Ludzik Posted October 31, 2012 (edited) After building the last two fighters, I realized that I'm lacking a small fighter. This one is a short range support fighter. Perfect for escort duty but not capable of any long range or even medium range duties. <edit> MK VIII - see below for pics and writeup. </edit> Edited November 2, 2012 by Ludzik

I know...unfortunately that's all that I had handy so with that in mind I'll claim that the green cockpit windscreen works better in deepspace as it acts as an additional filter that enhances the contrast level between the deepspace and other objects (like enemy craft) . TheLegoNinja Posted October 31, 2012 Very nice! I like the use of the collumn pieces for engines!
Laura Beinbrech Posted November 1, 2012 Nice, compact fighter craft you have there... I'm wondering, just how sturdy is the SNOT work? It looks like it would be rather delicate, but you never know.... Last I checked, Red and Black with trans neon green windscreens were used by the M-Tron faction as well as Atlantis submarines, so I'd say it fits, but replace the other transparent elements with trans neon green and you'd have a nice Neo-M-Tron fighter..... Ludzik Posted November 1, 2012 Nice, compact fighter craft you have there... I'm wondering, just how sturdy is the SNOT work? It looks like it would be rather delicate, but you never know.... It's nearly bullet proof... I can hold it by any piece (except for the binoculars) and it will not budge. The trick is that the base of the craft is made from two of http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87609 side by side which makes it pretty solid. Last I checked, Red and Black with trans neon green windscreens were used by the M-Tron faction as well as Atlantis submarines, so I'd say it fits, but replace the other transparent elements with trans neon green and you'd have a nice Neo-M-Tron fighter..... Hmmmm might have some laying around..... though I think I'll still leave the engine exhaust red :)
Ludzik Posted November 2, 2012 Something kept bugging me with the way MK VII looked and after a few days I decided that the designers need to work on it a bit and release a new version. So the shipyard folks spent a couple of days and nights implementing updates resulting in the following fighter. Couple improvements include: - Slimmer design. the "wings" were brought in a bit and extended backwards to protect the engines. - Engines were moved back a little bit - Cockpit is protected where it joins the body of the craft. Si-MOCs Posted November 2, 2012 It's such a little change between Mark VI and Mark VII but it makes all the difference! That collar adds a lot! My only other suggestion, as noted before the trans green looks a bit odd. So make it LESS odd, why not change the engine exhausts from trans red and trans neon green? Or the blaster? If you make something else that matches it makes it less out of place.
Ludzik Posted November 3, 2012 Good point regarding the green translucent pieces but I've temporarily misplaced the box with all those pieces :(

I like this rendition, the green isn't horrible and I like the fact that the engines are fully recessed now.
