[MOC] Bonsai Bust Up: Ultimate Battle

Recommended Posts

Bonsai Bust Up...

The Blood Ninja clan have set up an ambush for Samurai Kai (no relation). Unfortunately he spots them easily due to their crimson uniforms. Little does he know that this is a ruse to allow the assasin Lady Bloodbloom to assess his skills.

...and my 8x8 entry...

Lady Bloodbloom: The Flowers of Vengeance...

The last surviving member of the Blood Ninja Clan and a 'mistress' of disguise, this beautiful female Ninja (Kunoichi) specialises in assassination. Lady Bloodbloom's greatest assest is the fact she's managed to convince the world that she only has one eye. Her weapon of choice is a hand-held fan tipped with a sharpened steel blade.

It is said that wherever she walks the flowers turn red...

Nice, I like the clearly devastating blow dealt to the unfortunate ninja behind him.

The blood ninjas are certainly living up to their name, even if it is their own blood being spilt.

Also i really like the tree.

Impressive battle scene! The figs' poses are perfect and the blood effect from the ninja is innovative

Ouch! That blood spurting out effect is really good! I like the eye-patched kimono girl! Sinister yet demure (?)

This is awesome.

I love how you have made the pot as the base - great idea! It really looks like the whole thing is happening around a bonsai. I also like how you have suspended the ninja.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone :sweet:

@Harton - I watched 'Babycart in Peril' & 'Lady Snowblood', films I hadn't watched in years, to get in the Ninja frame-of-mind . Lady Snowblood in particular was the inspiration behind Tarantino's Kill Bill . And, yes, he wins this one but I'm afraid in round 2 he isn't quite as successful.

@DraikNova - I know where you're coming from, I personally don't like to see blood in military/war MOC's - I feel Zombie and Ninja themes are fair game though

@Kristel - Thanks, I thought it would be fun to attempt a life-size tree :sweet: . The pot was so frustrating, I spent ages making a base that sloped at the bottom and had little legs - I even had to completely reverse the stud direction to do it - and you can't even see it in the picture  .

This is great. It can be a 1:1 tree and at the same time a minifig scale tree.

That's the idea although I have to admit I'm really not sure how big actual Bonsai Trees are

Thanks Ferrik - I made a real effort to get the figures posed right to give a sense of action.
