I need some advice

Okay, I've been working on my wargame and I'm almost done with the fleet one but I have hit a dead end.

What do I do about movement?

Originally, it was very simple: you moved as far as you wanted within the ships movement rate. Now, I want to take a more complex approach: Instead of just moving, you can accelerate/decelerate your ship. The ship will maintain it's speed in the same direction unless you change it's course, allowing you to turn your ship all the way around and fly backwards (something that is done in many sci-fi tv shows and movies.)

Which one do you guys like better? Keep in mind that I am aiming for a simulation of commanding a fleet and not just a simple wargame.

I really like the complecated one. It reminds me of Battlefleet Gothic where you have to plan ahead for movement.
