Here you can see the finished vessel!
Here you can read about the progress following this thread.

Hi everybody,

before ill upload my pictures from building the ship of the line ill first give you some background information.

I was a great fan of Lego and history, especially of the Napoleonic war, my whole life.

When I was around 13 or 14 I built a frigate with 10 cannons per broadside (got no more cannons).

As I found this page here the enthusiasm for Lego ships came back.

I took some pictures of the frigate to show you these first, then ill upload the pictures of my current work.

I just don’t have enough bricks to finish my work (and had to destroy my frigate), but wanted to share the current situation with you.

Would be nice if you could give me some tips on how to make the stern (hate the one of my frigate).

-Sorry: photos deleted, I'll fix that as soon as possible-

the curve i use:

The sails with sailors look great on that frigate.

I don't have experience with Ship-of-the-lines..yet but I like what you have so far.

The lower stern is nice :pir-classic:

Out of important yellow bricks, I just took some more pictures of her current condition.

I’m happy with the hull and curve, It doesn’t look too angular even though the main part is made of normal bricks.

I like the classic Lego ship system so I tried to use only the Lego masts. The result is “wrong” rigging but a typically Lego ship (I hope so). Only the hull was too tiny and wouldn’t fit in my color scheme.

One thing I want to change is the construction of the gun ports. Have to make them movable.

Soon I'll move to Romania for a year again and my ship will stay here:(

But here some things i want to change when im back in Germany:

  • Working on the gunports: currently my gunports have a width of 3 bricks and every gap is made of 3 bricks as well. The result is that the gunports look a little bit oversized. I will probably change it into 2 brick wide gunports and 4 brick wide gaps between them (saw that often here in the forums). But i wont change the yellow stripes into a curve, momentally they are parallel to the waterline.
  • Changings the masts into "real" bricks, the prefabricated masts are instabil in a height I need for a ship of the line (even in the new photos they still look a little bit low). Probably will use these here: 140.jpg maybe in yellow or brown but I think I would prefer beige.
  • Some work on the interior.
  • Put in some details like more beautiful railings or brick built canons.

Greetings to all who read this!

Found a photo on my computer including some changes:

Both done...even though the yellow stripes just got a slight curvature.

Still inactive, did this in march.

Edit: The part with the mizzen mast isn't at its actual position.

Damn it, nearly all my photos are deleted by now.

Using a brickshelf account from now on to show you the updates.

  • I changed the number of gun ports per continuous gun deck per side from 13 to 14
  • New gratings
  • improved cabins, doesn't look too thick anymore and the ship gained more stability
