I'd prefer one faction at a time. I hate getting so many Commando Droids instead of getting more clones. What do you prefer?

Single fractions as we get more. When you at the single packs we get a speeder for both the clones and mandos a turret and three different types of troopers (Arf, commander and bombsquad). Where as now we get two commando droids an Arf and a arc with a cannon. When there's single packs it's easier to build an army as we get more troopers to a fraction and extras for both sides. I know LEGO said that certain packs like the assassin droid pack were left on the shelves. But the answer to that is simple make packs with minifigs that people want no one wants an army of assassin droids. People want clones, geonosians, super and normal battle droids, rebels and storm troopers. Maybe some people want mandos but Lego could have pimp them out a bit with range finders and new blasters.

I prefer the single faction battle packs. My thinking is, LEGO first created the battle packs so you could build an army. Depending on the fan, they may only want one specific army. With the 2-faction battle pack, you may get minifigs you don't want and it makes it harder to army build a specific faction.

While I do love the "diversity" of the two-faction BPs, I PREFER one-faction BPs. I need more TCW clonies... :hmpf_bad:

I think it depends on the subject or specifics of the set. Generally I prefer sets to be all the same faction with a matching/opposing set. But with that said there needs to be some variety in those 4 packs. The Rebel vs Imperial Hoth sets were great. 4 same sided figs and no more than 2 similar figs per set. The 2x2 Clone set with 2 gorgeous clones and 2 (ugh!) droids was less so. The Mandalorian set with essentially 4 identical figs was sort of meh to me. I know some want Army building sets. But please mix it up a bit.

One, I have two buy two packs of the Endor Battlepack to get the number of Imperials I would get in one :sceptic:

This is an easy answer for me, one faction all the way! While I like the Commando BDs, but I don't want 20 of them... I'm not building a CIS army, so I don't want piles of droids. I'm a Clone Army kind of guy.

1 faction, battle packs are obviously directed towards army building so having 1 faction is the fastest way to build a big army

I'm still undecided on this issue :classic:

The point of having one faction is clear.

However, the consequence is that Lego has to introduce 2 sets in order to cover 1 scenario. The consequence is that it takes longer to cover different scenes. This process can be accelerated by introducing 2 factions in 1 set. So to me, the problem is not having 2 factions in 1 set; rather, I wonder if a scene can be covered with 4 figures adequately or if the number shouldn't be risen to 5 (occasionally).

I don't mind the mixed factions if they had 2 of each minifig. 2 stormies and 2 rebels for instance. I see their reasoning behind it.

I would prefer to have 4 of the same minifig in a battlepack though for army building, as opposed to the different types that have emerged so far.

I completely agree with you. Make army building battle packs with minifigs that people would want to army build. Imagine if LEGO did single faction battle packs again this year. They would have the same problem with the Commando Droids as they did with the Assassin Droids. While a pretty decent minifig, I wouldn't want to army build them. There's always a small group of them running around on the show, not an army of them.

One, definitely.

And preferably with figs you can actually build an army out of, nothing too specialized (looking at you there, ARC-droid pack).

Definitely one. As people have already said, army builders usually want to concentrate on one army at a time.

Very much this.

People want an army out of general rank and file troops, not loads of commanders. Now they made this BP with specialised ARF trooper and the ARC commander (I think I have that right?) what are people going to use to make their rank and file troops from? They would have to release a 'rank and file' troop style battlepack of the same races. If they did, then the Commander BPs (imo) will vastly drop in sales because in armies, there are more rank/file troops than there are commanders...

Release a BP with 2 rank and file troops, 1 commander and 1 ARF trooper, you are getting something more suitable to army building with room for customising those extra commanders quite easily...

There's part of me(my wallet) that's happy they have 2 in 1, otherwise I'd buy all the BPs I could and there wouldn't be any money left for other sets.

This might sound strange but I think it is to early to tell. The one faction battle packs were not working as they came in a box from lego containing 3 of each. This meant a lot of sets were going unsold which is maybe TLC's own fault for the faction choices.

I am pretty happy with the minifigs in both the new battle Packs even though I only have 6 endor ones and 22 Clone and Commando Droid ones. I will have to wait and see what we get in the next Jan wave before I complain. After all this way it means we will very probably get a clone BP every year instead of two!

While TLG did good choices in what they actually put into the respective 'mixed' BPs, i still prefer single faction BPs.

It's good being able to fully play with only one BP as a kid. However, kids require a good deal of pocket money to actually purchase a single BP nowadays (at least in Europe: a lone BP costs the equivalent of 22,38 USD!!!).

I also don't like the numeric balance between the factions within the packs. In OT for example, the Rebels ought to be terribly outnumbered by Imperials. When looking at the sets components, the Rebels do tend to be equal or even in superior numbers. Yes, they are the heroes. But isn't heroism the greater, the smaller the odds are?

IMO, the Endor BP is very good as it is. There is a vehicle and some foliage to make dioramas more interesting. But how the heck to purchase official sets solely and give an edge to the Empire? General Solo's commandos had about some 20 men while the Emperor had ordered a whole legion of Stormies there...

I clearly vote for single faction BPs. This also allows for more non-generic variance within the troops. If the content is right, i won't stop purchasing BPs just because they are mixed. Just what i prefer. Development of prices seriously reduces the number of BPs i purchase.

Mutley, what are your intentions for all those 22 clone commanders? :o (I'm not going to ask for freebies or to buy them btw :P I genuinely am interested because thats a lot of commanders that will need a heck of a lot of troops under them :look: )
