Old Style beams

Since I got the Lego Technic Set 8070 I prefer Studless Beams to Studded Beams, I only use Studded beams in other Lego Models to build a frame for the model to built, like Steam Locomotives, big space ships to make them strong and light enough to pick up

There are many studless replicas of the truck on YouTube.

And no one of them surpassed the original.

The old model still has way better proportions and look.

I agree. The studded original is still the best. No beating it.

There might be a lot of them now. The post that you quoted of mine is 6 years old, and at the time, this was the only studless replica that I had seen. I still don't think the old one looks as nice as the new one. It's just my opinion.

Any chances TLG to get back to old beams somehow?

Recently I noticed in many cases the old beams work better than the new ones.

Here are several examples:

Compare the seats! How it's easy to make a proper seat of the old beams and how difficult when using the thin studless ones!

1) The seat is unfinished ))))))

2) Even for the short and unfinished seat he had to find solution whereas it would be much easier to make, when using two simple old beams.

TLG still uses old beams in Technic models. Look at the 2nd stage of 42082's boom for instance, and the seats and rear light of the 42083 Chiron are completely system built, and attach to old style beams in the frame beneath. Even the upcoming Liebherr excavator seems to have a lot of system details attached on old style beams.

But I believe the days of a full studded-beam-built Technic model are behind us, TLG made a deliberate step towards studless, and I don't expect them to go back.

It is good mix of them needed and new style beams, actually beams allow tighter construction and technic bricks allow more stiffness..

Lego ain't ever going back to studded construction. But, like the Mack Anthem, they will use studded parts to add details.
