Yakuza Family - Conclusion

Recommended Posts

cimg1002.jpg

Everyone had gathered around the Dragon of Truth.

Stephanie found the remains of Shizuku and Saburo locked up in a toilet.

The toilet right across Akiras room.

cimg1007.jpg

They placed the bodies of Shizuku and Saburo in the mouth of the dragon.

Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

Orange snot oozed out of the dragons nose.

Shizuku and Saburo were both true to the Yakuza family.

cimg1008.jpg

They forced Akira into the mouth of the dragon.

Any last words? Great Grandfather Lloyd asked him.

Don't kill me, I'm useful, he replied.

I'm the investigator!

And also a jailkeeper!

Oh and after Mangas death I also became a vigilante!

A vigilante who is also a janitour!

Oh and lets not forget I am also the BOMB!

cimg1016.jpg

The family didn't pay attention to Akiras 'role claims'.

And Akiras body was eaten by the flames of the Dragon of Truth.

Green snot oozed from his nostrils.

The Dragon of Truth closed his eyes for the first time in a long while.

'Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandes' Great Grandfather Lloyd said, 'Never tickle a sleeping dragon'.

Our work here is done.

I shall open the doors and you all are free to go.

cimg1024.jpg

Great Grandfather Lloyd and Stephanie decided that they deserved a vacation.

So Lloyd bought Stephanie a purple convertible and they went on a road trip to Europe.

cimg1029.jpg

The remaining 10 family members felt like true WINNERS.

Out of 32 Yakuza family members, they were the only ones to survive the blood bath.

cimg1032.jpg

Norio and Maniko decided to build a huge tree house and to live there from now on.

Maniko never really finished her Geisha training, but she started her own Geisha training school anyway.

cimg1034.jpg

Shiro and Hanako had lost their son Akira and theiR daughter Momoe.

Up till this day they still find it odd that their children turned on the family and joined the Mutineers and the Agents.

To fill up the huge empty spot in their hearts they decided to adopt Lizzy so Kin would have a play buddy.

cimg1036.jpg

A few months after the bloodbath in the temple Daisuke came out of the closet.

He and Akio have been a couple ever since.

They now own a small but successful karaoke bar in Hawaii

cimg1043.jpg

After everyone left the templ Nobuo decided to stay and live there.

Together with the 5 genies and the two mermaids.

Needles to say he was a very happy man.

cimg1045.jpg

Noriko too stayed in the temple.

Someone had to take care of all the animals Stephanie had brought with her when she moved in with Great Grandfather Lloyd.

dragon.jpg

The dragon stayed in the temple, sleeping till the time would present itself that he would have to wake up and once again purify the Yakuza.

Yay!

Mermaids and genies, woot woot!

! To think that if things had gone wrong, I could have now been looking at half a year of seasickness with my scummy wife alongside... Hopefully that means I can now finally get this grumpy look off my face!

badboy, thanks for hosting this one. It's been a fun few weeks and a very interesting game for me. I've learned a lot in many aspects and am really happy that I signed up for this - even though I admit I may at times have bemoaned the lack of action. I guess all's well that ends well though; and that dragon has seen more than enough of his fair share of action!

Well done Family... Hats off to vets def and Rick for pulling us all through, that was an absolutely awesome effort!

Badboy, thanks for hosting this, it was a very fun few weeks! Both this and your CDF game were very entertaining, and a great introduction to EB Mafia games for me. It was a bit slow, and there were plenty of periods of inactivity, and I'm far from innocent in that regard. For my own part, the beginning was especially rocky, as I was in Seattle for a conference, and only had my phone to post from. That, combined with a series of "I'm busy for X days" posts in the C&D thread, and def's request/suggestion that people find a way to explain that in the day thread, hoo-boy, after day 1 I was sure I was going to be on the radar, haha. In the future, I'll probably just keep my mouth shut if I find myself in such a position again and float along with the silent crowd, rather than drawing attention to myself by apologizing for it/even mentioning it.

Does this mean that dear old Lizzy was really a loyal yakuza family member? If so, you'll find me in a corner, trying to dislodge my foot from my mouth.

I must thank def for being so active throughout this game. I know that there are/were others in his circle, and that I'm not giving you due credit, so just take your fair share of that which I give def  Even when he was mistaken, he still gave us stuff to talk about, things to discuss, and more opportunities to analyze peoples' actions. Now, perhaps someone else would have picked up the reins had he not, but as it stands, he's getting my "MVP" vote

Are we/should we reveal role pm's, here? I'm quite curious as to more than a few of your roles...

Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing:

cimg0583.jpg

Nobuo – Played by MetroiD

Nobuo is the leader of the Yakuza. He’ll be handing the family business over to his 4 sons at the end of this year. He is looking forward to his retirement.

You are a Vanilla Townie and have no Night Action what so ever. You win when all the Scum is eliminated.

Let me just say, I'm relived to see it was a conclusion today  I was really worried that there would be a day nine, hunting out that last secret agent. I'd expected five of each.

For the most part, I had a good time with this game, and no hard feelings to anyone who crossed paths with me. I was impressed with the scum activity of fhomess and Scubacarrot in particular.

I cursed Badboy before day one started, since I figured I'd have a target on my back. I don't mind dying early, but it sucks for the town if the investigator is taken out early.

To my allies:

On day one, I outed myself as the investigator because was very worried about the aggressive gambit TinyPies pulled in the last game. I ended up saying I'd outed myself to two players, while actually it was three: Cecilie, Rick, and Cornelius. Cecilie ended up outing her hider role, and Murdock his vig role, and at that point, we became really effective on early days.

Rick, I'm really glad you got recruited as a mason on day three, because I was getting really worried you were a scumbum. But, after that, you carried on your perpetual role, the voice of reason, and you were the one to target Scubacarrot, who I may have let slide.

The Nakayoshi (translated, best friends  ) expanded to include Pie and Flitwick. Relatively speaking, I was glad Pie was taken out since Flitwick was protecting me.

To my foes:

MetroiD, sincerely, no hard feelings. I think there was a friction of play styles at hand. I want to say, day one, your assault on me (however you want to name it) was not a great play. If I were scum, you would only be playing your card to early, and unnecessarily since I had been trying to work with you. And since I was town, you were only frustrating me, and drawing unreasonable attention to me. I tried to investigate Rufus day one, but was blocked because Legonator thought I was scummy because of you. If I hadn't been blocked, we would have known on day two that Rufus (and his loose-lipped partner Volcanik Panik) was scum. Zakura's deception would have failed, the town would not have lynched Legonator over Volcanik Panik, Tammo would have been saved... Major game changes if you hadn't been so confident on day one. The accusation didn't get to me, it was the confidence behind it. On the plus side, it probably kept me alive on night one or two, as scum worried I was being watched, so on that level, I can say thanks  All in all though, I put it down to a difference in styles. And yes, you owe me a beer

Etzel: I was sure you were scum around day two when you hypothesized that scum would vote late on day one to make a counter-argument that scum would never do that etc etc. Red lights started flashing, I wanted you out on that post. It was way too misleading to me.

Scuba: You played well, Rick called you out. I explained to you the rationale, but Rick pitched it to me.

fhomess: You were scummy in PMs, and you tried to fish me

Nightshroud: You lied! I think I explained it in thread and in private enough

Bob: Regarding your day eight... Personally, I don't enjoy it when scum give it up under pressure when being voted out, and I gave you a few jabs about it. In retrospect (that is to say, someone kind of pointed it out to me in a matter of words), maybe some people get a kick out of the deceased goofing off in thread. I honestly don't, and it strikes me as a football team deciding to do karaoke in the second half since they're losing the game anyway... But I tend to think of mafia as a game to seriously play. So, I didn't enjoy it, but it was a dick move of me to take away from others' enjoyment of what you were doing, including yourself. And for that, I apologize.

Also, your defense was too much roleplay: "This is how you repay me?" That screamed scum to me.

The rest of the scum, I don't remember! The game had a few lopsided first few days before it hit a good equilibrium.

Thanks for a good time, badboy :classic:

Loose-lipped secret agent, that's me. Lesson learnt: Never go on EB at school or I would end up covering the screen with Zakura trying to peel me off and vice versa.

Hey vol you hacked my account and wouldn't admit to me what you were.

Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing:

Played by Zakura

Tamiko is a news reporter on the rise. She controls what news makes the press and what news dies on the way to the press. That makes her a truly valuable asset to the Yakuza family.

You are the Town Mason. Each night you choose one player to target. If the player is a Townie, he will be informed of your affiliation. From then on you can team up on the Mason writeboard. If the player is not a Townie, you will die. The person you care most of is your daughter Aiko, if something were to happen to her you wouldn’t know what to do. You win when all the Scum is eliminated and Aiko is still alive.

Hello all! I have a couple of things to say about this game, first off, I want to thank Badboy for hosting, and letting me play, much appreciated, I had fun!

Here is my role PM:

Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing:

cimg0586.jpg

Chieko – Played by Scubacarrot

Chieko is one of the last remaining traditional Geisha’s. She runs her own Geisha school so that the art of being a Geisha will not be lost. Because being a Geisha is not a profession, but a way of life Chieko only has one student a year so she can devote all her time to that one student.

You are the Scum Godfather, together with your team you decide who to kill at night. It is you who needs to send in the victim. Your team needs to outnumber the Town to win this game.

I will comment some more when I collect my thoughts.

And yes, you owe me a beer

Any preferences?

As to our clash - yes, I was just being me and obviously, I had a vision in my mind of how things could work, which wasn't going to happen anyway. My moves were/are in no way the smartest ones (apparently... :hmpf_bad: ) and I tend to get way too heavy-handed at times. Which is obviously all stuff I need to work on in future Mafia games. I realize I've generally been a pain the megablocks due to my conviction (not that you were scum, but that we could work through things in some different way), and the best way to prove me wrong was to lead Town to victory, which you did. By single-handedly picking out the last Mutineer (among others), no less. So here's to a job well done!

Either way, I'd like to think that the tension between us ended up helping Town, after all - least of all by helping draw attention to other players; and besides - Rick was utterly brilliant in his regular role as the Voice of reason, as you put it.

Maniko – Played by Swils

Maniko is Chieko’s last student, or young Padawan as she likes to call herself. Maniko is on her way to become a magnificent Geisha, but deep down inside she’d rather be a Jedi Knight!

You are the Town Commuter. You leave the town each Night, thus making you ineligible to be targeted by Night Actions. You win when all the Scum is eliminated.

Told ya, def!

Also, I need to tell Brickdoctor: Sorry, but... We were wrong (the five voting for you), and unfortunately I realized Bob was the better target too late in the game day. Between Rick and I, the assumption was that you were probably a godfather, for reasons I explicitly stated in thread (vocal without clearly helping). So, I implied you'd be investigated (around day seven) to you in private, but I was never going to do that since I couldn't trust the result. It's a crappy situation, but your (in my opinion) hostility to discussion made you a character I couldn't figure out. One day, our stars will align. One day...

I can imagine how you felt, and I hope it isn't discouraging for you :classic:

Told ya, def!

That's pure mental  Then Badboy needs to explain why I got a Town reading on you. It was a real frustration to me, and another reason I was dreading a day nine. I was worried we'd get to day eleven.

The first Town alliance was me, Cecilie, and Cornelius Murdock, with Rick as a satellite. Pie was brought in, and later Flitwick, who was a rational voice when I wasn't feeling rational. JimB would have if scum hadn't taken him out the night they had. And MetroiD was cooperative by the half-way point :sweet:

Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing:

cimg0599.jpg

Kenta – Played by Nightshroud99

Kenta is one of the leading sushi chefs in the country. He’s won several prizes an is known all around the world for his delicious dishes. His specialty is the Koilette role.

You are a Agent Role Cop. You get to investigate one person a night. It is your goal to find the Scum Godfather. Your team needs to outnumber the Town to win this game.

Overall a entertaining game Badboy, and congratulations to the winners.

I'm not sure if Badboy will show the writeboards later, but here is who I performed my night actions on.

Night 1: Cornelius Murdock (vigilante), and Cecilie was hiding behind him. (hider)

Night 2: I investigated def, he was the affiliation cop.

Night 3: I investigated Scuba Carrot, but got the wrong result and didn't find out until I was dead. :hmpf_bad: I got, vanilla Yakuza as a result, while Scuba was actually the Godfather we were looking for.

Night 4: I investigated Bob, he was a JanitorJailkeeper.

Night 5 I was, by myself, going to investigate CallmePieorDie. But I died.

I must thank my teammates, especially Rufus for guiding who to investigate. Judging from the results I got, his experience really showed through.

My final act of sushi induced valor was when I told Bob my info, so I got Cornelius killed after he killed me.

My major ingame problem was that I didn't put up a defense, because frankly I didn't know what to say; and didn't want to shoot myself in the foot. And when I did formulate a plan the day had finished.

Thanks for the game badboytje! It was only my second mafia game and I didn't do very well, but I learned a lot at least.

Here is my role PM:

cimg0539.jpg

Hiroki - Played by Etzel

Even though Hiroki is very young he already is head of the biggest Casino chain. He likes to gamble, but you don’t want to be in debt with this guy.

You are a Scum Goon and have no Night Action what so ever. Your team needs to outnumber the Town to win this game.

After Yasu(TheBoyWonder) got lynched I took over his night action, scum role cop and did these investigations:

Night 2: Isamu (Peanuts) - Goon

Night 3: Norio (def) - Affiliation Cop

Then I got lynched, not much to do about that.

You are the Town Voyeur. You can target a player at night and learn what was done to them that night (but not who did it). You win when all the Scum is eliminated.

Thanks for letting me play, Badboy. I hate to say it, but sorry, - I really didn't enjoy this game at all. :sadnew:

I was cast as one of the Secret Agents - a secret scum group, whose win condition was to outnumber the Town. We could merge with the scum team if we were able to role-cop their godfather, after which we would get a killing ability. We didn't have a kill ability until we did this.

I asked Badboy what would happen if we didn't merge with the scum, but were able to outnumber the town (eg., four scum, four agents, four town) - would both Agents and Scum win in this situation? I didn't receive a satisfactory answer. :sceptic:

The problem is that we did, apparently, role-cop the scum godfather (who I believe was Scubacarrot) on night 3 - but as Nightshroud has said, we got the result that he was vanilla Yakuza.

Night 3: I investigated Scuba Carrot, but got the wrong result and didn't find out until I was dead. :hmpf_bad: I got, vanilla Yakuza as a result, while Scuba was actually the Godfather we were looking for.

So we didn't merge, and didn't get a killing ability. There was no way for us to win after that.

Moreover, the scum role-copped our godfather (Peanuts) on night 2:

Night 2: Isamu (Peanuts) - Goon

I fully expected that we would merge after this, as Peanuts was killed that night. I assumed that the scum would be looking for our godfather for the same reason we were looking for theirs - otherwise, why would they have a role-cop at all?

With no realistic way to win, there was very little incentive to try to play at all, and I was glad to be taken out of the game.

Moreover, I had the most impossible role. I was a Mistress - I slept with people at night, then if I were night-killed (not lynched) they would die of grief (as happened to iamded's character). This role is useless unless I planned to die, which I had intended to do. The problem was that people I targeted were notified that I had slept with them, and as there was very little I could claim to defend myself, I chose instead to keep my mouth shut, and try to target players who looked scummy in order to defend myself to town.

Then we were screwed over by VolcanicPanik and zakura, who as it turned out knew each other in real life. zakura 'knew' I was a secret agent on Day One, because Panik told him. We spent a lot of time fire-fighting and trying to find out exactly what Panik had told zakura, so that we could at least try to build some defence. Panik went mysteriously quiet for quite some time.

This was a big game-breaker for me. You two should have told the host in advance that you knew each other IRL.

Thanks to Peanuts and Nightshroud for playing as well as possible given the circumstances. I enjoyed playing with you guys, even if most of our time was spent trying to work out what we could salvage from the mess.

Sorry to sound harsh, but it's one thing to be set a difficult task in order to stand a chance of winning - but to achieve that goal and be denied due to what I assume is a hosting error does rather spoil the game. I don't want to detract from the town vs scum battle, or the town victory, which I'm sure is thoroughly deserved.

Then we were screwed over by VolcanicPanik and zakura, who as it turned out knew each other in real life.

I can really imagine how that must have ruined all the Agents' game.

The whole way zakura and volcanic handled this Mafia game was not OK, at least as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention their way of 'explaining' things, especially in private ("the other person who uses this account"... seriously... :hmpf: ). Besides, when apparently sitting side by side in school ( :hmpf_bad: ), they probably shouldn't be surfing EB for a ton of reasons...

I'm also bewildered by the fact that Rufus' targets got results from that action, and also by those goon / godfather readings, and a few other things as well in terms of weird game rules. I did, however, stop trying to overthink things at all and just went with the flow after Day 2; telling Flitwick to protect def from that point onward until the end of the game and sharing all the other info I had with Rick and the rest of the confirmed townies. All my talking from that point on was done in the threads, precisely in order to prevent such stuff from happening. Luckily, it worked for Town & me...

I have to say that as the first game I've played with a dedicated night action, I rather enjoyed killing people. :classic: I was very thankful that I had both Cecilie and def to talk things over with after the first night. We were very confident about our town alliance those first few days. We probably wouldn't have been as much had we known that the secret agents knew who we all were. If they'd actually had a kill action, we'd have been in trouble.

No, we didn't know that there were a second scum team until this investigation (although we had played with the thought) and we had no objective to find you or join you. So when we knew you existed we didn't really know what to do and didn't dare reach out to you since we didn't know your objectives.

I have a question, what was the point of Bob's Janitor ability? For those that don't know, he was given the ability to use it twice, but only on our (the mutineer's) Night Kill. That seems next to useless to me, maybe someone else can explain it to me? :sceptic:
