Hey out there in the galaxy,

I´m going straight into my ruin.

I hope this thread will help anyone who is thinking about the same.

Here ist the first part of my story.

5195 Pieces needed all together

1. Bricklink order 3 pieces - 14,92€ (Chewbacca/Han Solo/Leia) Luke are Obi allready in stock - paid

2. Bricklink order 504 pieces - 31,18€ (Hinges/ Technic Bricks / Tiles) - paid

3. Bricklink order 95 pieces - 26,80€ (Wedges/Lightsaber) - recieved

Looks like a cool start! I wouldn't have gotten any old grays, though.

I suppose at this point and time you get what you can.

This is going to be a good thread. How often do you think you will post updates?

Good luck :classic:

If possible, I'd try to keep orders open as long as possible. The reason is that there's a pretty good chance that you'll be able to complete more lots (= getting all parts of a certain kind).

This part is the most expensive of the parts; I you are really willing to complete the project, this is what you want :classic:

I will be forever kicking myself for not buying the boat-rigging when it was $15 each :(

In any case I'm very happy with my UCS Falcon - the only thing I don't have is bley levers (mine are all old-grey), and the large dark red plate on the bottom. Worked out to be about $500~600 without shipping, but I purchased parts for about 4 sets at once so its a real horrible mix that is hard to work out...

Hey folks,

thanks for your replies.

@Evok and Brickadeer

You are right, these are the most expensive pieces. I´ll try to find a solution to use the black ones and color them in a reliable way.

@lego envy

I will not post every single step, but major steps or usefull changes to the original.

keep on rocking

Klaus

I applaud this project!

When you need light bley levers remember that you can construct them from other colored levers that has light bley bases or levers.

Best of luck!

:-) Simple, but good hint. Thank you.

I wouldn't :sweet: As many parts in " ye oldish grey " as possible would do it for me.. after all the MF is a old worn down bucket  and I found the bley wayyyyyyy to shiny !

that boat part is ridicules ! :sing: I would go for some paint on a black counterpart in this case, the revell colour greyis an even match for it. ( even if it is cheating )

maybe a few different shades of gray, due to oldness of bricks can help creating a more natural look for the millenium falcon.. :)

I'd say don't start until you have all the pieces, but it looks to late for that already.

I did that, and it drove me nuts stopping every page or two while waiting for a bricklink order to come in.

I'm sure you already have done this, but if a part is expensive and in limited quantity in the right color, look at the plans and decide if it can be easily changed out. Unless you want to exactly re-create the original kit, you can save a fortune by making some simple changes. (black technic beams is a good first start)

Enjoy!

I think I love mine more after going through the bricklink search and order process, was a lot of fun!

Time for the next step until the first orders arrive.

Falcon003.jpg

The 5x5 technic bricks are still missing, I´m waiting for the postman. Hope they will be delivered until the end of the week.

I need them to finish the super structure. If you look closely, you will see some minor changes.

Falcon004.jpg

But waiting for pieces is the way to start with the first body part. Hehe, I know some purist will cry right now, the dark red plate is not there.

Why? I don´t find a fair slot to buy it, but this plate is easy to change, if I found a cheap one.

@Saint You can read my mind, I think the falcon is a kind of galaxy trash bin, so it should be looking really dirty.

For sure, I will use different grey bricks to create this look. I don´t want to sell it, I build just it to enjoy myself.

Look at the back, I changed some light grey vs. dark grey and mixed the different grey tones

Have fun and stay tuned for the next step.

Waiting for the next BL order is not such a good idea.

The guys starting to make trouble. :sweet:

Falcon005.jpg

As you can see, I changed the upper pin connectors against bushes, because they will already vanished inside the corpus.
