LOTR Project: The Fellowship of the Ring

Recommended Posts

I. THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

Howdy guys.

This is the project topic for my custom-made sets of The Fellowship of the Ring. I realize that LEGO is making official products of the LOTR movies, too, but this project has been my brainchild since this past summer; having already poured lots of time and money into it by the time LEGO made their announcement, I decided I might as well keep going on mine. The creations below are built to be like sets that TLG themselves would make (ironic, huh?). Each one thus has specific minifigures, and even an imagined price point. My sets are built for stability, detail, playability, and differentiation of sizes. So, without further ado, let's get started!

Newest Content is at the Top!

I really like it. I too have for a while toyed with the idea of making a series of mocs (though for Castle) that would mimick the LEGO style and could be actual sets, as I for some strange reason find doing so to be more fascinating than doing "real" mocs.

You should put them on Cuscoo, maybe LEGO can use some of your designs.

This is very nice! I agree that you should put this on CUUSOO. I think that instead of Snape's hair on Frodo, use Harry Potter's.

That is really good! Do you have any other Fellowship MOCs in the pipeline?

I would hope if Lego released this they might include a little bit more of the hill, but what you have got so far is great, design and colourwise :)

I like how you managed to make a good scene with limited bricks and count on minifigs, I actually see like this has a lot of potential. Nice work.

It has that right-out-of-the-box-smell. I can completely see TLG releasing this - I can see myself purchasing it. The price point for what you created is spot-on.

Very good. Personaly I'd want the tan bricks around the door to be orange to identify it moore as bag end.

Looking real good I really like Sting over the fireplace. I was a big fan of your "Rise to the Wicked" series and I'm glad to see such great quality in your next project. I can't wait for your next addition. My only qualm is the 6x1 tan arch over the window, I would think that a 1x4 with 1x1 bricks on the side would look better from the inside of the house, but other than that, it looks great

I'm glad you decided to continue, it'll be really interesting to compare your interpretation to TLG's. Bag End looks good, you were really thorough in including all the important features. A small prop of BIlbo's party would be nice, but if this were a real set I'd probably complain about if for unnecessarily jacking up the price. Looking forward to the next installments.

What's the largest set you're planning to make?

First post has been updated with a new set!

This is very nice! I agree that you should put this on CUUSOO. I think that instead of Snape's hair on Frodo, use Harry Potter's.

I tried Harry Potter hair, but it was a little comical on Frodo - too afro-like.

I do indeed have more sets in the pipeline! They will be published as soon as they've been photographed. For instance, the second set shown. As for the hill, that would have made the set a little too big for the price point I picked, but I'm glad you like the colors!

Didn't have those parts in orange, unfortunately.

Yeah, I can see what you mean - however, the 1x6 arch makes a cleaner exterior, adds more stability, and keeps with the whole circles/semicircles theme going. The window itself, in my fantasy life, would be round. It unfortunately isn't.

The largest set in the lineup for the Fellowship of the Ring is going to be the Mines of Moria, at about a $60-70 price point.

Thank you everyone for your feedback!

Nice to see another addition, though I wonder on the accuracy of The Black Rider, from what I recall the 4 hobbits are hiding under the roots of a huge tree when the rider is nearby not a bridge, also price point anything with more than 2 figures is worth more than $10, I reckon at least $17+ for this one, keep up the good work

I love the simplicity of your designs. Yet there are some amazing little details in each set. Please continue with these!

I was trying to pick out a favorite of the three sets so far... except I can't. I would definitely buy all of them though. Count me charmed.

I think the Nazgul takes the cake though for the minifigs. Now I look forward to a rendition of the fellbeasts....

Well looking at the Lego standpoint, they always make sets without all the right characters, but only a slew. Take the POTC sets. How many characters were missing from their scene-based sets?

Oh my goodness. These sets are outstanding. I would love to see them as offical Lego sets!
