This MOC is for a contest where the chair is a required piece, that is I'm sure, the only reason it was used.

I wouldn't have used chairs to make a hull if it wasn't for the contest, however, I do think the use of the chairs could be usefull for some types of ships, a big keel and flat bottom like that reminds me of the Viking ships, the drakkars, the keel is probably too big for that but still

Couldn't you use something like to pinch the sail to the boom?

Yeah perhaps you could also try other bricks instead of the chairs, but the bird's eye view is great

That looks very nice. The shape it gives is great, but with all the holes I think it looks awesome as a sinking ship. I really like the technique on the smaller ship too, and very clever use of the seats.

While the seed part madness continues (Pirates Part Plunder) another variant of the Modus Navum Flectere Sebeum or Sebeus' organic ship curve technique (I'm starting to like that first name )

However this time I have not used any flexible tubes.

This is the seed part;

I used two red ones as structural elements for an Islander boat

A preview of my next entry;

(I also used the seed part on the statue)

I did try to make a shark-like creature using a black seed part but it didn't work out

For the Castaway category in the 2012 Mocathalon I've made this new ship,

again it is still a wreckage

but it's coming

Worked out pretty well, eventhough I say so myself

I also made a video to demonstrate how light and swooshable it is.

It's a bit dark though, I don't get it, my pictures are bright but I I can't make a birght movie under the same conditions

I hope this video prooves that while the construction looks very fragile it is actually pretty sturdy

I'll use this tread to post any other progress I make on this technique.

I don't know if I should make a seperate tread for this castaway

Something I forgot to say at MOCPages and I just remembered: that bottle so intact when the rest of the ship is destroyed is extremely amusing! Nice MOC!
