This ebay auction just ended and look at that price... I didn't bid because the seller refused to back down on a 20 pound flat rate for shipping to Ireland... but look at that price! Is this a common ebay frustration?

I wouldn't say its common in my eBay experiences, which involves 625 seperate auctions between 322 different sellers. Yes, there are some who attempt to capitalise upon unreasonably postage prices so that's why its always good to enquire what the fees will be long before the auction ends.

BTW I put this here because I am blocked from posting in the Imperial Trading Post Records...

HAHAHAH!!! We want to keep Mr Norro out! Actually, the Imperial Trading Post Records will probably go under reform later on but for now just post topics like this here and when they've passed their "used by" date I'll move them over to that sub-forum.

Sorry Mr. Norro for changing the topic's original idea. What's frustrating to me is being outbidded last minute. There's a bunch of frustrations with ebay. I hope you foind the same set soon at a good price!

Bringing up other issues isn't a bad thing. No point having an individual thread for EACH eBay frustration so by all means tell us what your other frustrations are...

Mr Norro, this thread hasn't recieved any new responses for a couple of weeks so I'm checking to see if you've got the information you were looking for. If you have then I'll move thist thread into the root forum Imperial Trading Post Records. If anyone wants to contribute further to this thread they will be able to do so there.

If you haven't recieved the information then I'll leave it in the main forum a while longer.

Hrmm, I saw an EF soooooo cheap, like uhm, 10 bucks cheap, ending in a day, Bid over bid, outbid, I brought up to 50, I'll make that person pay *skull* . Incidently, I bidded on other items, and, whamo, it's the same guy 8-

The first EF I bought was about 85% complete at about US$55 which included shipping. Two months ago I got another one for about the same price but was 99% complete. :-)

Between 1 and 2 years ago I won a new one (only problem was that the tape tabs had come off) and sold it for only $150. I almost kicked myself over it when I saw a MISB one on eBay going for over $300 a few months ago; a newb was the highest bidder when I saw it, but could have been outbid. I almost feel like kicking myself for not waiting. :-/

I believe it came in so low because the seller had the ridiculous shipping price on there and there is a low feedback rating as well. When people's feedback rating is under 10, people have a tendency to be more wary. Plus the set is opened and they have it listed as "unchewed". This struck me as weird and it makes me imagine that they don't have a very high standard for the condition of LEGO elements. The auction also may have been overlooked because they wasted good search words in their title. Their title is:

pirate lego 6260 pirate island with instructions + box

it would have made higher sales, I believe with this title:

Rare Vintage LEGO Pirates 6260 Shipwreck Island in box

Don't be too upset about missing out on it. It may not have been as great as it seemed...

I can't bare to see Pirate LEGO go so cheaply when I know someone is willing to pay more than me.

How generous of you...

I brought the price to what I was willing to pay. which was 50 bucks. Unfortunately, I gave up the item and left. I'm not saying that I go around auctions just to bring up prices, well, that'd be mean!

Yes, I'm too kind. Of course, there have been occassions where I've won the auction but that's not exactly a loss is it?

However, most of the time I don't need to do what I call "spite bidding" because it seems the bidders who are bidding on auctions closest to me are do quite a good job of fetching high prices without my assistance. Well higher than I'm willing to pay because I've got all the sets and more specialised pieces that I know what to do with, so I suppose I'm only willing to pay the bare minimum.

Hi, I am making a Pirate movie, (probably series) and I was wondering If somebody could buy one of these for "x" amount of dollars? I'm willing to pay around 250$ for each. The two that I have picked out are listed here:

twinkles: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1177457

DundS: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=231030

If this is totally uncalled for, like these are almost personal possessions due to the amount of work or something, I apologize in advance. But if these aren't for sale, is there anyway the owner/builder could make instructions? Like take it apart step by step and take pictures, then put them in reverse. Or LeoCAD it. I would pay somewhat for that. But then I would need to be pointed in the right direction for pieces.

How would I contact these members? And is 250 USD a fair price?

Thank you very much,

-TD

EDIT: My apologies, this is in the wrong forum, this can be deleted.

TwistedDreams, it's great to have you visiting the board, and I'm sure I speak for all when I say we are so glad you are making a movie using Lego Pirates as the medium...

Just some quick thoughts. I can't speak for those who have designed the ships you are inquiring about but I can say it will probably be a stretch to get them to bite at $250 USD...

The actual official Lego ships BSB and SES (the big sets) can be in that ballpark on eBay, and I would be surprised if the ships you are inquiring about don't have significantly more peices.

Maybe someone else can chime in too. I honelsty don't mean to discourage, arrangments are made all the time- it's just these sets, and Lego resources are getting harder to find everyday...

If this community can help in anyway, I'm sure we'll try.

^Well that helps very much thank you. 500 USD? Yeah, I new 205 was waayy low, but the one's I linked to I'm willing to pay $500. Does anybody think that'll cut it? Also, How do I contact the people who built the ships I linked too?

Thanks,

-TD

EDIT: I realize that makes me sound like a spoiled little brat. Basically it goes like this: I have my ways of getting money, it's all me. And this is the way I choose to spend it. And your sets will be in pristine condition for many years if I buy them. And the movie(s) will be good too. I'll surely send DVD copy's too the people whom I bought the sets from, and I will give credit to the original builders of course.

Since you moved the post to the BSTF forum, I'll close this topic and let people answer there so we don't have two identical threads going on at the same time.

Somebody said 250 US dollars was way to low. So I said 500 dollars for the ones listed above. Anybody think that'll go?

-TD :-|

well even though they are great ships, i'd doubt you'll get more than 100 euro, let's say 150 dollars. First of all, it's not a set, but a moc. people don't pay all that much for mocs of others. I also don't see figs, cannons, ... the parts that make proposals interesting. Collectors wouldn't be interested in this moc, because it's not an official set, and usually it's that small group of fanatics who are willing to pay lots of money.

Maybe you should put them on ebay, add a minimum reserve and see what comes of it. i don't think 250 is realistic, though. if you're lucky, you get two or more kids bidding on your offer, pushing it to 250...

good luck *sweet*

I might have been mistaken, but I believe he meant he's interested in buying those 2 ships :-)

I think that $500 would be a good start, but to be honest, if I made something that large I wouldn't sell it for $1000, irregardless of the price to replace the bricks. Those MOCs would have around 2000 pieces in them. Additionally, they may already have been recycled...

Why can't you just make one youself using Bricklink?

That's quite a good idea, that also is going to cost you between $250-$500, just take a good look at the pictures and let your imagination take over.

I'm not going to lie to you, I'm not much a ship builder. But you think 500$ could get me the pieces to build those? Cause I need a Pirate Ship and a NAVY ship.

I just don't think I'll be able to create one that good.

How do I contact these builders anyway?
