Where to buy Lego in Paris????

Recommended Posts

I wil be visiting Paris in two weeks time and wondered if anyone familliar with the city could advise me on the best Lego stocking toyshops please? I've already checked the Lego site and discovered that, disappointingly, there aren't any actual Lego stores in France (like the excellent one in Cologne I went to last year). I don't suppose there's a Lego store at Disneyland Paris (like the one in Downtown Disney, Orlando)????

Any info appreciated,

Holly

Many thanks to all three of you - that is very helpful :-)

I wonder if I could ask just one more question - what are official prices in France like in relation to those in the UK? I found prices in Germany to be a fair bit less than England - is France the same?

Prices in France are definitly cheaper than in the UK and are mostly cheaper than Germany on normal retail prices. Germany has loads of "specials" France doesn't have for instance.

Cheers Holly ;-)

XWingyoda,

Wondered if I could please ask you one more question (yet again)?!

Can you tell me roughly how far TRU is from Charles De Gaul Airport? And roughly how long it would take me to travel there by Metro? Will I need to change trains?

(Sorry that's THREE questions :-$ )

No worries at all Holly ;-)

The easiest and quickest way is this:

* From Charles de Gaulle (CDG), take the only line you can: RER line B3 and go all the way to the station called Chatelet les Halles

* Change and take line A1, A3 or A5 to go to La D

there's a TRU at Torcy as well, about 30-40 minutes by RER if I'm not mistaken. it's in a new shopping mall, 5 minutes away from the train station, just in case that would be closer to where you're staying...

Ah I never been there but looking on the map, Torcy is on the A4, 3 stations only from Disneyland ;-)

If you are coming from CDG, I really would suggest La D

I'd budget one hour to go there though. I find 45 minutes quite optimistic. This will mainly depend of the time you are planing on going there.

For instance during rush hours there's one RER (suburb trains) every minute. One every 20 during slow hours.

The best way to do all of this would be for you to have Yoda as a guide lol :-P

Thank you everyone for all of the information. At the moment I'm thinking I will visit the La Defense store when I got off the plane as I know the Imperial Inspection are there - however, if someone were able to tell me that they were also at the Torcy store I could go there fairly easily at any time during the week which would probably be easier!

Good idea because that shop is just brilliant !! A real feast for the eyes hehe !! I would have LOVED it as a kid - hey, I still do btw :-D

On a side note there is also the Durmstrang ship at 50% off right now ;-)

The easiest would be to call them to ask. When are you planning to be there ? I can call them just a few days before you leave and let you know on this thread - I think it woukld be the easiest.

Cheers

I can't get over how kind you (and everyone) are being - that would be very helpful.

We arrive on Wednesday 4th October and leave on Sunday 8th - if I know the Torcy store has them it might be easier than trying to go there when we arrive at the airport or make our Paris sightseeing day a bit less rushed - though I'd like to get to the La Defense shop if I can.

Many thanks, I appreciate it :-)

Hey, I'm going to Paris next Easter, so this thread is mighty helpful. :-) Does La Defense have a PAB wall?

@ Holly,

My pleasure ;-) I'll call Torcy on the 2nd and post the answer the same day.

@ The Kid,

Unfortunatly not |-/ France is really bad with PAB: the only one in Paris is in the Galleries Lafayette and its tiny >:-(

Tiny but still has some usefull pieces, especially if you need bricks to build houses. It has everything from windows to doors.

as far as I can remember, it's really expensive... the bags have become very small and i once calculated that you needed to get 300 1x4 plates to make it worth your while compared to bl, so classics bricks would be rather expensive ... actually it's not meant for us, Lego specialists, but for the general public who has no clue about bl...

Thanks everyone. I'll check out the PAB if I'm nearby anyway. ;-) How much is the Sail Barge in France (especially at TRU La Defense)?

Thank you yet again for all of your help, Yoda *sweet*

It's getting near now and I'm quite excited about the trip - although it's mainly about taking the children to Disneyland we'll also have a little time in Paris - anywhere else you would recommend we go in our limited time there (when I'm not hurrying between toyshops!)???

No worries at all Holly, always glad yo help when I can ;-)

In order to help you with your question I have 2 questions to ask you (hehe its your turn :-P ): how long will you have to visit Paris and is what you want to do more kid oriented ? (I mean I can give you a list of museums and what have you, but I'm not sure your kids are enthusiast about it ;-) )

Cheers,

*yoda*
