So the first task is over already?

You already completed the first task.

First Task:

Guildsmen and Guildswomen are expected to have a character prepared that will represent them in MOCS, and will appear as their avatar on Eurobricks. I strongly suggest you include the colors of the Guild, and get some flags ready, our enemies will tremble before the might of the South!

Alright, sorry I was unable to build something for it, I've just been very busy this week... But could we perhaps get a bit more time for the second task than mere five days?

The task is still ongoing. Only 2 entries have been made.

Sorry, I meant the second task of building an army.

But yeah, I hope I'll get something done for the Watch Tower task...

Lost Vega Should be on the island.

Ahhh, you beat me to it, I was totally thinking on the island. A nice secluded place by the ocean seems like a perfect place for a nice vacation spot.

@Sandy- I don't think the army building challenge is over just yet, I believe we were just fleshing out how the main army would look and what direction we wanted to take with it. I'm still putting together a rag-tag one and working on some creatures and machines to be shown later.

Gex,

this scroll accords very well to our publicly known trade routes, and there are some company secrets I can share with all of Kaliplin.

The southern marsh and the whole of the South coast is rich in fish, and we have some trade with small villages along the cliffs of the Southern island Gorr. We also have caravanserries of pearls from the villages on the isles of the inland sea. We supply provisions to a fortress on the Eastern cape, in exchange for certain items of a specialised and draconian nature, which conoisseurs value highly.

We absolutely deny that we know where Losst Vegga is, and we would like to put a definitive end to the rumours that the General Trading Company maintains mysterious storage facilities there.

The meagre farmlands of the West are possibly even vaster than you have depicted, we have certain upstream agricultural assets in the area, don`t put them on the map please.

The Board are still preparing for the annual report, so they are not yet ready to publish their images. Apparently there has been a wardrobe clash.

However, we are delighted to share that we have certain friends of convenience in the East who work with us to protect trade between Petreaea and Qarkyr. They too will ensure safety, or otherwise, for travellers. For the present, they are content to let all countrymen pass unmolested.

No less than 2 Kings, a Shaman and a Goddess lead this well respected security company. They say humans and elves travel with them too, for reasons of their own. We have never asked what is behind the masks. We hope they are masks.

Baydara - my old friend! how are thee? - the Governor sends his regard to his strongest supporter. It is good that you came, we need people like you in this time of growing unease.

--

Gex! Fantastic map! You are certainly talented Cartographer!

I didn't have a particular idea for the island - I just thought it'd be a good to have a reserve spot for interesting ideas - like Lost Vegga ;)

--

Rasputin, it is good that you bring word of our Mountain Mommies in the east. It reassures my bones that the eastern leg of the Oil Road is protected by our tribe friends.

--

Clarification on Tasks 1, 2, and Challenge 1.

Tasks are things that everyone should do - Create their own Sigfi, and create their own little army - this will always be a task for all member if they are so inclined.

We also discussed how the City Guard would look - they would be the only uniform army, within the city walls - using the Lion Knights as a torso base with dark blue arms.

So take all the time you want ;)

For the challenge - they will all be roughly 1 month in duration - we'll pick the top 5 to 'compete' against the other guilds - and the bulk of the points will be awarded based on those builds. While the rest of the builds gets the remainder of the points. And the points will eventually be used for something...

So it's important that everyone builds us some fortifications and towers!

While it is fantastic to see all these new friends and their armies, we should start looking at the task of building our great empire. Now that we have determined the Uniform of the City Guard, I have commissioned the building of a tailor shop for our brave men and women that protects our City.

6341007895_7028dac4d1_z.jpg

Let me present to you Yoikbreg the tailor! He shall provide our army uniforms for the Petraea City Guard.

He was a master tailor until the ... he was turned. Now he continues his trade for that is what he knows.

He's not the most talkative tailor, but he excels at mindless tasks and works throughout the night.

Several of our City Guard were nice enough to model their new uniforms for Dextrus.

Nice build SI-Mocs, really inspiring. Thanksgiving break is coming up so my parts availability is going to increase 10 fold so I should be able to crank out a watch tower, right now I'm in the design process. Keep it up.

K-Nut good job on our first complete tower, I really like the lion heads and I think they will go perfect with the rest of our architecture. The idea of the coast line is well done, personally I would aim for a more uniform tower over a taller one, but I do like the wall offsets with the little alcoves and would've liked to see it on the other side of the tower as well. Maybe some furniture as well? But a great start, somebody catch that Avalonian :sing:

Remember fellow guildmates, it's not a race. We have a month for the Watch Tower / out posts. And points will be rewarded for them - so feel free to post WIP shots for feedback and suggestions etc and refine the builds!

(though yes, I did race to get something build out there )

Excellent tower K-nut!

I agree with WBD - we don't necessarily need really tall towers in the deserts and near hte oceans I'd think our land is fairly flat. Now in the forest and mountains - we'll need some really tall towers.

I actually found some of my Tan Lion heads and thought the same thing about using them ;)

The use of colours is nice as well. Maybe build up the left side like the right? Some symmetry would be nice.

Yeah, I just need some more of the 1x2x5's. Thanks for the input!

Mountains: Probably

Hills: Only sand dunes

Forests: Not likely, though we do have Oasis's.

Not quite... we have mountain ranges in the East, some forest in the west. some Coast line in the south, and lots of desert in the middle.

Northern Siccus badland has grass lands ... and of course we have caves and tunnels that run... well let's not say in public where they go - only that we have them.

so basically we have everything you could possibly want to build ;)

Nice builds, SI-mocs and K-nut!

Should we have an index of Kaliphlin MOCs somewhere? Maybe edit the first post of this thread to put them in there?

Great idea Gex!

I'll keep a set of links for the mocs on the first post.

And possibly everyone's intro stories as well.

I also have the 3rd post that we can use to list such things (way to go B&W, taking the 2nd post  )

Maybe we could organize the index? Like so...

Round 1: Watch Towers

Tower 1

Free build:

Freebuild 1

But of course replace "Free build 1" with the name of the MOC, in this case, the Tailors shop?

I have an idea for desert 'watch towers'. Basically, they just constitute of dozens of ruins dotting the landscape mocked up into makeshift shelters. Most of the time, these shelters are just a wall with some sort of covering to provide some shade, and serve as a temporary resting place for the desert guards. There's some long lasting food and water and occasionally weapons in these shelters, but security is negligible - after all, only the bravest and craziest warriors wander the desert, leaving no room for thieves.

What do you guys think?

dragon age origins(game) is a good source for inspirations - their concept of building was something like that: different styles of build, build after build on the same building, which were ruined by constant wars, an then build again, or over build

To Dextrus Flagg,

After my most recent travel to Qarkyr escorting a shipment of some of the new uniforms, I was delighted to see the hard work of the cities aviation program finally coming to fruition. The capturing and domestication of the local griffin population which inhabit the cliffs and crags of the Southern Rakath mountain range, is now almost down to a science. The hatchlings are captured early on and upon 2 years have reached their full stature and are able to bear a rider upon their back. Currently the city is using the beasts to serve in message bearing and scouting capacities, but the possibility is certainly there for aerial combat troops should the need ever arise.

img_3119.jpg

Also I am pleased to tell you that the restoration of one of the watch towers overlooking our border with the Eastern Darklands is in the works and should finish construction within the month.

My next job is scheduled to take me and my men south amongst the dwarf tribes and the oil fields, I have heard news of the development of some sort of cavalry down there and I am intrigued to discover the short fellows' progress.

Signed, Captain Hardiel

Great MOC there! Was working on my version of the griffin but you got there first! Nice leg design, may I borrow upon it and credit you?

Loving the friendly competition amongst the guilds which pushes MOC and creativity to the new boundaries!
