I don't think the lack of Crown torsos is much of an issue, I used Lion torsos too. I think as long as they're chainmail torsos, you'll be fine :classic: .

There's seemingly no limit to the natural wealth of the Mitgardia. Furs, Timber, Ore and Fish are all present in abundance yet the North guards her treasures closely. Only heavily experienced and specialised trading companies, such as the Verden's Ende (Worlds End) Caravan Co. are able to successfuly reach the most remote of trade posts and return laden with exotic goods from the great cities beyond the North.

6331566105_ce93ea4373.jpg

Hvar Icewind, a true son of the North, is the proud owner of Worlds End and is often found accompaning the largest caravans on their journies South and West. He is accompanied by Harold Blackbone, his spychief, Jorgen Kerrow, his master of coin and Raoul and Fidel, his personal bodyguards freed from the gladiator pits of the South. Hvar also has many friends amongst the barbarian tribes and is able to pass through most territories and trade freely without conflict from the tribes.

Welcome Viceroy it is a true pleasure to see a tradesman in our midst. Mitgardia will need a strong economy to fuel its forges and march its armies.

Khorne and Ecclesiastes, step forward.

For your valiant efforts in helping design our mighty armies and tribesmen I give each of you the title Hersir. (Major general)

You are 2 of 4 mighty generals who will lead the Mitgardian Army and defend the North, and as the story of the world progresses unique build opportunities and perks will be available to you!

Khorne will be Hersir of the Norsemen, and will be leading the culmination of Norse warriors into battle.

Ecclesiastes will be Hersir of Valholl the capital city of Mitgardia, and will defend it's mighty gates against invaders.

Two more Hersirs will be named, so keep up the good work Guildsmen, and keep innovating and expanding the might of the North!

Thank you, most honourable Jarl Nibelung, Lord of the Guild and all Mitgardia. I will do my utmost best to unite as many Norse tribes as possible under the banner of our glorious guild! I, Childeric, swear my eternal allegiance once more.

I'm curious to see how these 'abilities' play out once the Community Build-of begins and what the perks are exactly. Thanks again, Sirens-of-Titan  .

Oh exalted monarch Jarl Nibelung! Do we have need of beasts of burden and tundra beasts of war to travel in the frozen snowy North?

Here are my prelimary designs for a woolly mammoth archer tower and wooly rhino knight.

DSCN8194.jpg

DSCN8197.jpg

DSCN8196.jpg

Also, a custom white tiger that could be fielded as a royal pet, or barbarian scout.

DSCN8195.jpg

I'm still refining the designs of the mammoth and rhino, and what they could be used for. Heavy(no pun intended) calvary, or beasts of burden to drag trebuchet, ballista or catapult carts. Also, I could use some tips on making nice saddles and detailed armour.

Dug out my crownies and vikings to get the torsos, and my city soccer team for the green hands. Getting kind of late here in my part of Earth. So I'll have the standardised army done up by weekend, along with avatar fig, miscellanous units, regiments.

We'll show the other guilds the North is not to be messed with. Winter is coming.

To show that your Guild Leader is an active participant I present the following:

6331975445_cb1b7432da_z.jpg

Thanks to our new Hersirs the uniformed soldiers of Mitgardia can now take their place beside the Jarl. (Pictured here telling a joke everyone is too nervous not to laugh at)

Here are some Norsemen Units. Elite Berserkers; armored only from the waist down, these mountains of bulging muscle can tear any shield wall to bits in mere seconds.

6332726666_d63830cc47_z.jpg

Lastly, some good news:

The Goblin Clans of the Frosty Mountain Pass have just been given enough shiny gold to join the proud ranks of Mitgardia and not shoot arrows at human travelers in the dense forests.

6331975531_5754888643_z.jpg

That is all for now Guildsmen, keep on building and innovating!

Sirens of Titan: Thanks for the welcome. The Worlds End Caravan Co. pledges its full alligence to the Guild and hopes that it may continue to serve and bring prosperity to the realm. A recent trade mission to a remote barbarian clan has brought about new allies...

Wolf Clan

The Wolf Clan are skilled hunters living on the fringes of Mitgardia. While they enjoy their indepedence the elders have fortold of a time when they must unite under the green and yellow banner with their fellow Northerners to save their way of life. An envoy is on his way to Khorne, Hersis of the Norsemen, to declare their support.

Never before had I noticed how scarce the green arms are in my collection. I scavenged a pair from a Space Police II officer, but that was the only expendable pair. An excuse for a BL order? Yay!

nay, I'll get the toy story soldiers, they are on sale for really cheap these days. I'm more wondering about the yellow flag ...

Apart from that, the carpenters of Helgestorp thought that donating a trebuchet to the good cause might be a nice move:

Our guild is going to single-handedly (is that mathematically possible?) double the prices of the soccer figure torsos on Bricklink.

After reviewing this thread a few times I just want to say well done everyone, we have some fantastic builders (did someone mention Mammoths!?! *oh2* ) and ideas for our guild and I'm sure we will do well in any competition. I have some slight concerns about the current overlap with Avalonia, particularly their leaders suggestion of a standard of soldier that is near identical to ours (see Derfel's post in Avalonia thread at 08:29 PM). Also which faction can lay claim to the elven 'elk shield' (I figure the beast in question is more at home in Northern forests?) I would just like some assurance before I go a bit crazy on bricklink and so I wont get caught out by a change in art direction. Thank you.

To Etzel's post below: Thank you for your assurance. I will try and focus on round shields, just a shame i have 10 elven shields already ordered :(

As for the similarities, I think the jury is still out...

Regarding shields I think we should go for round ones as much as possible. There are 3 different from the collectible minifig series, numerous different from the Viking theme, + some other like this:

Let our bright colours of green and yellow be our foremost sign. The similarities to Avalonia isn't that big I think since they go for a darker and duller version of green, and we can use lots of yellow feathers and plumes to show of our proud armies.

I think the look & feel of the army used by Khorne its very good so I have use it in mine:

6332395083_af6bdebf3b_b.jpg

I would introduce a new corps for the army, the guild´s Royal Engineer Corps. Trained by the Dwarves in Omurtag, this group would be in charge of building military elements such as forts or war machines.

Long live Jarl Nibelung and long live Mitgardia.

Ahh yes, I see the problem here. I have used viking torsos for my figs, and given them dark green legs and sand green arms. I was going to use crownie torsos, but I saw you guys were using them also. I've been urging my guild to try and go for a more dark green look, as its more the primary colour, so we may opt for the green dragon knight look. Not sure yet, although I still think your group stands out with all the yellow which looks great. As for the Elves, I think its just one of those things, im pretty sure there will be people in every guild using the Elf shield and look, and we can't really 'lay claim' to a faction, so really not sure what to do about that.

Thats the problem though, we have to try and please everbody, and laying claim to factions is difficult, as some people might want to be in a certain group, but don't have the figures to take part in that group.

Hi Derfel, I think its just the shields that are giving your men a Nordic look. We've got to share the green and I guess we have a degree of responsibility ourselves to use a bit of yellow here and there as you've touched upon.

My suggestion to resolve this problem would be to quickly ensure the guild colours and soldiers are different and accessible enough, after that everything else is fair game and its up to you to customise a particular race or faction with your own guilds colours. I think we have to accept that Orcs, Elves, Dwarfs etc may happen to live in more than one region and may serve under more than one banner.

Rejoice Guild Member O-S-T, you have been selected for a special assignment; you will be honoring the Gods at the autumn festival with a song and dance this year! This is a great honor, so prepare your routine, impress the spectators and a special position will be unlocked for you in the royal court! (Hint, bells and juggling may be involved)

Today has been a glorious day for the Guild of Mitgardia! We have gotten an army, recruited new settlers, and assigned our first two mighty generals.

A few Notes: Welcome back Guildsmen:

Stash2sixx: You honor us with your presence sir, I am gleeful that Mitgardia is the Guild you chose.

_dargor_ : Welcome to the Guild! Your ranger and force of uniformed soldiers will be a significant advantage for us on the battlefield! (Also your engineers will be happy to hear there is a lot of work ahead for them to do)

Busboy489: Welcome to the guild! Wonderful figures and excellent photos, the use of hands as flags is ingenious! I hope you keep coming up with good ideas; I certainly be watching to see how you advance the Guild!

kabel: good plan for getting green arms, your trebuchet is very unique and looks solid.

Viceroy: Good to see you're expanding our influence! There are quite a few jobs the Guild needs a tradesman for, I hope you develop it into a full-blown enterprise.

Tomcat RIO: Both your chariot and battle mammoths are very unique and interesting. I would perhaps lose the cannon; we do not posses such advanced dwarven technology as gunpowder.

O-S-T: Either your orc or human figures will do; make it an 16X16 vignette and have your figure wear this:

62537pb02.jpg?0

A big note to all Guild Members:

Throughout this contest I will be updating the first post of this thread with all current news and build challenges as soon as they are decided, so check back regularly.

The first build challenge will be announced in just a few days, so until then we encourage that you acquire parts and flags, keep building and posting your sigfigs/armies, and stay tuned as there will be an official world of Historica History thread Published that will both explain the background of the world, as well as give the exact rules of the building competition.

Keep in mind that each Guild is a little different, and in Mitgardia special assignments and titles given out now will later translate to perks and bonuses, so I will be looking for outstanding members who can fill the positions.

I want to see some more innovative armies; there are two more positions open for Hersir (Major General) and they will be assigned based on contribution to the first two challenges.

You all make your Guild Leader Proud! Keep up the phenomenal work, and know that our best days are coming!

Greetings clansmen! I present myself, Olfox Scalebane, and the rest of the Scalebane family, and offer our allegiance to Mitgardia. For centuries the Scalebanes have festered a bitter hatred for the dragons of the north and have made it their personal duty to slay as many of the beasts as possible. Olfen Scalebane (bones pictured), Olfox's father, died to the fires of Smaux, the largest and most diabolical living dragon, while aboard his great longship. It is said that the dragon lifted the ship completely out of the water and skewered it atop an icy spire before finishing the captain and his crew. The Scalebanes will now stop at nothing for vengeance. The family has always been fiercely patriotic, although the people of Mitgardia are often wary of the family's somewhat barbaric ways.

From left to right: Olfox's sister Olessa, his younger brother Olken, Olfox, and his older brother Oroll.

The family carries their own weapons fashioned from the bones, spines, and claws of slain dragons. Olfox himself carries the dismembered tail barb of a dragon. He plans to fashion the anchor of his father's longship (when his Bricklink order arrives default_satisfied.gif) to the tail and someday plow it into Smaux's skull.
