Empire Intel Dossier:

Bounty Hunter Sun

6287065709_2d9f32bbd2_z.jpg

The origins of Bounty Hunter Sun are not known. S/he started making appearances several years ago, capturing men long thought to be dead.

From Intel gathered from bounties, we have established that Sun is an intellectual first, and a fighter second. Sun's methods are varied but tends to trap its pray with little or no fighting. Though we do have reports that when he is forced to engage in scuffles he easily out matches his opponents.

6287583328_60e350640f_z.jpg

Once captured, the Bounties are placed in a secure holding cell with force beam bars. Unlike most Bounty Hunters ships the cell is directly adjacent to the ships cockpit - allowing Sun to talk or monitor the prisoner without the need of cameras or other monitoring devices.

We have also had multiple reports of Bounty Hunter Sun engaging in games with his captives - with the promise of freedom if the Bounty beats Sun - we have no confirmation if s/he would be true to their word - as no one has reported fairly beating Sun.

Bounty Hunter's Sun's Equipment:

Sun perpetually wears some sort of luminance face mask which has been seen to fluctuate in brightness depending on the situation. It is not known what species Sun is nor its appearance. While some speculate the helmet is to hide a disfigurement, others believe that the mask is donned to strike fear into its prey.

Sun's other most visible attribute is his Light Sabre staff. While he does not appear to be in tune with the Force, he does wield it comfortably. Reports show that s/he does not actually use the Light Sabre staff as a weapon - instead tends to use it as a visual and auditory distraction while s/he uses a blaster to actually subdue each bounty.

Bounty Hunter Sun's ship: The Tzu

6287089977_55466db5cc_z.jpg

The Tzu appears to be a retrofitted Cardonian Medical Transport Ship. Originally designed to retrieve and exfiltrate medical patients in war zones and rapidly transport them to Medical Stations. It seems logical that Sun would use this as the basis for the Bounty ship as it has the armour, the speed and maneuverability.

Sensor scans and photo reconnaissance can conclude that the Tzu has added two C class Ion Cannons to the Tzu, as well as a rear facing Ion Turret. It is speculated that the Tzu also has a host of counter-measures and other offensive weapons but the evidence is inconclusive - as no ship has ever survived combat against the Tzu.

Conclusion:

6287606262_29ce6a3016_z.jpg

Bounty Hunter Sun is considered extremely dangerous - he should not be approached or impeded. S/He does not appear to have any political affiliation and will work for the highest bidder.

Cleared for Bounty work.

So are we now allowing any space MOC to be on the Star Wars forum? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just wondering. Should we link the two forums together?

It's for the FBTB MOC Madness contest, and the contest is SW-based.

*reads title*I see what you did there!

This ship is 8 different kinds of crazy! All the angles and peripherals all mesh together to make it work surprisingly well, not that seeing good ships from you is surprising!

Good luck in the contest! I say this mainly because there are a lot of other good entries too! :cry_happy:

I'm not the biggest fan of abstract ship shapes ever, but I think you've done a really good job with this. The three color glow is awesome. I also like all of the greebling on this one -- it really gives the ship a more "underground" and unofficial look that is appropriate for a SW bounty hunter.

Thanks for all the comments guys & Gals!

 I love the intense greebling and complicated angles on this one. Perfect for a bounty hunter.

You know me, I love me my greebs ;)

Wow thanks for the glob ;)

That ship reminds me of something out of Mass Effect, like from the Collectors.

*blink*

... wow... I think you're right. IT DOES remind me of something from ME! maybe it crept in subconsciously.

I  the detailing on the ship and he does look one mean bounty hunter....I wonder if he ever had a run in with Boba ?

Thanks!

I would say if they would duke it out - Boba would probably win - but the Tzu could out race him!

Nah SW forums has a very unique feel - where as Sci-Fi is far more open - including non 'space' things.

Certain people have particular focus and I think the two forums coexist nicely now.

Haha I knew you were a smart one ;)

Thanks! I'm going to need all the luck I can get - they're some pretty heaving SW hitters out there - frankly I'll feel accomplished if I make it into bracket round.

SW isn't my usual theme.

Thanks a lot!

I tried to build something ... different - while trying to keep it in the SW realm - overall I think I did ok - hiding the battery pack and wiring the lights was particularly problematic to try to keep the shape I had in my head.

How is it Star Wars based?

Build a new original bounty hunter and a ship for them to pilot.

Spaceships and bounty hunters aren't even close to being Star Wars specific. If anything, it asks you to branch away from Star Wars and do something original. You could take any ship MOC on the Space forum with a pilot and call him a bounty hunter, and you've fit the loose guidelines.

I mean, I don't care if we allow Space sets over here, but if we allow this one then we shouldn't redirect other Space MOCs either. Might as well let them all in.

How is it Star Wars based?

At the very least, all the prizes are Star Wars-based, and the contest banner has a Death Star in it. Yes, you could argue that the MOCs themselves aren't necessarily Star Wars-based, but is there really reason to get that technical when complaining about which forum an MOC has been posted in?

Great ship. I really love the asymmetry of the thing. In particular, I like that you've put the cockpit on the side rather than on the top of the ship. The lighting is again 1st rate and really lends an eerie quality to the whole thing. The whole thing seems very utilitarian which would makes complete sense considering the ship is being used by a bounty hunter. It has that jumble-of-parts quality that makes the Falcon so appealing.

I don't want to cause trouble ... I will gladly move this over to Sci-Fi if it's appropriate. While my original thought was well - it's for a SW centric LEGO site, building a original ship for Star Wars Universe (implied, not expressly written) - plus I saw some other ships already here - made sense to post them in the SW forum.

But you do have a point - with those guidelines pretty much any ship with a 'bounty hunter' could be considered.

I think It's best to let a Moderator make the call and determine if original ship that were meant to be in the SW realm - actually belong here in the SW forum.

If so then great. if not we can easily move the thread!

Wow. That's one crazy ship. It's very busy, the angles of the ship are cool. Nice build.

Thanks very much ;)

Crazy ship for Crazy bounty hunter

Thanks man!

It's on the side *AND* at a non perpendicular angle

(it's built off a pentagon) - the jumble of parts - or greeble - was always a key element for SW ships for me - I guess that's why I have the sub-concious need to always put in greeble - cause Starwars did it

What a gorgeous ship. I love all the lighting effects and all the attention to detail :wub_drool: It's really all fantastic. I must admit that when I look at this ship, I can't say that I'd associate it with "Star Wars", because it's not much in the style of SW ships, which are grimy and dirty and relatively inelegant. That or we've got a clean neat freak of a bounty hunter on our hands :tongue: . Following these guidelines, you'd probably be more successful in achieving an authentic SW ship. Regardless, it's a beautiful ship and you've got something proud to be of. Best of luck in the competition :sweet: .

Also, love the name!

Ah yes the canon vs. non-canon. OT vs. Preq. Expanded vs. Theatrical. SWU/Space/Sci-Fi over lap so much drawing a distinct line is like trying to prove evolution or creation. The art should fit the desired target. In this case it meets the requirements of a Star Wars based contest so…

IT WILL STAY HERE. It's a Star Wars ship the way I see it. You simply exercised your right of creative freedom and this is your OWN interpretation of a bounty hunter ship (which is awesome BTW ), so no one can claim that it isn't Star Warsy enough just because some say it doesn't fit in their own strict personal definition of a Star Wars vehicle. Thanks for sharing this and being magnanimous amidst this controversial issue raised. :classic:

Thanks again everyone for the kind words...

That's interesting! I had similar conversations/arguments regarding what would make a good 'bounty ship' - My first iteration actually was a lot more studly and greebly - with even a large chunk missing from the front ... but everyone kept suggesting I smooth it out (as studless is the fad these days) I guess I went a bit overboard in smoothing it out

All this dissection into what makes a SW ship actually kinda makes me want to build an TOS-equse Empire or Rebel ship

The most famous of these, the Redemption, was modified to serve as a medical frigate and was seen at the end of Empire.

oh REDEMPTION.

I actually had a bit of that ship in mind especially when I was building out the fin - even going so far as intended to build the entire back half of entirely greeble - but I steered away trying something more 'original' - but it's a total coincidence that I made the back story also a medical ship..

...is like trying to prove evolution or creation.

I'm pretty sure my ship's bricks evolved from ABS. Then again ... semi-intelligent created did build it...

IT WILL STAY HERE. It's a Star Wars ship the way I see it.

<snip>

Thanks for sharing this and being magnanimous amidst this controversial issue raised. :classic:

Thanks for the ruling (and the kind comments)

I think my new favourite word is: magnanimous (who else had to look it up? )

Just call me Si-Magnanimous

I love that you recognized the ship name but not the class. Most people only know it as a ‘Rebel medical frigate’. And of course several individuals have already pointed out the resemblance.
