Batman coming back

Recommended Posts

Oh man, those constraction figures look ridiculous! I'm pretty disappointed. But at least Iron Man looks decent. I might get him if the price isn't too high. Batman was the only other one I was interested in, but he looks stupid with those spider legs coming out of his back, and I've hardly ever seen him wield a staff like that. If they add some cloth in order to make them look more like wings, I might change my mind. And on the bright side, it's a good starting point for a Batmech MOC.

Correction, the Batman outfit on display isn't the same as the original, so maybe the one on display will be what the sets will have, and the one in the teaser is an exclusive given away just at ComicCon?

The way I see it is that the one in the teaser is the one that comes in the Dark Knight Rises sets, and the classic Bats is the one that comes in the DC Universe/Classic Batman sets.

Thor: The hammer looks good. But the hair looks a bit too light, he needs a darker blonde color. Also, where is his helmet?

He doesn't wear a helmet in the movies, and I actually like the hair color. It's more accurate to the comics, so you kinda get the best of both worlds.

And yes, that Cap does remind a lot of yours!

If LEGO knows what is good for them, there will be a 60s Batmobile in the works. I would buy that in an instant.

:oh3:

I go away to school for a while, and come back to this?

awwwwww...... college...lego....college...lego.....

well there goes my wallet!

I just hope this doesn't nullify the rumors of an Avengers license. :look: If we get both... well, then the Mayans will be proven right as the world will most likely implode from the sheer awesomenes.

Now excuse me while I completely geek out.

I agree!

I bet theres gonna be a flood of new AFOLs now, all who rekindle their passion with beloved superheroes! And we'll probably get some people who love superheroes only to have them realize their love for all things lego! Are community will grow! AFOL's will declare world domination! (or is that my inner-villain taking? )

Yeah I agree.

I hoping that a new Batman line will make the old sets come down in price as I would love to pic a few up but they have infalated so much. Now with new Batman sets it will either make the older ones more deirable and expensive, of maybe less desirable as you can now easyly get Batman Lego. Wait and see.

Those (non-prelim) figures look stunning - Poison Ivy, Wolverine and Wonderwoman being the highlights. I'm glad we're going to be seeing a large portion of Batman's rogues in the first year. One thing I found to be interesting was Nick Fury being listed under X-Men and not The Avengers. Since Wolverine is sporting his yellow costume does this mean we can expect to see a peach colored Fury instead of a black one?

Speaking of X-Men, the only disapointment so far is the small roster of characters. There's a lot of ground to cover as X-Men doesn't just have a long list of villains but a dozen heroes as well. Only being a small part of the license means we won't be filling the roster as quickly as we would with Star Wars. Still I can't wait for the inevitable X-Jet and hopefully a Sentinal in the future.

what

what

both licences what is thisaklshdklhgasdglkjsdgk

...

in my dream i am the AFOL. its me

and THEN the big toymaker comes for a little one-on-one

but it turns out to be CRAZY what kind of dual-licence this guy has

im telling you.... both mavrel and dc like this is UNREAL, it doesnt even HAPPEN most of the time

the comiccorn is on FIRE

That's pretty much the only response I can get out now that adequately covers what I'm getting here. This is just /whoa/. Even if there's precedent for one simultaneously holding DC and Marvel licences... Just /wow/. Odds are still slim that I'll be able to get my hands on any, but hey, LEGO Iron Man now actually exists. I am content.

As for the figs themselves, the DC themselves are all-around glorious and wonderful. The Marvel ones... not so much. Something feels kind of off about Iron Man's helmet and the Hulk (though I really appreciate that they're doing a larger fig for him), and I can't say I'm at all fond of how they rendered Wolverine's claws. Got no complaints about the Captain or Thor, though, but they don't really have much in the way of necessary specialisations like the others. But hey, almost certainly prototypes - I'm sure these qualms will be rectified.

Thank you, LEGO and Marvel. Thank you for proving me oh so wrong.

*rubs eyes*

I love waking up to pictures like this! Thanks to Hinckley for posting hi-res ones in the other thread. I'll post my opinion here though.

IVY!!!! I am in love! She looks so absolutely lovely, I love the little leaves in her hair, I love the hair itself (much better than the non-haircut she had before), and all the detail on her suit! I really can't wait to get her.

Joker is awesome, too. I like his hew face, and I think the hair is different, too. Thumbsup!

Wonderwoman is just a must-have. I always wanted a Wonder Woman minifig, and this one is just fantastic.

Catwoman, the most important one :D, she has a slightly different torso print. Not spectacular, but it's great to have the lady back.

A blue Batman - I am in heaven. Take this, you 70$ - pricetags on Bricklink!

Superman - I'll buy him just for the hairpiece :D It's fantastic.

Wolverine looks pretty good, especially with the clip-on claws.

Hulk looks like excellent company for my useless trolls. I hope him and Iron Man will be improved.

All in all - I am very content and will start saving now.

Both Marvel AND DC superheroes? That's insane! How did they do this? Will they be sold together in sets?

Anyway, I'm very happy to hear that! Definitely one of my dream licenses coming true! I was always more of a Marvel fan myself, but they all look great! Can't wait to get some of them!

Like an idiot, I didn't read the TOC properly... only open to US residents... I did this with the thought it might be nice for kids to have something free to colour in while they wait for those awesome sets...

If anyone would like it, for their kids to colour in, please feel free to download the full size version of Lego Superman from my my Flickr page.

Great and unexpected news! I don't care at all about Superman, but Batman on the other hand - I missed the first sets and how I will buy some!

I really hope for cool sets with interesting structures. What about Harley, will she be there? The Joker is included, so?

Aw badgerboy, the Superman drawing is awesome! I'd have loved to enter myself. Maybe some superhero-themed Eurobricks contest will show up, who knows? Fingers crossed :D

As far as minifigs are concerned, I'm largely impressed. Obviously Hulk and Iron Man are unfinished, and out of the two I'm more impressed with Hulk. His hands look like the Giant Troll hands from fantasy-era Castle, but with four fingers instead of three. Love Poison Ivy's hair printing. The Wonder Woman, Wolverine, and Thor figures are all outstanding. Joker's not bad either, even though he doesn't have the same maniacal look as the one in the LEGO Batman theme.

Interestingly, Batman's costume here is different than the one he's been seen in on the website, suggesting that we might get multiple figs of certain characters. Perhaps not, though-- only time will tell.

As for the Hero Factory-styled buildable figures, I'm again impressed. They're much more appealing to me than Build-A-Buzz, even if they're extremely stylized versions of the characters. Batman is cool and while not a great likeness is at least as cool as many similarly-stylized Batman action figures seen on store shelves. Green Lantern looks cool, even if his glowy power-ring-thingy is really useless-looking. Iron man is amazing, and the building system definitely suits him best-- he doesn't have to be as heavily stylized as the other heroes to look consistent with Hero Factory parts.

My biggest disappointments are Hulk's inexplicable silver armor and the fact that his pants aren't purple, or even dark blue. The vivid blue just doesn't look good on the lime green figure, and his colors need to be toned down more like the minifigure's colors, I think. At the same time, these look preliminary. Hulk has no fingers, for example, something I can't imagine happening on the final set. Unfortunately, I think his puny lower legs may be here to stay.

The buildable figures look like they'll be great for parts. Iron Man has some lovely new parts in red (21 Bright Red), which isn't a rare color but is always a useful one. He also has amazing gold parts (297 Warm Gold) I'm sure many Hero Factory fans will love. Green Lantern has abundant parts in what looks to be classic green (28 Dark Green), a color that few Hero Factory parts have appeared in. Batman does the same thing with blue (23 Bright Blue) parts, even if it's a more common color than classic green. Hulk has some amazing lime green (119 Bright Yellowish Green) parts, most of which look like they'd fit in just fine with Hero Factory sets.

I can't wait to see what sorts of System set designs are planned for this theme! But it's a treat even to see such good pictures of the sets and figs we've seen this far in advance.

my thoughts exactly  I can stop kicking myself for not buying things way back when.

I hope Freeze gets a decent helmet this time - we've got the perfect piece, just need some neckwear to receive it

When I first read about the larger, buildable figures, I hoped they might be the large characters, like a Sentinel or Galactus.

You can probably imagine my disappointment when I saw what the actual buildable figures look like. Sigh ...

Seems like a wasted opportunity there. A large, six- or seven-inch tall buildable Sentinel would have been amazing.

It was the same with me, I rally wanted Galactus and now that you mentioned the sentinels... I am sad, but maybe in the future, who knows.

I don't really mind the buildable figures. I think most of the designs are still preliminary (hulk) But I can't really see any other way of doing it though. Except maybe putting a cloth cape on Batman. Iron Man looks great though!

Probably so. The products are real Comic-Con giveaways. Hard to believe people are already selling them for exorbitant rates just a day after they were first released, though.

My real life questioning was more about people willing to pay that price for minifigs not their genuineness :sweet:
