I could not figure out whether Ocean King was supposed to be Poseidon (mythology) or King Triton (Little Mermaid). I think he was more meant to be the latter since there was a mermaid CMF?

I'm aware that the groom might be not as interesting as the Bride for a CMF, but I just tought it was funny the groom has yet to appear

He was a generic merman king. He is obviously based on mythology (whether Greek or not, other ancient people had similar myths), just as Disney's King Triton is presumably based on the mythological Triton, Poseidon's son. There were also mermaids in Greek and other mythology. Disney borrows a lot from many myths.

Yes, I imagine it is that a groom is just too boring by himself compared to modern characters and probably too long since the original bride to make much sense now. There were so many male suit parts and top hats, I sold all my brides with a groom, plus LOTR rings years ago. They were always a good seller.

II'ma bit surprised they haven't done another minifig set like 853340 for a bride and groom. I know they've done the brickheadz relatively recently. Maybe skin colour is more of an issue these days, if people want more realistic customizable skin tones for their wedding (as possible in the brickheadz) and that is not possible for minifig sets without swapping out heads, hands and of course skin printing on the bride which cannot be changed. Or maybe because they don't want to offend others outside of traditional male/female couples by having male and female in one set, again like brickheadz where you could buy brides and groom separately.

I agree with @hikouki that Ocean King is suppsoed to represent Poseidon, rather than an ordinary merman…

As for Spider queen, despite that she has fangs, she is not a vampire lady. Look at her dress and cape - all of them are web-themed. Spiders do have fangs too. So not reall ‘vamp-y’. Vampires are often associated with BATS and this one comes wit spider.

Lego would have to go over the top in printing or accessories to make a groom 'CMF quality'. I could already hear the complaints here. LOL

And for good reason  With only 12 figures per series, they better make sure they‘re all unique or at least come with a great accessory!

A groom could work if they included a really good accessory. I like the diamond ring idea the best (despite my issues with the diamond business. Maybe better a different gem). Other than that, I‘d rather they skip that one entirely in favour of more unique ideas. The S7 bride can just marry the S1 magician :laugh_hard:

Lego could do a really unique suit for the groom if they wanted. Like a metallic coloured suit? Something really flashy (and / or tacky). Or the groom could have a plaid suit with detailed printing on the arms and legs, which I don't think has been done before.

I've seen weddings where the groom wore an all-white tux to match the bride; that + a good accessory would justify the figure.

We just got that with D&D.

Isn't that basically the printing under the armor of S3's Samuri?

merman

I'd say Ocean King counts.

male centaur

I'd say that the existing centaur's body/torso is gender-neutral enough that all one would need to change is the head. Even the hair works.

male babysitter

The original babysitter stood out because babies were new/rare at the time. I think getting a new one would feel like a wasted slot, unless it had some unique torso on both the minifig and the baby.

Canonically, she is actually a vampire - she's just obsessed with spiders. From her biography that was from Lego:

Quote

“Vould you like to meet my friends? I do hope you’re not too ticklish!”

Some vampires are fond of bats or rats, but the Spider Lady just adores spiders. She uses them in all of her home decorations, and even weaves her own gowns out of purest spider silk (a very fine thread, but a little sticky). She keeps a large number of pet spiders around her castle, but her favorite is a large red specimen that she calls Baron von Skitters.

Given her love of all things arachnid, it may be a little surprising to learn that the Spider Lady has become rather sweet on the Fly Monster. There’s just something about him that compels her to ask him over for tea…and she doesn’t understand why he keeps running away whenever she invites him to step into her parlor for a bite!

I'm moreso in a boat that I would like to see some of the earlier archetypes revisited for the sake that a lot of them are over a decade old/could be improved with better printing/are very expensive on the aftermarket, not just so I can "thing from before, but girl" or whatnot. I'd love to get some Roman minifigs, for example, or see a second go at the football player, over a simple gender-swap.

Though I'll take any and all gender swaps before I take cars with heads stuck to them for a CMF Series...

Eh, i don’t know… but i still want to see yukakta guy to come with new printing and skirt piece…

As he and i talked about earlier, Ocean King is implied to be Poseidon, rather than normal merman. Nothing wrong wiht another mermaid or mermaid in CMF.

I mean, sure, centuar’s body is gender-netural but i meant new color and new parts for male centaur.

Sure, there wll be a barf printed on a male babysitter’s torso…. And a bib on a baby figure.

Eh, I’m sorry but I’m not convinced that Spider Queen is a vampire herself.  I just don’t understand why lego decided to go with spider theme for her and her name is ‘spider queen’ racer than ‘vampire lady’ i know Fly Monster tried to get away from her accroding to bio, implying that she wants to catch flies.

I mean, Basil The Bat Lord isn't really a bat either, so...

Well, he has a bat helmet, bat axe, and he has castle full of bats. Sure enough, he has fangs .So it makes sense to me

But it’s a different story for Spdier Queen so….

Look, this is just my view on Spider Queen as ‘spider Queen’ rather than ‘vampire lady’. Nothing about her scream ‘I’m vampire!!!’…. Sorry.

I always like the minifigs that represent countries.  When I travel I like to add one to my collection that can kind of represent that country (Statue of Liberty for USA, Mime for France, Leprechaun for Ireland, etc.) I still wish they'd do a little Dutch girl with the hat and maybe some little lego clogs :)

If they wont make a CMF groom, it would be funny to get a zombie/ghost version of the S7 Bride as a BAM minifigure for Halloween

Like, she died waiting for the groom who never came....

LEGO leaks on Reddit has a rumored list of series 27 CMF figures. It's from Exabricks, which isn't always reliable though. However, if true, the list looks very promising indeed! Stuff for castle, pirates, space, and steampunk!

Beastmaster is the one I'll look out for the most since it could finally mean we get a dedicated wolf mold, but most of the others sound promising. Still a bit strange they did a Pteranodon costume figure before a Raptor costume one since the former isn't even a dinosaur

Not that strange IMO. We just got a T-Rex first and the Pteranodon has a more unique look than the raptor has IMO. I could see them doing a Brachiosaurus next, and maybe then a raptor - if they keep doing Dino Costumes, that is.

Pterodactyl was my guess for the dino costume this series. The Ideas dinosaur skeletons set featured a T-rex, Triceratops, and Pterodactyl, and we’d already gotten the first two in costume form. If they continue I’d expect to see a Brachiosaurus since that’s what appeared in the Natural History Museum modular building.

I hope series 28 has another Greco-Roman figure. I missed out on quite a few of the earlier ones.

So far for Greco-Roman Roman CMFs we have:

Series 2's Spartan (I had hoped a similar figure in blue and silver might be made as an Athenian hoplite)

Series 5's Gladiator

Series 5's Cleopatra ( I wasn't sure whether to include her because, or ignore her or include all the Egyptian ones but she's more connected to the Greco-Roman world than the other Egyptian figs, I would also like more Egyptian figs but not as much as Greco-Roman ones)

Series 6's Roman Soilder

Series 6's Minotaur ( arguments could also be made for the Lady Liberty  from this series)

Series 7's Ocean King (Triton son of Poseidon)

Series 9's Cyclops

Series 9's Roman Emperor

Series 9's Mermaid (Arguably more of generic fig but works perfectly in this context)

Series 10's Medusa

Series 10's Roman Commander

Series 10's Warrior Woman ( again arguable but I saw her as an Amazon)

Series 11's barbarian (also arguable)

Series 12's Battle Goddess (Athena/Athene/Minerva)

Series 13's female Cyclops ( wish she wasn't plastered in makeup)

Series 15's Winged warrior ( looks like he's meant to represent a specific mythic figure but I'm not sure who, either way the parts work great for Greco-Roman stuff)

Series 15's Faun/Saytr

Series 17's Gladiator

(Honourable mentions for Disney Series 2's Hercules and Hades, and an mention for the DC Series's Jay Garrick Flash just for the hat.)

Series 21's Centuar

Series 25's Harpy

Series 26's Orion

A full greek myth or Roman history series would be epic.

Is it strange to anyone else that there has never been a teacher CMF? Teachers are some of the most familiar people to kids all across the world, through all different cultures. I’m shocked one wasn't in any of the earliest series, let alone that it STILL hasn’t been included.

I mean, a teacher could have been featured twice. One cutesy early childhood teacher, and another being a more serious looking professor. Maybe even more if you wanted to go with specific subjects (art, gym, etc.)

Agreed! I’ve often hankered for some Greek mythology sets and figures more broadly, but a set of 12 themed CMFs would be eminently doable, and have broad appeal.

I suspect that you want dog or cat dressed up in Greco-Roman armors.

Maybe becuase kids don’t like thier evillemenary teachers?

Seriously, i do agree with you that it’s strange to see a lack of teacher minifigure in CMF series. No dentist, no professor, no physician, etc.  Come on, lego….

I, too, would like more Roman mythology minifigs!!!

The reason why I don't consider the Ocean King as primarily Poseidon, is because there was actually a Poseidon minifig from the Atlantis series!
