LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I always thought it would be fun if they did a decade-centric series. They already have a bunch of molds from Dimensions they could use for a "Series 80(s)". Sloth, E.T., Marty & Doc, the 2 Gremlins, the four Ghostbusters, Mr. T, David Hasselhoff, Beetlejuice...

We'll never know why they chose to make a second series. But there a still a lot villains left so I bet they wanted to include them all

This whole Batman Movie began because they literally said that "everyone loves Batman" so I think they just went with that. That's why they are giving Batman Movie a second series of CMFs. Something that even LEGO Movie didn't have. 

About how Batman Series 1 is doing..... it's hard to tell. I think it's doing ok here where I live. Nothing out of normal.

My accounts could be anecdotal as economic factors could also play a role in this part of the world.

That's the problem with this series... many people only care about Batman and the mascots/animals. Half of the box of 60 does not sell.

 

Anyway, back to the old license series coming on September 2018, is Disney totally eliminated from the poll of choices already? I just want to triple confirm.

Probably a couple of days away. As soon as the list is released we can expect a reveal on the same/next day.

If not for Itaria's CMF contest, I'm not sure what else is keeping me around here. There's nothing on the horizon for me in the next year+.

My feeling too. One licensed set per year wasn't so bad, especially if the parts were reasonably generic (TLM was OK for this). But going to just one unlicensed per year is enough to make me lose interest. I already have. I sold off a lot of my older figures, keeping the army builders and ones I'm interested in using, getting rid of the "for display" ones only.

Why though? We already have Sloth, ET, Marty and Doc, Gremlins, the four Ghostbusters (twice and three times), Mr T, Knightrider, Beetlejuice. Why do them again in a CMF series? They probably aren't very interesting for kids - these are more nostalgia for adults. I don't see any market for them, outside of adults that haven't already got them.

I hope the September 2018 CMF Series will be Scooby-Doo since it counts as an existing theme. Besides, LEGO Scooby-Doo deserves more sets!

At least there are some useful parts in the Ninjago series figs. Much better than another Lloyd or Zane fig.

What would you want from it though? The gang have been done as have many of the "monsters". The CMF series will only provide characters and I imagine they have done everything recognizable already.

Monsters such as the Creeper, the Werewolf, Frankenstein, and maybe alternate variants of Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy from What's New Scooby-Doo and other TV installments.

The downsides of those is that we have had 3x Frankenstein monsters in the past five years or so, a couple of werewolves and of course Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy very recently. I expect most people that were into Lego and Scooby Doo would have already bought the sets last year. Such a series would already be quite niche, and having just been done as sets is likely to go down like Simpsons Series 2.

Instead of simply a Scooby Doo CMS, I proposed earlier on this thread a broader Hanna Barbera CMS that could also encompass the Flintstones, the Jetsons, and others to be done instead.

That's a totally great idea! Hopefully LEGO Scooby-Doo will be brought back as part of a LEGO Hanna-Barbera theme.

Scooby Doo isn't old enough as a theme, I suspect, although it is an old property.  I wonder if this is going to be an old theme we've seen before, or one we have not that is based on an old property.

I'm glad I'm not alone, it's something I have been waiting for a long time so far the closest we got Wes the S5 evil dwarf, S6 Minotaur, S15 faun, S16 ice queen and the Lord of the rings theme 

however I think they might wait till the silver chair movie comes out in December 2017 if the rumors are true. Actually forget the series let's get a whole theme

I think it will be Doctor Who since LEGO already rumoured it. And he will appear in TLM2 which is only couple of months later.

It was CM4Sci who first talked about a Doctor Who CMFs series. But that was almost a year ago

You never know.  It would be nice to see a British property for a change.  All of the other licensed CMF series have been American.

Or maybe that just means it's more likely we'll get another American series.

I've been thinking about this as a possibility recently, mostly on the back of some new moulds that have appeared in CMF figures. As we know, they often introduce moulds there that then are used in licensed series, so I was thinking about the new vet and fitness instructor hairpieces... In blonde and black respectively they'd be good matches for Rose Tyler and new companion Bill. Then we see a new scarf mould in the Ninjago CMF series. That's perfect for a Tom Baker doctor.  And then the umbrella introduced with the Lego Batman movie might be ideal for a Sylvester McCoy doctor ...

This actually really makes sense....  they've made 2 doctors already, so maybe they'd do the other 10 (they have designs from dimensions), and then maybe some of the most memorable/recent companions and/or other characters (don't watch dr who myself so can't tell you what they'd be!)
