Fort"Avalon"

Hi everyone!

I'm glad to present you my new creation - Fort"Avalon". :)

Enjoy it!

The fort itself:

At first I couldn't think of an appropriate name. I wanted to call it "a piece of shore 128 pins long, with a fortress of red coats and a small village nearby", but I changed my mind in time. :pir-grin: Experts have already noticed the connection with the set 6769. But it was named after the mystical island Avalon.

General views:

A sceleton hanged to frighten pirates. However they will hardly ever swim up to such a massive fortress :pir-wink:

5627686166_b38cdbff19_z.jpg

It looks like this this soldier isn't doing his duty on post. Well-well, we'll see.

5627089691_1801f51a3c_z.jpg

However, judging by this gentleman's stern look, one can be sure, that, he will get it hot!

And a very suspicious guy is walking along the wall.

It looks like he has got caught too.

5627127227_7969ed7e29_z.jpg

But it turnes out that the patrol man has spotted a guardsman who decided to have a snack during his post time. The soldiers seem to be quite relaxed in this fortress...

A small village:

What could have frightened this man so much?

5627732208_685a2f589d_z.jpg

OOOH! A peacful fishing was interrupted by the apearance of two giant sharks!

5627143863_88f6099aee_z.jpg

A young man is likely to bother this lady. He thinks she reciprocates his feelings, but in fact her emotions are caused by the impressions of what had happened to the poor fisherman. But noone knows why she is so glad! :pir-oh:

Why are these guardsmen staring upward?

The thief couldn't think of anything better than climbing the roof...

One can only envy his self-control:

What's going on here?

5627180325_516ec90b66_z.jpg

This gentleman managed to steal an important map. Judging by his grin, he's very pleased with himself.

5627768586_030281ca76_z.jpg

Oops... The officer looks very angry with him... :pir_mad:

5627187173_8600c60093_z.jpg

The ambassador from the blue coats has arrived.

5627775576_90a34d3060_z.jpg

But nobody is delighted with his visit...

5627194021_324b886195_z.jpg

The red coats' admiral is watching everything attentively. A serious conflict can arise soon.

That's what's going on here. It's definitevely not boring! :pir-wink:

This is brilliant! I just love the round battery tower and the derrick-tower at the pier. If this was a buyable set, I'd be tempted to buy the first set in 14 years.

First off this is really big and overall just impressive, I really don't like the use of spoiler tags though, it's actually kind of annoying. The image still loads to the users browser when hidden with spoiler tags, so you aren't saving anyone any load times. It's just one more step for us to see your pictures, which are awesome by the way. I won't change it as it's your choice, but I'd like to see them gone. Don't hide your awesome work.

I love that canon and the use of open space, it often add's just as much to a MOC as more buildings.

What a brilliant scene, I love it. Not sure about the crane in the fort personally as it makes me think it's still under construction................or maybe it is :pir-grin: I'm loving all the activity, the parrots copying the girl and the guard made me laugh.

Thanks for sharing this

This is fantastic, Corioso! I really like all the action in this, and the buildings are excellent. I like how all the minifigures' faces are appropriate to their situation. There's nothing I don't like about his scene. Well done, and thanks for sharing this with us!

This MOC is big enough for three seperate scenes, so i salute your for your great work. The round tower is constructed very good, I've never seen that kind of building technique with alternating round and normal bricks before.

All the small "stories" you hinted at in your original post and the clever use of different facial expressions really capture the feeling of a lively port/fortress scene.

This whole scene is on par with the official LEGO catalogue pictures released in the early 90s.

I just hope Admiral Broadside will visit this outpost soon and bring some much-needed discipline back to this place. Drunk soldiers losing their hats at the pier, meal breaks while on guard duty and secret romances? If Brickbeard shows up to raid this fort, the government troops will likely just surrender immediately. Outrageous! :pir_laugh2:

Edit: I especially like the Weather vane and the soldier peering through the monocular. His pose is very realistic.

Also, i think it's kind of funny that two guards would look for a thief who climbs on top of a building just because he stole one single fish

They'll probably hang him for that terrible crime! :pir-classic:

I personally think so.

Again, this is a very well thought out scene, if another blogger doesn't snag this soon, I'll blog it.

A nice MOC, with great attention to the details. I loved the way you used the Collectable Minifigures to add to the action. One of the highlights for me is the weathercock. Nice touch there. It's definitly worth a Blog-Entry!

This is everything I hope for in an Island/fort MOC! I love the detail of the fort itself the most. Excellent job on this one. The village/military co-existence really helps make it feel time appropriate too. Cool!

Really excellent detailed work, and I love all of the little 'events' going on inside of the MOC. Brilliant build.

That's a great scene  I like the round tower and the cranes. All the scenes going on are great too.

I think my favourite picture is the one with the cannonball and the dim background. Artistic!

Also good job on the landscape (water, sand foliage).

My only tip is, when you have many green or blue parts, you could make more elevation in the green and perhaps SNOT water.

But actually I don't have the right to complain as it's a very good MOC :pir-classic:

Really an impressive MOC, you have built there, Corioso. Of course, what steals the attention is the great fort, but I also like the village next to it. Really many - and funny - details. - Did you put any interior in the buildings? It could be interesting to see what is hiding behind the walls :pir-classic:

That is really nice! I love it when the build not only show one thing. And you create a wonderful coast line with all details a blue or redcoat need to life.

I´m fan of the rock, the round tower and the tower building in the village.

Now you need a fine ship next to the dock! :pir-blush:

About the water:

A SNOT-construction can be better and more realistic, but, I performed this work on a festival of Russian forum "DoubleBrick", and the plates were required for the base. :pirate_sad2:

I'll show you the photos of the festival as soon as I get them. :pir-sweet:
