Napoleon and his army

It took me about 6 months to collect this army. Since I first posted the pictures, I raised a new regiment of light infantery (10 soldiers) and an artillery battery (4 cannons + 8 soldiers + officer). I'm now working on a Mameluke guards for Napoleon (as suggeste on this forum) :-)

Currently I'm building a regiment of polish lancers and some hussars.

My new english army has just begun recruiting for the campaign on the Peninsulla and has only 3 officers, 5 rifles and 27 line infantry.

No match yet for the army of Napoleon but in a few months they will be ready for Waterloo.

Indeed, I'm planning to add a scottish regiment (Black Watch and/or Gordon Highlanders).

But I think the Black Watch sounds the coolest :-).

i love when people use the redbeard torso for uniforms.... they look great.

I can't wait to see your take on the battle that is for sure!

I wish i had enough blue coats and red coats to seperate them into french and english... righ now mine are all english. i envy your army greatly!

I've added some hussars to my army.

I decided to use existing torso's (since they look better than the ones I had made 8-| ).

Still need to buy some more to make a complete regiment.

This is my first attempt of making a "Black Watch" soldier (found the colors at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_watch ):

Once I'm sure that I'm satisfied with how it looks, I will make 10 of them.

Indeed, I've been investigation this.

It seem that during the Napoleonic wars, the hat war was a busby.

The hat and uniform from your image dates from the 1750's I guess.

All these uniforms changed so frequently, so I decided to use the period 1800-1815 as a reference.

nope.

Once I can buy the parts for my 10 black watch soldiers, I will start designing some english cavalry.

Recently I could buy quite some minifigs on ebay.

I finaly got my napoleonic officer corps.

Also i reached my target of 30 red imperial soldiers.

I did a good deal on ebay this Tuesday. Could buy 20 imperial soldiers for 37,5 euro (+5 euro shipment).

Also just bought another great set I always wanted (not really pirates, but Napoleon did a campaign in Egypt...)

I hope there are no "surprises" when I receive the Lego.

I'm a huge Napoleonic fan. (Have thousands of 1:72 miniatures).

They look really great. Are you planning an old guard too?

Well, I have a regiment of old guard grenadiers.

I'm raising new regiments all the time.

Lately I added lots of officers to my army (still waiting for some blue plumes I ordered on BL).

Will post some pictures soon.

Also I'm making more french hussars.

I'm actually keeping an arms race :-). Saw a picture on brickshelf of a guy that has more imperial soldiers than me. Can't let that happen ...

There is just 1 picture of this army I talked about.

Can't really call it an organised army, since it has no cavalry or officers.

But it has 202 line infantry (blue imperial soldiers) armed with muskets.

Another big army can be seen here.

Same story, about 215 imperial soldiers (and some artillery) but no officers, cavalery, imperial guard, ...

I'm planning to add polish lancers (raised in 1807 while the Red Lancers where raised in 1810).

I already made a prototype torso. But I still have to find some time to perfect it.

Once it's finished, I'll post it in the torso library.

Just bought 21 shako's on BL specialy for these guys.

And here is my first Polish Lancer ...

They where the 1st regiment of the "Lancers of the Guard".

They were to be given French instructors and training.

Napoleon proclaimed "Poles, You are worthy of my Old Guard I proclaim you my bravest cavalry!".

Promoted to the Old Guard, they were then given lances, remained at the Emperor's side until Waterloo, and were never defeated by enemy cavalry.

Bonaparte, I've been meaning to say, I absolutely love your designs. Especially your Bonaparte torso! Fantastic work, you give me so much inspiration.

Bonaparte you are making me very jealous for I am a napoleonic re-enactor and also a huge Lego fan. You are doing a good job. I must say some things the French drumband you got are nice but they are nicer for the English army. The french drumbands were either green or just the colours of the regular infantrymen.

The golden eagles and colours look nice but the French had combined standards, the golden eagles were on top of the flag poles.

Here I got some picture you could use for your Voltigeurs, Tirailleurs or Chasseurs. Please keep in mind that the epaulettes of Voltigeurs and Chasseurs were always green.

You made an army for Jena but the British wreent there. The opposing army of Napoleon consisted out of Sachsen and Prussians. Prussians in 1806 were uniformed in blue uniforms and the Sachsen in white with coloured 2nd colours.

I must tell you that 2 weeks ago I was part of a 3000 persons re-enactment of the battle at Jena. There are some nice pictures at www.nanweb.org teh english site does not contain the pictures but the Dutch one does. I hope you can read some Dutch words.

I myself made some lego figs of French Cuirassiers(4) and 95th rifles(only 1). I will make some pictures and post those later.

Hello Voltigeur, I'm very happy to have another Napoleonic fan on the forum.

I'm looking forward to see pictures of you cuirassiers and rifles.

I will update the pictures of my army in about a month from now since it has changed (grown) a lot.

The reason my french eagles are not on top of the flag is because that's how it was in Sharpe's Eagle. Can it be that this changed over the years (Sharpe's Eagle was during the campaign of the Peninsulla)? I know that in waterloo, the eagles were on the flags. Maybe I have to change this in my army.

I agree that the voltigeurs of the guard had green epaulettes but the voltigeurs of the line regiments had yellow epaulettes lined green and the volitigeurs of the light infantry had Yellow and green epaulettes (and since lego doesn't have any green epaulettes ...).

Probably most music bands in the army of Napoleon had the same uniform as the other soldiers but here is an example of a yellow band-uniform. I also saw this in a Sharpe movie, but I can't remember which one it was.

The pictures on www.nanweb.org are great.

I'm a frequent visitor of the battlefield of Waterloo.
