Hello , everybody.

I obtained the photograph of U400 that I had not seen.

This photograph is published in the catalog that the official lego store in Japan made.

U400 is scheduled to be sold for 19,990 yen in this shop.

I think that the fixed price becomes about 25,000 yen.

I cannot wait for the sale in August.

See you.

But the Unimog looks really good

@ WanWan (or another Japanese person); can you try to translate the text? :sweet:

Where is the official Lego shop in Japan? I'm going to Tokyo in July!

On this website, it says "Lego is quite popular in Japan. You can find it sold at the Toys are Us stores here, at some department stores such as Jusco, Tokyu Hands and at smaller toy stores here. The outlet malls in Japan often have a Lego shop ie) the Gotemba Outlet Mall in Gotemba, Shizuoka."

@ WanWan (or another Japanese person); can you try to translate the text? :sweet:

Sorry to be late translation. :cry_sad:

If my awful translation  becomes help of your understanding, it is glad.

The text in the upper part of photograph.

"It acts all over the world and the strongest 4WD work car."

"Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG U400 appears in the LEGO TECHNIC! "

The text over the photograph of real UNIMOG.

"The LEGO TECHNIC assembled by making good use of mechanism

reproduces the function faithfully like a real car.

The motor, the air pump, and various gimmicks installed in the body

make this Unimog more real.

How about challenging to assemble LEGO TECHNIC that can construct mechanism?"

The text in the right of the photograph of real UNIMOG.

"What is the UNIMOG?"

"Multipurpose work car that Daimler of automaker manufactures,

and sells by Mercedes Benz brand.

About 3000 kinds of work attachments can be installed, and in Japan,

it acts in various places such as snow removal or the road maintenance, etc. "

Text that explains the winch.

"The sound of wind seems like a real!"

"You can pull the small truck of the LEGO TECHNIC

by the winch that is equipped in front of the UNIMOG.

The winch draws a freight by using gears and the power of motors. "

The text in the right of the photograph of the emblem.

"That famous emblem is reproduced."

"Emblem that is proof of Mercedes.

Of course, the emblem decorates LEGO TECHNIC as well as the real UNIMOG,

and shines on the front hood and under the rear taillights."

Text that explains the grab.

"It can load the freight gripped by the grab onto a load-carrying platform."

"The grab is opened and shut by the power of the air pump and freight can be gripped.

Bending and stretching and the rotation of the arm are also possible. "

Text that explains switches.

"The operation place is switched with various switches. "

"Switches installed above electric motor.

It is a device that switches the operation of the arm and the winch

in addition to the direction where the gear is rotated. "

Text that explains electric motor.

"The heart of the Unimog is an electric motor. "

"An electric motor is installed under the body.

It can send air to the cylinder of the power arm and can rotate gears."

That's a great!

I can tell you some shops though I do not know Tokyo well.

The name of an official LEGO shop in Japan is "Clickbrick"

The shop that exists near the center of Tokyo is Yaesu branch and Odaiba venusfort branch.

The Yaesu branch is at Tokyo Station.

Odaiba venusfort branch is in the shopping mall.

The Odaiba venusfort branch is the largest shop in Tokyo.

I hope that you have a good trip.

Thanks for the translation wanwan pirate_thumbup.gif

We now know this thing has 4WD, but what are the chances of a gearbox of some sort?

There is a gearbox that switches between the winch and the compressor for the pneumatic functions. That won't be too complex, just a driving ring constructions... But you think it has a second gearbox?

How else will it have more than 2,000 parts? Even if you take off the pins and axles that is still a lot...

Do you think you have to turn the crane by hand just like the stabilizers?

That would be kinda lame...

I have read the entire post but some mysteries remain.

I am intrigued by this sentence in the Japanese translation: 'The motor, the air pump, and various gimmicks installed in the body'

Gimmicks is their way of saying functions. After all Gimmick means unique feature.

Thanks for your help. :sweet:

I wrote "various gimmicks" in the meaning of the mechanism such as the crane and the claw or the winch.

It is listed in a swedish store for 1424 SEK, I expected it to be more expensive but still a bit too much for me. At least for now...

I estimate the US pricing to be $200 - 250. That's way too expensive for me. But since it has PF, pneumatics, 2048 pieces, and is licensed by Mercedes Benz, it seems reasonable. It is way beyond my budget. But that wont stop me from getting one or two  .

I can't wait to get this. Let's hope there are a lot of new pieces in this. There hasn't been a lot of new pieces in Technic recently.

Whenever my mom hears the words "Mercedes", "orange", and "big", she thinks of "mechanical monster who takes at least $200 from each victim" .

I hope there won't be too much new pieces. I don't mind new pieces, but only if there is a good reason for them.
