Help with 8052 Container Truck & Linear Actuator

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a problem with the linear actuator in the set 8052 Container Truck.

(this, in case people don't know the name of the part: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=61927c01)

If anyone has the instructions, page 58 of book one, steps 3 and 4.

Otherwise, this is the direct Lego Support link (http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4597876.pdf).

Come here and search 8052 if you don't trust me (http://us.service.lego.com/en-US/BuildingInstructions/default.aspx).

My linear actuator has the metal arm part completely inside the plastic body part (skinner part completely inside fat part, for lack of a simpler description).

But, the instructions show that a portion of the metal skinny part actually comes out for the end to reach the second holes of the gray liftarms it attaches to (11 holed ones), it only reaches about the first holes.

It doesn't come out even after some tough pulling, as many of you may know (or I'm doing something wrong).

Is there an easy way for me to the the arm out without damaging the part?

I'm new to Technic, so please excuse me if it's a simply solved question.

Thanks in advance.

BTW: I can do some crude circling/highlighting via Paint if my description doesn't come across clearly enough.

hi

Its a turning device put an axel in the but of the L.A hold the top pin line with the body and turn the axel than it wil come out by turning the axel.

The actuator is about 8 studs long and can extend about 5 studs distance. The linear actuator works by an internal screw mechanism powered by an axle socket at the end of the actuator. Within the actuator there's an internal clutch to prevent it being damaged. To extend the actuator the axle socket needs to be turned about 25 complete turns.

Oh I see how it works now

Thank you very much

+1 karma for you!

Today one of my sons also finished building 8052 and I saw the instructions with the LA. You see the LA and one hand on one side of the LA and another hand on the other side and an arrow showing to extend the LA. There's no sign to put an axle in the LA and turn the axle! So I can understand the question if it's the first time you have a LA in your hand.

My son already knew how to handle the LA, so it was no problem for him.
