Muppet is a term coined by Jim Henson to describe his marionette puppets (marionette + puppet = muppet). The term generally applies to all of the marionette puppets that Henson and co. created. The term is more often associated with characters from the Muppet Show. Fraggles and Seasame Street characters are still muppets though. ...and Elmo was in Seasame Street. They are both official Muppet projects, so yes, Sesame Street characters are Muppets. Sesame Street is the children's show and The Muppet Show was an adult variety show. It originally aired on Saturday evenings. We used to go to my aunt's house and watch it every Saturday. We would eat pretzel logs and drink pop, and I would play with DUPLO and watch the Muppets.
