MOC: The Shrieking Shack

The Shrieking Shack is an abandoned house in Hogsmeade and it is rumoured to be the most haunting building in Britain. It's a favourite stop on any Hogsmeade visit. . People believed the building was haunted because of the wails once heard, but in fact is was Remus Lupin transforming into a werewolf. The Shrieking Shack was built so Remus could transform a safe distance away from the Hogwarts students. It was in this building Harry Potter learned the true identity of Sirius Black. Voldemort used this as a hide-out in the Battle of Hogwarts.

I liked the original set (check out Cutlass Iz's excellent review of the 4738), but I had to make my own interpretation so it fits in my Hogsmeade village. As described in the book, it stands on a hill surrounded by a fence. I didn't want to make it too big because it's a shack, not a mansion.

I like it. Much more ominous looking than the official set, mostly due to the lack of snow and the addition of the pointy fence. Too bad you never include interior in your MOCs; it would have been interesting to see all the destroyed furniture and stuff. Oh well.

I find making interior is a waste of bricks.

I've stripped out my Grocers, Hotel, Grand Emporium and Firestation so save bricks.

I have to say: I always have a feeling of "an interior would fit great with this" after building one of the Hogsmeade buildings. But I did my best to put one in the station, but I'll get it out again as it's for display. Nobody will see the interiors, but for pictures it would've been nice though.

The minifigures don't represent people mentioned in the book. Just a wizarding family visiting Hogsmeade, and they decided to take a look at the Shrieking Shack at nightfall. The little boy is excited, but the parents are afraid of what they've been told when they were little.

This is absolutely amazing! Definitely a hundred times better than the TLG set. I love how you used different-tones of brown for the walls, it really captures the desired old-squeaky wooden wall finish of the house. The distorted fences are very effectively done, adds another level of spookiness on the whole build. Superb job once again Matn, you've certainly become the unofficial HP MOC expert of EB. Keep doing this very impressive creations!

This is such a great line! The Shrieking Shack is a beautiful addition. You've managed to capture the vibe of the place quite nicely. I love the fence! The terrain is an awesome addition as well. It just adds even more detail! Too bad about no interior, but completely understandable. 10000000000/10.

I really like the chimney design as well as the wooden log look on the outside of the shack.

Very nice! Simple and Sweet in true lego style! I like the idea of creating a new version of the Shrieking Shack, rather than a copy of the film version. And bonus points for being absolutely nothing like the LEGO version!
