Holodoc Posted June 30, 2010 Hello folks and welcome to a small MOC I made for the 40th birthday of my brother-in-law. (This was also the first time I have given away a MOC ) He's the owner of a fuel station in my home town and he also drives one of the tanker trucks to deliver oil to private houses. I started breaking up set 3180 (tank truck) to see what I could use for inspiration. Within a short time I realized that there weren't too many bricks useable for it, except for the front and the base. Then I started building the new truck with blue bricks where I didn't have the right parts at hand, followed by 3 BL orders. Some details here and there and I was finished with the build. The red tile was by far the most difficult part to add to the sides. I didn't want to stay where I placed it. First I tried flexible hoses and clips (see photo above), but that didn't work. I ended up in using... can you see it? But what is a truck without advertising? So I made some nice decals and I have to say I'm very pleased with the final model! Now what does the real thing look like? The complete BS-folder. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Selander Posted June 30, 2010 Nice details and sticker job, Holodoc. I would make the truck front more "square" and skip the cheese pieces. But that's just a matter of personla taste. It's still a great build !
Hey75 Posted June 30, 2010 That was cool, nice detail and stickers it just look like the real truck.

prateek Posted June 30, 2010 Great truck! I like the overall shape, and the stickers are great. BTW, did you use sticky tack?
Morgan Posted June 30, 2010 That's truely an awesome gift. =) He'll love it. You should make a little minifig that looks just like him to put in the driver's seat. =) I love the detailing.
Fires-storm Posted June 30, 2010 My, what an amazing gift! You are truly a fantastic brother, as well as truly excellent at building with the brick we all love. Well done mate, and excellent design on the stickers as well
Holodoc Posted June 30, 2010 Great truck! I like the overall shape, and the stickers are great. BTW, did you use sticky tack? Whatever that may be... no, I didn't use it. I used a transparent self adhesive decal sheet I bought years ago (for those living in Germany: From pearl.de) - and never had use for it. Until now!
-zenn Posted June 30, 2010 Nice, looks like the real deal! GJ

Okay, but to my defense, I had no idea that existed

Holodoc Posted July 3, 2010 Thank you all guys for your very kind comments. I always try to make my MOCs look as realistic as can be. These decals are the cherry on the cake and I will use them more often from now on. I'm currently working on a electric locomotive. Well - I'll keep you updated.
