WIP

Recommended Posts

I spent all of today working on this one diorama and I'm not quite sure I like. Now I'm trying to see if there is anything on it that I can salvage. I thought I may as well show all of it since I do somewhat like it. I also really want to get any thoughts on it. Here's a WIP shots when I was about halfway through.

I like the techniques I used and the minifigure action. What really makes me dislike it is the thin 'incomplete' look it has all about it. I think it does look better in person, but even then not that great. Here's an additional photo I took later tonight.

Anyway all thoughts are welcome. I'm trying to somehow salvage this and maybe make a pirate dio I like a little more. Any help welcome. :pir-sceptic:

Thanks in advance.

Ditto Ditto, yeah that second photo isn't comming up.

Anyway that building would make a great prison - I say go prison - you gotta have somewhere to stick those pirates. :pir-devil:

Great design again 'NewRight' and I'm a conformist! ! :pir-sweet:

Looks great from what I can see.

I don't really like the black door however, I think a brown one would look better, and then make the tile on it black.

Perhaps you might want the rocks that lay against the building a bit higher and add a bit more vegetation to spice things up....

Just my 2 cents, good luck!

I think the grey stones between the white and tan ones make it look a bit..not very good :pir-classic:

That's the only thing and maybe some vegetation like Greenhair said.

For the rest it looks quite promising, keep it up!

That's amazing Newright :pir-cry_happy:

I'm a big fan of your MOCs

The only problem is that the second picture isn't showing up

for me :pir_wacko:

Thanks for that kind response. I uploaded the second picture to BrickShelf using a deeplink this time so there shouldn't be any problems. Flickr was probably having trouble since the photo is set to friends only. (Flickr friends that is) Everything should work now. :pir_laugh2:

Funny you mention that. The original intention was to have a gate breaking open (like shown in the just uploaded second picture) and all of the pirates pillaging and running wild on the old fort.

Looks great from what I can see.

I agree. If I can find my light bley slopes (can't find them used in any of my currently built creations, but kind find them where I supposedly sorted them :pir-tongue: ) then I'm really hoping to do some rock work similar to what I used in Yo ho, Yo ho. Probably less steep though. When I build the rock face I'm hoping to use some of those bamboo chute type pieces integrated into the cliff. I'm a little to lazy to actually look up what they're called, but I used them in the Yo ho, Yo ho diorama.

I'll see what I can do. I liked the cluttered look a little. Originally there wasn't suppose to be as much tan. I was using it as a transition from the white to the crumbling stone. I'll add the vegetation for sure.

A good start NewRight, I would also suggest changing the door to brown. But everything else looks good to me, keep it up. :pir-classic:

Well almost every MOC i see on this website has the 'incomplete look' anyway I think it really is very detailed white shallow water on the beach, pirates keeping their muskets out of the water, and the big sonic boom canon.

#edit# why is it that every time I quote no bubble comes up?

You have to press thisthe-quote-button.png, then "

" will show up (with a backslash in the second bracket). Then just paste whatever you want quoted in there, if it's not working I would suggest you pm an admin. :pir-classic:

Hm, why the swipe at EB MOCs, if I may ask? As to the quotes - by the looks of it, you probably keep deleting the {/quote} code at the end of the quote.

@NewRight: What did you intend this one to be? The wall of a castle? A town gate? The way it is now, its position seems rather weird to me - if it were a castle, then this little beach would most probably be inexistent, serving as foundation for the wall, not standing in front of it - and if it were a town wall, it would most probably be located at a greater distance from the beach itself. I think you should decide for yourself what kind of element that wall is and build on from there. Keep the rock arch if you can though - looks great to me!
