What was the last movie you watched?

Recommended Posts

Three days ago I watched Iron Man 2.Its an amazing movie,I am not going to reveal much about the movie, just going to say that Tony Stark is ill.

One really funny thing in the movie is in the scenes in Moscow when you see a Yugo parked in front of the villains house.

Iron Man 2 is really interesting and you should watch it.

Well, I was able to catch Iron Man 2 last night. I was really excited for this movie, so I'm not pleased that I feel compelled to give it a meh. Now, I don't believe in having a concrete opinion on movies from just one viewing, so I almost always see a film a second time before forming any permanent feelings about it (unless it's straight up god-awful, which can happen). Nevertheless, here are some first impressions I had about this much anticipated movie.

SPOILER WARNING TO ANYONE WHO HAS NOT SEEN IRON MAN 2 YET!

First and foremost, I'd like to say it was entertaining. Regardless of any problems I had with it, it was still at least fun to watch. Now, onto the

issues I had. Probably my biggest concern was the overall flow of the movie. It just didn't move along well. I'm really not sure how to word this properly, but the story just didn't seem fluid to me. Maybe others will notice this, maybe not.

The next issue I had was with the love story between Tony and Pepper. Now, I'm not saying one way or the other if a love story should have been in the movie. I think it could have been told without one just as easily as it could have been told with one. That being said, the love story in Iron Man 2 feels incredibly short and just forced for the heck of it. Obviously, we always get the hint of Tony's feelings for Pepper, but then it kind of comes up out of nowhere. After realizing what a tool he's been in general, he buys some strawberries and tries to tell her that he loves her. And then there's a kiss at the end of the movie. That's really about it. :sceptic: This element was just poorly done, I have to say. Either make it good, or don't bother with it at all. And they didn't even include the part from the trailer with Pepper kissing and then tossing Tony's helmet to him as he jumps from the plane saying "You complete me"! What's up with that?! What can I say, I really liked that part.

Now, my other problem with the movie; the characters/actors. The mainstays from the first were generally still good. And I liked Don Cheadle as Rhodey more than Terrence Howard. The villains though...eh. Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko was...okay, I suppose. His character didn't inspire much to hate though, and it got pretty irritating how he just kept mumbling "You lose" and other barely intelligible lines in pretty bad Russo/English. I have to say, I think Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane made a slightly better villain. His ruthless, corporate persona just seemed more creepy. Vanko never creeped me out.

Now, maybe they intended him to be like this, but I absolutely could not stand Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer. His character never ran out of ways to annoy me. :hmpf_bad: Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff was alright. I think we all know why she was added; to look hot, and then look even hotter kicking bad guy patootie in a tight suit. Fair enough, mission accomplished. Samuel L. as Nick Fury just doesn't do it for me. My issue there, is that no matter what movie he's in, his personality always comes across the same. No matter what, I always see and hear Jules. Eh, oh well...

Now, what does that leave? This movie does a lot well. The action is still flat out sweet, and seeing War Machine in action made me smile nonstop. Also, seeing Tony and Rhodes duke it out to Daft Punk's Robot Rock was INCREDIBLE. Robert Downey Jr. still does great with the funny, arrogant wit of Tony Stark. Also, if you don't get goosebumps watching Iron Man diving through the fireworks in the beginning, there's something wrong with you. Seriously.

END SPOILERS!

Anyway, I certainly don't regret buying my ticket, it was fun. I'm already planning on when to see it again, hopefully formulate some more solid opinion on the movie. I do recommend seeing this, though I don't think I'll have to convince many here, considering how anticipated this flick is.

Oh, and make sure you wait until the end of the credits, there is something at the very end!

I've oddly seen a lot of horror films and I don't usually watch so many in such a short time.

Event Horizon

A very scary and freaky film about a lost expiramental starship. Not much I'm going to say about it without revealing too much of the storie's plot so I won't. It's deffinantly worth a watch if you like films like Alien, Pandorium, horror films.

Pandorium

Very similar in some ways to both Event Horizon and the video game Dead Space. Very freaky, somewhat disturbing and a really good twist ending. It's about a sleeper/colony ship on route to an alien world for it to colonize. However when the protagonist wakes up he has no memory of himself and where he is and also the crew is missing. Deffinantly a watcher for those of you who like horror films especially ones in space.

The Collector

I was'nt expecting much from this film as the trailer had made it seem like your standard slasher film. However after watching it I must say that I was disapointed in that regard. It was a very strange plotline with some strange aspects to it. Basiclly this poor ex-con who is trying to provide his ex and daughter money is forced to rob a house, at the 'request' of an aqquaintince of his from prison. The house is empty but belongs to a jewler and inside the house is a couple diamonds so obviously it's a target for most scum. However a serial killer is also in the house and he's basicly killing everyone he runs into also trapping our protagonist in the house. It's worth watching and is slightly different from some of these other mainstream horror flicks.

Like others I watch Iron Man 2 this week end. I will repeat what I herd not enough of the suit and too much talking. That is my opinion of the movie. And I wonder the part where Pepper throws out the helmet from the back of the plane was/is an alternative seine.

The Ninth Gate from 1999 with old school Johnny Depp,

Is that the movie where Depp bangs a demon at the end of the movie?

The lord of the rings: The fellowship of the ring.

Decent, If I were to take sides in the Clerks 2 argument I would definitley stay on the star wars side. The movie was good but lacked a lot.

All quiet on the Western front -- 1930's version

Excellent movie, it really shows how futile WWI was. When compared to the "newer" version, the action and acting is a bit slower, but the overall message of the movie is better represented. The best part shows how the old men at home are still planning great offenses while the soldiers in the trenches barely have any decent food or ammo left...

Just watched The Taking Of Pelham 123 on DVD, great movie

I saw that a few months ago, and I agree it was pretty good. Some parts were a little unbelievable,

such as when the entire police escort caravan got taken out by civilians

, but it had a good plot, and a touching ending.

I also saw Kickass, and all I can say is that it was definitely hilarious. HitGirl was the star of the show, and I could not stop laughing at some of her lines.

"Hey, so what do you want for your birthday, sweetie?"

"I want a puppy"

"...What? A puppy?!"

"Yeah and one of those Bratz superstar dolls"

"..."

"Hah, I'm just megablocking with you, Daddy. I'd love a bench-made model 42 butterfly knife".

Finally, I saw Clash of the Titans in 3D, and it was pretty amazing. Once I got over the dizziness the glasses brought, the special effects were mind-blowing. The story was pretty epic as well, considering getting this on DVD.

I watched "Because of Winn-Dixie" the other day it was about what you would expect from that kind of movie. The basic plot of the movie is about a lonely girl (who just moved to town) making friends with a variety of town folks, and patching up her relationship with her preacher farther (the mom left them long ago).

One problem I had. And, I would imagine I would be the only one with this problem is the star, "Annasophia Robb" is grown up now (a teenager). That is not the problem just nature, my issue is I seen "Race to Witch Mountain" and she was in that too. My mind keeped thinking what she looked in that movie compared to this one, and I feeled a little wired about that. And that sort of stuff takes you out of the movie (even just a little bit) and that kind of thing is not good when you are watching a movie.

The last two I watched were:

Iron Man 2: I still can't decide if I liked it. It was amazing, stupid, awesome and boring all at the same time. How does that work?

Die Hard: Haha I love this movie. Alan Rickman is amazing.

I ended up watching some more movies today/yesterday. (I am not sure what time frame you would call it but it was kind of spread out in day or so when I seen the movies, and now to the list.)

On the Hallmark Channel (I am not sure it was the regular one or the movie version) they show the old "The Shaggy Dog" the one with Fred Murry (and it was in black and white). Then they showed the sequel to "The Shaggy Dog" "The Shaggy D.A.".

Then on DVD I watch "The Water Horse' and then "The Seeker:The Darkness is Rising" both of these movies where kind of predictable. For example (and I am thinking some spoilers are going to be given away): "The Water Horse" I figured out the old man was telling a story from his youth before the movie evens hints at it. For "The Seeker" one of the hidden objects is the "hero's soul" and you could see it a mile away way before the final fight with "Darkness". (The hero being some sort of warrior of light).

I watched The Road tonight. I read the book a year ago, and of course the vibe is different, it's a solid movie. As a parent, it was devastating to watch, as much of it is about a father's love for his child, and his attempt to give hope amid devastation.

It's an unusual story; a post-apocalyptic tale about familial love, while surrounded by death and cannibalism. The movie made me cry, but the book hit me harder.

I recommend it, but I recommend the book more.

I ended up watching League Of Extraordinary Gentleman it kind of comes off as someones fan fiction with all of the famous fictional characters in the movie. Unfortunately I have not hear of some of them.

And then later I watch Transformers:The Movie for the first time. It kind of what you expect for a summer block buster. Now I kind of want to see Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen and G.I. Joe:The Movie I expect to be about the same in quality as the first one (Transformers).

 oh TROF will suprise you greatly

The Road: extremely extremely appcolyptic and the ending is pretty crushing. It gives you hope but if you really think about it not much.

Prince Of Persia: Very suprising movie for me, since I went in with extremely low expectations. It was a very fun movie, with some great peformances mainly by Sheik Amar (Alfred Molina) and Nizam (Ben Kingsley) who for me both stole the movie. If you want to go see a fun, action film and see a pretty cool film then this one's for you.

I ended up watching a 90's near-apocolypse movie called 'Virus'.

It's about a computer virus from space that boards a boat, takes over the machinery, makes little insect robots with nail guns, kills the crew, and then uses the crew's deteriorating flesh to create more, bigger robot\cyborg things. A smaller boat comes along to tug the infected boat to shore for the reward (something about maritime law; they were getting 10% of the boat's value; the infected boat's value was 300 million dollars. You do the math). The crew of the smaller boat board the infected boat, and are basically killed off one by one. Two survive in the end, blowing the heck out if the boat as they leave. 8\10. Pretty good movie. Also, (afterthought), it was pretty gory, for those who are sensitive to that.

Jeepers Creepers 2 This is the second time I saw it and it's still scary as ever. It's very good (I loooove the Jeepers Creepers series) and it's just as good as the first one. It keeps many similar themes from the original one but adds a lot more to the story. If you liked the first one and have'nt seen this one, this is a must see. For those who saw the first and not the second here's my teaser for it.

It's set 4 days after the first movie.

A group of college students are taking a bus trip back home after playing a football game in another town. However a dagger thrown at buse's wheels stops them dead inn the middle of nowhere, and there's something stalking them.

What channel was that because I think I remember seeing commercials for that? was it right before that other virus movie set in that small town with the monkey?

I really wanted to see it. well it's good to here it was good?
