I saw Frankenweenie...it was actually a lot better than I expected! The animation was done really well.

The Rock (1996) - a personal favorite that I had just seen again. Probably the best Michael Bay movie IMO (and the highest-rated Michael Bay film in Rotten Tomatoes). Nick Cage's and Sean Connery's performance were enjoyable to watch, but what I really liked the most about the movie is how they portrayed Ed Harris as a "villain-fighting-for-a-good-cause" - a refreshing break from the stereotypical "pure-evil" antagonist mold. The sound work in the movie is also superb and really provides another level of excitement in the overall viewing experience.

Was supposed to watch Argo last night, but ended up watching Pitch Perfect instead. Pretty decent movie.

Recently seen Pitch Perfect, Argo and Alex Cross. Pitch was a great movie with a decent soundtrack. Argo was awesome! As was Alex Cross, Perry did well and Matthew Fox was a bad megablocks baddie.

As this is the last week of the quarter, we've been doing nothing in class.

In my Spanish class, I watched the Puerto Rico film (with English subtitles), Casi Casi. It was surprisingly good! Here's my thoughts:

Despite its low budget, this was actually a really well made teen film! It was really funny, and I loved the characters! Definitely check out the English subbed version.

8.75/10

Then, in my Human Geography class, we watched In America. Wow, what a beautiful film.

Wow, what a great film. Emotion, scenery, symbolism, and even humor is packed into this film.

Despite very very minor flaws, this is a phenomenal film.

9.5/10

Can't wait until Wreck-It Ralph next week! :classic:

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Though it was the older 90's animation and concept, it blew me away. I definitely recommend it, as it's such a great story.

Saw Frankenweenie. It was cool, typical Burton fashion. The characters are all sculpted weird and great, good movie for sure.

Halloween H20. I'm generally not a fan of these cheap gore horror films, but this one wasn't too bad. The plot was average, but I'd probably be more interested if I had seen the many other films in this series, which I haven't much of an intention of doing. The film managed to achieve quite a bit of suspense throughout with all the little hints here and there, and was genuining frightening in places. I also had to cheer a little at the end when Jamie Lee Curtis took a fireaxe to Michael Myers' ugly face and finished the franchise once and for all.

I saw Cloud Atlas on opening day. What a great movie! :classic: It's one of those Memento/Inception type movies that you have to see several times to completely understand. Great concept, great effects, great acting. It was very entertaining too since it had lots of action, humor, and romance. Therefore it was hardly noticeable that it was nearly 3 hrs long. I can really recommend it!

I'm pretty sure there are more Halloweens after that, aren't there? I saw that one when it came out back in 1998-ish, so I couldn't be so sure, but I thought they "finished" it, but then Hollywood decided not to end it after all.

As for me, my wife and I watched Mirror, Mirror last night. It was an interesting take on Snow White. I guess it was a Seik story incorporated with a Snow White story. It had a lot of more Middle Eastern elements in it compared to what I would assume European royalty of the original fairy tales. There was a rather interesting Bollywood-esque scene at the credits which prompted us to do some research to find out why and that led to the Seik storytelling. But overall, it was a decent movie and a fresh take on it all. I'd give it a 3.5-4/5.

Saw Cloud Atlas. Great, but weird movie. The characters/stories were funny, action packed, suspense and drama all over the place. The make up artists in this movie had a field day, especially on Hanks.

Saw Wreck-It Ralph a few hours ago. Being a retro game enthusiast myself, I loved the movie! Though it wasn't soley based on cameos, the jokes and animation were great, and it even had a bit of heart to it!

Saw Flight yesterday. Great movie. If you're not a fan of flying, I would close my eyes towards the beginning. Some parts were a bit much, however.

Saw a few recently,

Man With the Iron Fist-awesome Kung Fu movie, classic Tarrantino. Bautistas character was great. Story was pretty cool.

Wreck-It-Ralph-pretty funny flick. Kind of disappointed at the lack of classic VG characters(I mean, not even Mario...). It had M. Bison though, so that's good.

I saw my first full 007 movie today, Skyfall...

Very enjoyable and action packed! The acting was great, too! It was a bit slow at parts, though.

9/10

Now excuse me as I'm gonna play 007 Goldeneye on my Nintendo 64 with my brother.

Watched Skyfall at the weekend - don't believe the hype! The first part is really good but the third act is a total action movie cliché - admittedly new territory for Bond but a cliché nevertheless.
