Holodoc Posted December 12, 2009 Every year I ask myself what the sets were, I was able to get that year. This brought me to the idea to sum up all the sets and to post them here. For ease it's just the sets, no BL-orders or individual stones/parts. I'm not much into learning set numbers by heart so I decided to just show the set thumbnails from Brickset. A "u" is placed next to the thumbnail if I got the set used. Here's the list what I got/bought in 2009 (no, there won't be any sets this christmas - otherwise I'm going to update ): u u u u u u u u u u u u u u u u u u u So what did you buy this year? Let the review of 2009 begin! And if you don't know how to do it: Just type "[image]http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/thumbs/tn_XXXX-1_jpg.jpg[/image]" replace the "image" between the squared brackets with "img" and replace the 4 red X with your set number. Or just copy and paste from this first post.
Ricecracker Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) Firstly, many of the larger sets here I got at great discounts, including about 10 for 50% off. A few were also prizes or gifts. x3x2 x2x2 x2x2x4x4x4 x2x2 x2x2 x8 Plus 8083, 8073, 8072, and all the Muji sets. That's all..... for now . Millacol88 Posted December 12, 2009 Note that some of these are from 2008, even one from 2007, but they were all bought this year. Also note that I did buy some 2009 sets when they were available in stores in late 2008. But of course I didn't include those. (second copy) (second copy) (x2) That's it so far. I got a job this year, so I bought more Lego than any year before now!
Holodoc Posted December 12, 2009 Looking good so far! Excellent idea to post the quantities as well! I realized that I forgot the sets my son got (mostly from me). Do these count? Ok here's mine: That's it Poor you! Nice to see that you are still engaged in Lego by posting here. Note that some of these are from 2008, even one from 2007, but they were all bought this year. Also note that I did buy some 2009 sets when they were available in stores in late 2008. But of course I didn't include those. That was my intention. Post everything you bought this year. Regardless of the release date. If you look closely at my first post you'll find some 80's sets.
Ricecracker Posted December 12, 2009 I realized that I forgot the sets my son got (mostly from me). Do these count? Why not make a separate post with his? That was my intention. Post everything you bought this year. Regardless of the release date.If you look closely at my first post you'll find some 80's sets. Really? I thought those Space Police I sets were from 2009... Gotta update my post now
Zorbas Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) *The sound when taking a deep breath* ------------------------------------------- Thank god that the topic wasn't about the last 365 days...That would have included the large christmas sets and the just-got-out-from-dark-ages-and-started-bying-sets-like-a-maniac purchases. EDIT: List updated. Edited December 31, 2009 by Zorbas
ILikePi Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) Dang, this took quite a while to do. I had to copy my post and paste it into a saved/unsent PM! Probably 95% of my collection was from 2009 purchases, since this year was when I started buying lots more. In 2008 I only bought 3 or so sets. Let's see: x2 Free things: I also have one large PAB cup, all six of those General Mills promotional LEGO Racers 3 piece sets, and possibly a few other things that I bought this year that I can't remember. And the deals I got: $1 USD for each copy of 5611 Public Works (originally $3.50) $40 USD for 7627 Temple of the Crystal Skull (originally $80) $30 USD for 10186 General Grievous (originally $90) $90 USD for 8038 The Battle of Endor (originally $100) $54 USD for 10199 Winter Toy Shop (originally $60) $12-$13 USD for LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary (originally $22) $20-$22 USD for The LEGO Book (originally $40) I'm also planning to get an Ambush in Cairo and an Echo Base sooner this year, along with some early 2010 sets if they're out in non-TRU stores. EDIT: Removed 6205 V-wing Fighter. That was a 2006/2007 purchase! Edited December 13, 2009 by ILikePi
ZO6 Posted December 12, 2009 x2 x2 Not a bad haul for the year so far. Some stats: -41 different sets, 43 counting duplicates. -Between all the sets, 19793 pieces -$2470.75 CAD spent ($2792 including tax) -I bought 1 set at 40% off, 2 sets at 25% off, 4 at 20% off I'm still hoping to pick up the 4WD & Horse Trailer before the year is over. I also plan on buying myself a very large set (at least Taj Mahal price... don't know if I'll venture into the Death Star or UCS MF range), though I don't know if I'll get around to it by the 31st or not so it may be a 2010 purchase. Hope everyone else got at least some of the sets they wanted this year Next year looks to be potentially expensive again
Fishy Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) x2 x2x5x2 I only just realized how much I bought this year. Edited to sort it by theme. Edited December 14, 2009 by Fishy
prateek Posted December 12, 2009 I realized that I forgot the sets my son got (mostly from me). Do these count? Poor you! Nice to see that you are still engaged in Lego by posting here. I think they should count, but you would be the judge of that, since you're the one who started this topic It seems as of late, a lot of people have been showing pity/sympathy for me. I don't know why...

Dunjohn Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) Fascinating to see where everybody's priorities lie, by the lines they concentrate on. Here's me. I'll separate them by line, too: x4 x10 x6 x8 (2nd one) Hmm, that's actually a lot. I'll be cutting back this year. If it weren't for the free Daily Mirror promos and the little City sets I bought while on holiday in summer, it'd be obvious which themes I like most. The ancient UFO set, I bought in Krakow during the summer 'cuz it looked awesome. The Space Police set was got in Rome last month. Space Police doesn't seem to be for sale in Ireland, which is ok, since I wasn't too impressed by this set. There was also a Star Wars line of promos for the Mirror earlier in the year, but if I have to copy and paste one more link, I'll scream. MaxGoof Posted December 13, 2009 It wasn't a huge year for me--at all--but I did manage to get some cool sets... Sets I Bought: Sets I Expect to Receive for Christmas: Not bad, for a modest collector like myself...
Holodoc Posted December 13, 2009 Thank you for your replies so far! It's indeed very interesting to see what the members are fond of. Nice idea of posting the purchases theme-wise. But please refrain from posting the thumbnails one below the other. It makes it very uncomfortable to look at. For the ease of reading, please continue in posting them next to each other. Thank you very much! Maybe macoco, legoman and MaxGoof can fix their postings?
The Rancor Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) Maybe macoco, legoman and MaxGoof can fix their postings? I also like it when everyone's favourite themes are grouped together. I see a lot of Star Wars fans! Oh, and Stevex, when I said 'More?' and quoted the ultimate MF collector's set on its own, the other sets still showed up for me. I was purely saying 'What? You're going to buy more after spending a bomb on the Falcon?' Edited December 13, 2009 by The Rancor
