Selander Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) Acc to Wikipedia: The Sr1 is a class of electric locomotives built for VR (Finnish railways). These 25kV locomotives were built in the Soviet Union at the Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Factory between 1973 and 1985. Electrical equipment for the locomotives was supplied by the Finnish company Oy Strömberg Ab ( later part of ABB). I built a replica in 6-wide (as usual) for the past weekends AFOL meeting in Sweden. I haven't seen any Finnish locomotives before on eurobricks, so it's about time And here's the original: Visit My Website Edited December 18, 2009 by Selander
Zorro Posted November 11, 2009 A very realistical MOC, great work! Thanks for the background details too .
Milan Posted November 12, 2009 Excellent! Very detailed MOC! One thing that bothers me is the length, is it the angle of the photographing, or it really needs few more studs in length?
harrysnapperorgans Posted November 12, 2009 Very nice! Great colors and detail.
Selander Posted November 12, 2009 One thing that bothers me is the length, is it the angle of the photographing, or it really needs few more studs in length? It's 30studs long. I use a relative scale and compared to my other MOC locomotives it has a correct lenght. But you are right in that sense that basically all Lego trains are too short compared to trains IRL, especially wagons.
harrysnapperorgans Posted November 12, 2009 I know I commented already, but I'm back. This is just great. I love how you have captured the detail and still kept it simple. MOC's like this make me dead keen to get into trains!
WesternOutlaw Posted November 13, 2009 Very nice Selander. I love European electric trains that really have a lot of character. Your LEGO version is very well done, especially how you infused the red bricks and created the custom VR emblem. This deserves front-page coverage. Excellent! Piranha Posted November 13, 2009 Wow this is really amazing  Excellent job! Not much more to describe, just stare and enjoy
MetroiD Posted November 13, 2009 What a wonderful loc :] Great job Selander! I agree with Milan that it looks a tad bit short compared to the original model, however your clarification on that is right. Blowing it to its actual proportions would probably make it look bad in LEGO world. So I think it's perfect the way it is!
Swash Buckler Posted November 13, 2009 Wow- very accurate- i'm finnish btw
CommanderFox Posted November 13, 2009 Very nice Selander!! You have captured it so realisticly!! I love the custom VR sticker. Great job! CommanderFox
Anders Nolberger Posted November 13, 2009 I hope you heard in Fagertsta I think this is very good. You also have two MOC's on the frontpage of Eurobricks at the same time right now! I don't think that happens very of often.
benny Posted November 13, 2009 Wah!!! Very nice train!!!!! It is nearly same as the real one!!!!! Good job!!! Edited by TheBrickster: Benny: please don't quote entire posts with images. It takes that much longer for people to view your comments. Thanks.

Leergut Posted November 17, 2009 Hi Selander, i think this new train fits perfect in LEGO train world. I'd like to ask about the green diesel engine in the background: Could you post an image, that focusses it? Stefan :)

Stefan :) Hello Stefan Search for "Dark green diesel shunter", it has already a thread hear on eurobricks train tech section. Otherwise on Brickshelf, user name = Selander. aawsum Posted November 29, 2009 A very nice build I must say. Again proof that 6wide trains can look very good I must say that you can give it a try to make it 4-6 studs longer.
cagri Posted November 30, 2009 Very accurate design, good job! I'd say you could loose a few studs on the top, don't you think?
