After seeing a thread on an Indy minifig frozen in a block of ice, I was inspired to retry using real ice in MOC's like I did a few years ago. I was looking for a good idea, and since I had already made a few Hoth ones, I decided to do a Harry Potter one. I'm not too pleased with the result, but some aspects turned out better than I hoped (like the tree and the doe). This was more of an experiment than a serious MOC. More pics can be found in the gallery. Gallery Link Facts: -based off of the scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows entitled "The Silver Doe" -made of two large pieces (the snow scene and the frozen lake) that fit over each other to save freezer space -if you can't see it, there's a sword frozen in the middle of the pond -to make the pond, I attached a sheet of plastic wrap into the enclosure with plates, filled it with water, and put it into the freezer Comments and criticism welcome. These "red berries" of which you speak are supposed to be light particles from Harry's recently cast Diffindo charm that breaks the ice. He's about to dive in to get the sword. Matn Posted September 12, 2009 Very nice little scene! I didn't really knew what the red studs were at first, but I thought out it was the magic Harry uses. Turns out I was right. The icy effect works really well. I was contemplating about making this scene myself, but you have done a good job using real ice. The tree looks very good and the doe looks fine, considiring it's brick built with LEGO. I recommend that you take a look at the deers and does created by patje, a BeLUG member. They look really accurate. It would be a dream if LEGO ever released those parts in trans-clear, so we will be able to make a patronus deer and doe! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
badboytje88 Posted September 26, 2009 Wow! Instantly recugnisable! I like the use of the real ice, but it would suck as a display MOC, since the ice would turn into a little pool!
