Price nowadays (2d hand): USD 400,-$ (which equals about EUR 300,-€)

Why I think it's a forgotten train? Everybody properly know the 7730, where I write a review from in near future. The 7730 is also easier to get your hands on form ebay or bricklink. And it has the famous red 12v motor and black windows. With these 3 reasons, prices of 2d hands went sky high. Even the sky is limited, but not the price of this set. That's why I bought a 7730 and rebuild this to a 7727. In this way you've a red 12v motor and can sell those 1x1x2 windows.

It has 3 wagons, a little fork truck to load or unload the goods. Also a little circle track included. You had only to buy a speedregulator with it, to have the fun. With the connect rods, it looks very realistic. Only bad there wasn't a little tender for coal or wood. Isn't that little red car cute? Love the way how it's designed and transported.

For a diehard 12v fan of grey area, you must have this train. If you only want a few sets of this train, leave this one be for what it is.

Playability: 8/10 (It takes time it the little fork truck has loaded all 5 crates on the train)

Design: 8/10 (It look realistic, but I miss a little tender behind it.)

Price (when it was in stores): 7/10 (Only missing the speedregulator.)

Price nowadays (2d hand): 2/10 (300,-€ to get your hand on this one, ridiculous.)

Overall: 8/10 (It looks like a real steam engine and lots of playability.)

Yes - a very classic 12V steam train. Panda strikes again!

What I particularly like about this set is it's mid-sized 12V black DB steam locomotive. I say "mid-sized", because I tried MOCing this engine with old instructions, and the engine came out much larger than I anticipated, larger than the 9V engine in 3225 Classic Train (it's sad when I can start remembering the set numbers without looking ).

MOCing it once again with some additional modifications and different colors resulted in my TTCE, Mining Train:

So, I find the engine design very useful for creating a classic train, just wish I had a few of those classic black train doors.

Panda: I find your 12V collection truly amazing, and how I wish that I had some of these classic train sets. The prices for these sets, even used, are enormous.

I would like to ask you one question. As I don't own any of these 12V sets, are the train wheels larger than the old spoked red wheels from Lego. These:
