I like the B model of the chopper more than the A model. It wasn't on my buy list at first but I think I'll get it for the B model :)

The loader reminds me of nico's MOC.

Both B models are quite nice, but not the container truck....

The B models look great best Ive seen in a while. Is there any pictures of the Mobile crane B model?

Not yet. But it will be a port crane anyway. :sweet:

Here is a video with the 8043 Excavator in action:

Very nice. The music is rather annoying though; I'd rather hear the model. On a similar note;

I tried to read the review via Babel Fish but aside from being funny (insane wheel  ) it's not very readable.

Yep. In French, a 16t clutch is a "roue folle" (="insane wheel").

And in France, AFOLs use the word "clutch" for the white 24t clutch gear.

Wow, it's definitely a step up in complexity from the Bulldozer, gears galore!

This will make a great first Big Technic Set for kids, it's sufficiently complex, the alternate is great, plus great potential for further models with all the gears and whatnot. Sort of like the old Universal Technic sets (or Meccano). I might get it for this reason rather than the model itself, just to see what can be made from the one box.

Impressive, but i am a bit surprised by the lack of clutches and 1:1 gearing from the M motor for 3 gearbox switching. They really nicely synced track and superstructure rotation! I suggest you to use google translate, it does its job good.

Seems like TLG has taken it up some notches. Amazing design, complexity and playability.

Yes... This will be my eternal regret...

But translating everything (all the reviews) into English is definitely too tough. Really too tough... :look:

You shouldn't regret that Anio. In my opinion it's good to know there are more languages in the world than just plain everyday English. I'm already using too much English compared to other foreign languages. I don't speak French myself, but your review is very useful - both as a review and as a great opportunity to practice the language :) (in fact your entire site is a useful learning tool :D) And of course many thanks for the great pictures of what seems to be the best Technic set ever. Especially the drive train from the four M motors is an amazing piece of Lego engineering, but actually there's very little in that set that doesn't look great.

In fact I like all second-half-of-2010 sets. The chopper looks particularly good at first sight, and even though I'm not interested in motorcycles in particular (I believe the 8422 is my only motorbike set), the good alternative model makes the set move up a few places on my wanted list.

Mobile cranes are my favorite type of model and the 2010 one looks interesting; I'm still curious to the alternative. But I'll probably skip this crane because it doesn't seem to have really ingenious functions (although I love the outriggers). I might change my mind when the alternative model shows up :D

The blue truck is the least interesting to me. The alternative model seems to be a waste of designer's time (I don't see anything interesting in it) and there is too little blue and too much grey for my taste. Otherwise it looks like a decent model and it's something we haven't seen before.

Wow, thanks for the review and video of the excavator! After reading everything and watching the vehicle in action, I really have no more doubts about the absolute necessity to own this set. The model is fairly complex, and the achieved functionality is superb. Unfortunately the set is quite expensive, but for me it has earned that price tag and I very much look forward to picking it up. (Hopefully it's actually available in Canada, unlike the Crane Truck from last year...)

Yup, not only do we get shafted on price, we got shafted on an entire flagship model. Luckily there's Bricklink...

This is a great review with wonderful pictures Anio. But the most obvious question is not answered. How did you manage to get this model already?! :cry_happy:

The level of complexity and sheer number of gears and functions almost makes me weep. In fact, I think I have to stop typing now....

You are right. And I must say that it is quite suprising that nobody ask it already.

In fact, I get the model thanks to my partner Peek et Poke : http://www.peeketpoke.eu/

This shop succeeded to get some copies of the model. So, it proposed them to SeTechnic members. Unfortunately, it is not available anymore. We bought all the models in 3 days.

I hope they will have other copies in few days. :classic:

This setup is more or less what I was expecting, with two geartrains going through the turntable using an 8258-like setup. This is increasingly looking like the best Technic set we've had in years. :sweet: It feels like an AFOL-designed model with the amount of functionality and gearing they have packed into a pretty moderate space.

As Zblj said though, the lack of clutch gears is surprising, especially on the motor switching the transmission rings. That motor is going to stall frequently with the way the gearing is set up. It may be worth replacing the 16t gears with an 8t and 24t clutch instead.

Yes, the new part is very similar to the one you show.

Here is the inventory :

page 2 : http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/7990/dscn2454j.jpg

On the second page, the 2 big Light Bluish Gray parts have the quantity 2 and 1.

And there is no 11L axis. Nevertheless, the inventory is... prodigious ! :cry_happy:

edit :

@ CP5670 : you can't put a clutch ; it is too big.

Ah, it is always nice to have friends on the inside. You are very fortunate to have been able to acquire this set so early. The rest of us may have to wait months in agony. If only I was an SeTechnic member.....

Did Peek et Poke also have the other new models, or only the 8043? In case, congratulations again on your acquisition and the excellent and thorough review.
