Shouldn´t that be inverted?
I tink he means the foot print should sink into the ground not stick out, but I tottaly understand if you don't hane enough dark grey pieces. I don't
By the way the foot print looks exalent, nice use of snot.
Yeah that's a pretty neat print, still would have been better if it sunk in a beautifull moonlandscape :)
It sure is something different
and to my big surprise it really doesn´t look like the footstep is sunken in!
Well done, CopMike!
I wondered who brought you to this idea...
Yep, that´s because the human eye is deceived by the surroundings. We imagine the lightsource coming from the upper left corner, casting shadows to many scars in the surface. But the lightsource is from the lower right corner, casting shadows on several dust bumps lying on the ground. Indeed the footprint is sunken pretty deep into the surface.
oh wow... what an optical illusion
1. It´s a trap!
2. It really is an optical illusion.
3. I had little time to build, had a train to catch.
4. It a MOC in Andy Warhol style.
5. I need a brain surgery.
6. Everybody knows they never went to the moon, it´s taken in a backyard in Enfield, CT.
This picture shows it a bit better:

Thanks DJ for getting the facts right and me straight !
Actually quite clever relying on the optical illusion/shadow recognition in the original to allow you to create an "inverted" model that looks like the shadows your eye tries to see in the original!
It works better actually in the thumbnail image in your sig!
Very nice MOC. Also, let me just say that it is great that Eurobricks is taking the time to honor such a great and significant event in not only US history, but the history of the world as well. As Mr. Armstrong said, this was something that the world could unite around. Unfortunately, it just pissed the Soviets off a whole bunch.
Very nice work !
and I think the only valable excuse for the fact that it's inverted is :
Great job Copmike
So I guess this is the look if we were to lift up the crust of the moon and see the opposite side of the footprint, right?
Great job anyways!
The MOC in itself is a great optical illusion as well.
Since the baseplate appears to be lighter then the footprint, the footprint actually will look indented after looking at it for a while.
I love Andy Warhol stuff, great job Mike!
Very cool. You might have already noticed, but this got mentioned on the Brothers Brick.
Simple but clearly unmistakeable! Nice work

That didn't happen today. Maybe you just heard about it today? BTW, I had no idea what this was supposed to be until I read the thread a little. I originally thought "ladder." But after I found out what it was, and the optical illusion took effect, it was pretty cool.
