Cooper Posted June 5, 2009 (edited) Sedona 4-6-2 Special thanks to SavaTheAggie for posting his creations. Studying his work has certainly been helpful as reference in addressing the special challenges that curves and switches pose for steam engines. UPDATE 6/8/2009 New boxcar to complement the locomotive Everything together with a minor update to the front end of the engine. Captain Zuloo Posted June 5, 2009 In many aspects, this loco is similar to 10194, but you have made it your own well done there. How do you plan to power this beauty?
Cooper Posted June 5, 2009 How do you plan to power this beauty? I tucked all of the PF hardware into a boxcar. Since the time of the photo above I have updated the boxcar to include the PF Train Motor for the rear truck (in addition to the geared front truck). More photo of the PF boxcar on flickr
Davey Posted June 5, 2009 Nice work Cooper! I love the color scheme and this is a great rendition of 10194. I especially like your power solution by fitting the PF stuff into a boxcar. I just might have to steal that idea. Keep up the great building! -Dave
PaulF Posted June 5, 2009 First the 4-8-8-4 Emerald night and now this.. Sigh, just another great creation that I want to build a copy of.
Cooper Posted June 5, 2009 I especially like your power solution by fitting the PF stuff into a boxcar. I just might have to steal that idea. While this is the first time I have seen the new EN PF battery and IR sensor incorporated into the boxcar design, as I mention on my flickr, credit to swoofty for some earlier pathfinding regarding the consolidation of PF features into one self contained unit. WesternOutlaw Posted June 6, 2009 First, let me say welcome to EB Cooper. It's great to see more train fans posting here and sharing their train creations. In regard to your MOC, what a nice locomotive! It has a very sleek design similar to the Emerald Night. I like the orange and grey stripe which I've seen a lot of on these types of engines. I was thinking that the motor was tucked in under the boiler, like the Emerald, but what a great idea to place it in the boxcar. I'd love to see a picture of the boxcar with the side on. It looks like an equally nice creation. Where does one find the large dark grey wheels? Are these custom pieces? (EDIT: I just noticed your Flickr link - please disregard) In any case, thanks for sharing this fantastic creation with us. -added to Train Tech.
Cooper Posted June 9, 2009 Thanks for the welcome Brickster. I created a new thread featuring the power functions boxcar Also, I updated the first post to include a new boxcar that goes with the locomotive in the first post.
