PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

Recommended Posts

At the Mall of America today I saw the current pick-a-model.

They also had 4 bins labled "Fan Favorites".

They were 1x2 Sand Green plates, 1x1 Sand Green Bricks, 1x2 dark grey plates with a towball on the side(mixels), and md stone grey 2x2 plate with towball socket flattened

Usually I carefully pack my cups, today I simply scooped in parts until the cups were full.

Filled a large cup at my Lego store on Friday. They had the sand green 1x2 plates and 1x1 bricks. They also had 6x12 green plates.

Great to see some of the sand green parts escaped to stores outside of NY. Even for people who can't find them locally, it should depress the price somewhat on bricklink.

The truck is pretty uninspiring as far as selection goes. Lots of those same pieces have been on the wall at my store for months now as left overs from other models.

Is the second model going to be released at the same time or is it just the truck that we can expect for most stores?

Bellevue store had 1x1 sand green bricks, but no 1x2 plates, which is what I was really after. :sceptic: Didn't get any, but the bin was nearing empty so clearly other people were.

I went to the Orland Park store today in Chicago. They normally have both models on the wall at the same time. They only had the truck.

The clerk there indicated to me that the bigger wall stores had the truck, and the smaller stores had the frog. She also said that that was the only model they'd have on the wall for the entire 3 month period. She didn't know if this was how it was going to be going forward, or specific to this one. This model has significantly more pieces (66) then previous ones (avg about 40).

Another splurge:

At Westfield Southcenter:

28249682185_4bb6370df8.jpg 28249687975_d0eab4d308.jpg

6 cups. Did not get the exclusive set (on the right), though this purchase qualified for it, and I did not think of it until later (more on that later).

The white 1x6x5 panels have been on my wishlist, but they make poor use of space in the PAB cups, so I came up with this trick: Stack 5 2x4 bricks + 1 2x4 plate + tiles on top. This stack will fit snugly inside the panel. Then 1 2x4 brick and 1 1x2 brick (or you can use 1 each 2x2 & 2x3 bricks) to fill in the remaining space. 2 grill tiles meshed together in the corner. If you wish, stick 1x1 round tiles inside the 2x4 & 1x2 bricks. Place in a cup and fill remaining space with small pieces.

All pieces sorted. Not pictured: 1320 Dark Pink 1x4 bricks.

At Bellevue Square:

28249699175_f9a434e075.jpg 28249704905_22f969a89a.jpg

5 cups + one exclusive set.

When I drove to Bel-Square, I realized I did not get the set with my Southcenter purchase,. so I brought my receipt when I went to the Bel-Square store, and showed it to the clerk, and after verifying I did not get it (it was not on the receipt), he gave me one, in addition to the one I got with my Bel-Square purchase.

Sand green! (there was not much available, otherwise I would have bought more) Not pictured: 602 Sand Green 1x1 bricks, 2 more than I wanted. What would I do without a scale with a counting function?

I was hoping to get the more Magenta 1x4 bricks in quantity, but the Southcenter store had none, and the B-Square store had only a few in their mixed-pieces bin, which also yielded white 2x2 plates, white 2x2 slopes, trans-red 1x1 tiles, and 1 blue 2x2 corner brick, among others.

Another splurge:

At Bellevue Square:

Alderwood Mall (Lynnwood) Lego store has about a full large PaB cup left of the sand green 1x1 bricks and 1x2 plates. I just took a small cup's worth of both from their yesterday.

I only filled a small cup, as there weren't many new interesting parts. I'm still hoping to get sand green some day like what lucky newyorkers got :D

Had some time to stack and not just throw in stuff willy-nilly. Manager to fit in 300 pieces in a round cup about 7 bricks high. Since the cup costs € 10 it set me back some € 0,033 per piece.

The Disney figure and three lightbricks were seperately bought of course

Went to Lego store in Liverpool and got 2 large cups.

In total I got 466 bricks 1x4 with 4 studs on the side and around 1640 round 1x1 tiles. It is not bad, but I was told cups need to close fully with a click, so had to remove some. I was very unimpressed with that comment. Never had that before!

Indeed, usually if it is more or less closed they simply add tape. Though that I try to not fill too much the cup, most of the time it can't fully click and stay closed.

Had some fun speed stackin (had a ten min in & out timelimit). Stocked up on plates, needed, n alot of 1x1 bricks in dark bley. The purple 1x1 round plates n fy teeth were filler, doing a mincraft moc atm so blue, dbg n lbg plates n the 2x2 n 1x1 brick find were godsends, plus 2x vip points.

Side note, folks at my store are like, 'fits close enough, lets tape it for sure, we've already helped u pick up one this year" :)

Any chance you could tell me if they had any (dark)blueish grey pieces? (1*2, slopes, plates?) Thanks!

There were 1x4 lbg bricks with studs on side.

6x3 lbg "wings" (triangle plates) left & right

Slopes or small plates : most likely not, or else I would have taken a few (there were black 2x2 plates and black 2x4 slopes though).

Some time ago there were dbg bricks, not sure they still had them. Sometimes they have other parts available in the back.

Each time I think "I'll take a photo of the bins for the inventory", each time I forget

Put a note in your PAB cups. There it will be when you bring them for refills. Or put the note in your wallet before you go.

Is that 1x2 plate pink or the lighter lavender color? Thanks

Has anyone spotted sand green anywhere in Europe?

I had some fun this summer road tripping through different LEGO stores.  I found the Bordeaux store in France had the best PAB wall.  I wasn't able to find a real store in Spain or Portugal, is LEGO not popular in the south?

Whats the thing at the bottom left with the three minifigures? I've never seen them packaged like that.

That's from the "Build a Minfigure" station. There are several parts and accessories which you can mix & match to create your own minifigs. If you buy 3 of those, you get that blister to carry them home.
