Future74 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) After getting the AT-TE with an improved S.T.A.P. I took a closer look at the one included in set 7654 (Droid battlepack) and knew I just had to make a little adjustment. This is the result: Original: Mod: You can now detach it and the droid can still stand. Edited April 16, 2009 by KimT
L-space Posted March 15, 2009 Cool. A nice little MOD with a great outcome and easy to do.
KinGanon Posted March 15, 2009 Yeah I never liked how the STAP couldn't detach from the stand without coming apart Good job on a simple yet effective mod. By the way, what piece is that, it looks very unfamiliar(perhaps a modded piece?)
prateek Posted March 15, 2009 Nice MOD. is that a modded saber hilt?
the lord of the brick Posted March 15, 2009 It's a fantastic idea. Very cool Is that a modded saber hilt? I suppose that it's a pin 3/4.
Icesaber Posted March 15, 2009 Yeah I never liked how the STAP couldn't detach from the stand without coming apart Good job on a simple yet effective mod. By the way, what piece is that, it looks very unfamiliar(perhaps a modded piece?) Looks like a 3/4 pin with a stud and cheese slope. This is good, but I think the platform the droid stands on could be a little wider.
KinGanon Posted March 15, 2009 It's a fantastic idea. Very coolI suppose that it's a pin 3/4. A second look shows that you are correct! Thanks for clarifying.
Dutch Posted March 15, 2009 nice mod so off a go to make my staps better ya
prateek Posted March 16, 2009 It's a fantastic idea. Very coolI suppose that it's a pin 3/4. Yeah, cool I see it now. Future74 put a 1x1 round plate before a cheese slope. It makes it look like a hilt
posades Posted March 16, 2009 Nice idea, may have to try it out with my own STAPs. And the pieces used aren't rare either which is a plus.
Legoking Posted March 16, 2009 Wow, you are smart. I have never thought of doing that. Great Thinking!!!! LegoKing
Future74 Posted March 16, 2009 Thanks everyone. Yes, it's simple and so much better than the original. I suppose that it's a pin 3/4. Great eyes Yes, this is the piece I used. Just made a quick picture: Sorry about the lack of light...
Ras 74 Posted March 16, 2009 Nice little mod I never liked the original version as well. And since the S.T.A.P now is only attached with one stud, instead of two to the stand, it is easier to remove as well. -Ras-
Millacol88 Posted March 17, 2009 Nice little MOD. You seem good at making things with finicky little pieces, I was never very good at that. I too wasn't sure what pieces you used until someone clarified it.
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted March 17, 2009 I hate to dissagree with everyone, but I personally like the wings that are usually found on a STAP. But it is a good mod anyway!
Icesaber Posted March 18, 2009 I hate to dissagree with everyone, but I personally like the wings that are usually found on a STAP. But it is a good mod anyway! You mean on the official blue one from the AT-TE? Those are way too big. Another solution I think would be to use a minifig neck bracket and a 1x3 plate (sorry if I'm intruding on your topic Future74)
Future74 Posted March 18, 2009 Nice little mod I never liked the original version as well. And since the S.T.A.P now is only attached with one stud, instead of two to the stand, it is easier to remove as well. Thanks. Yes, that bugged me as well. Nice little MOD. You seem good at making things with finicky little pieces, I was never very good at that. I too wasn't sure what pieces you used until someone clarified it. With only three pieces it's easily modded. I havent got a lot of extra lego to spare, except for the very old yellowish pieces, and I dont want to break down SW sets. So that's born out of necessity. I hate to dissagree with everyone, but I personally like the wings that are usually found on a STAP. But it is a good mod anyway! No problem. I like the wings as well on the new S.T.A.P., but you'll have to agree that you cant call the 1x3 plate on the old S.T.A.P. a real wing can you You mean on the official blue one from the AT-TE? Those are way too big.Another solution I think would be to use a minifig neck bracket and a 1x3 plate (sorry if I'm intruding on your topic Future74) Will try the neck bracket when I'm back home and maybe post a picture of that. Good idea. But I'm not sure on the 1x3 plate, maybe I'll find an alternative for that...
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted March 18, 2009 Of course not, those wings aren't half the wings on the STAP from 7675 (yay I agreed). Hopefully we'll see a STAP mod 2 soon (I don't have the brown STAP)
Icesaber Posted March 19, 2009 Will try the neck bracket when I'm back home and maybe post a picture of that. Good idea. But I'm not sure on the 1x3 plate, maybe I'll find an alternative for that... I just tried it. It looks good, but the trans-piece can't attach to the center stud anymore and it's kind of loose. Probably best for some display.
Future74 Posted March 20, 2009 Didnt have the camera present when I tried it so I havent got pictures. I agree the neck bracket is loose and short when attached. But I liked the suggestion.
RileyC Posted March 20, 2009 A good little MOD to do, although i dont have this set
DoctorDude234 Posted April 24, 2009 An easier way to make the foot thingy is to just merely put the 1x3 on the the grey 1x1 grey brick with the peg hole. That's what I did.
