haha, i wouldnt care about what the postman thinks!

I remember buying a brickbeards bounty off some dodgy discount warehouse place on ebay. They sent it without any packaging, just in the lego box (box was pretty battered but all the pieces were there!). I was in when the postman delivered it and he handed it over, i didnt get any funny looks! Way i see it, it could have been a present for someone, but if he had asked i would have said it was for me, im not ashamed of my ridiculous lego addiction

I do most of my lego shopping online. If you are buying from a reputable place like amazon you wont have anything go wrong. Ebay is more of a mixed bag, but i havent had many bad experiences and its often the best way to pick up older sets.

Overall i think online is probably better for buying it discretely, you dont have to go into a shop and walk out with a massive tru or lego bag! Plus you can find some real bargains online, like those amazon ones!

I have few bad stories with online experience.

I am brazillian and I always bought from USA and australia. I had few dissapointments, loose few boxes and minifigures. but even living in UK now, the prices are better in the web, if you wait for the right moment!

Right now, I am waiting for a republic dropship that i bought 10 days ago (115 pounds, a bargain I thought), from a seller of london too and he did not send it for me. I´ll cancel and get my money back on wednesday.

In bricklink, spendt 30 pounds in pieces and they didn´t arrive (2 chrome stormtroopers too!!). I hope the seller refounds me.

we bought a troller for my daughter. The seller dissapeared with the money, but paypal refound me.

I bought a lot of used legos too and usually never had any problem, maybe one or 2 pieces missing, dirty, but its worth.

I have to say that i used more than 200 times the bricklink and ebay.

...

i remember signing for a parcel one morning, and as the postman handed it over it rattles and he says "i hope this isn't broken?", i replied "should be able to put it back together again with no problems!". a BrickLink splurge is the worst though, when you are getting two or three Jiffy Envelopes every few days, you feel like saying "its not porn or drugs, its just Lego pieces!"

Minifigs Series 2 has finally hit here, Smyths has them (the website says they're out of stock but they've loads). I got 20 random bags and missed five figs, but hit all my priorities. Probably could have done without four Karatekas but he is one of the most common.

Just had a scout round Southampton for minifigs.

Argos had a load of series 2 minifigs. They werent in the standard display case, but in a larger bin type thing. Looks like they are just going to be dumping handfulls of them into it without sticking to the boxes of 60. Might make it more difficult to get certain figures. They also had 2 boxes of series 1.

Toys r us had 2 fullish boxes as well. On a shut till as well so easy to pick out the ones you want.

Nothing in John Lewis as of yet!

Managed to get 7 Spartans, dont think there are any left in Southampton

I don't know if anybody can help with this but I recently read about the 20% off vouchers for VIP card holders within stores to be used in September. Unfortunately, when I called the shops which family members can get to (Milton Keynes and Brighton - I'm not that close to a shop myself in north London) both had run out of the vouchers. I was hoping to get the Grand Emporium this month so 20% off would be really useful!

I don't suppose anyone has a spare voucher that they don't need do they? If so I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Jon

I've just been to the Brighton shop - they have a small supply of calendars, but you have to ask (as usual the staff are very friendly and helpful). No idea if it's one per customer. The voucher applies to only a single item, not the total cost of the purchase.

No idea how many they have left or if this only works in Brighton,

Cheers,

since the Brand Stores and the shop at Legoland Windsor are not part of the same chain, I would say no ...

I don't know if he'll read this but 'hello' to the fellow AFOL I met yesterday at the Series 2 minifig section at WHSmith in Wood Green!

Whichever of you took all the spartans, feel my wrath!

There's two boxes about 1/3 full each in WHSmith. Toy City hasn't got any in yet - but they said in the next day or two they would.

WHSmith has got 25% off some Lego - but given that it's overpriced in the first place, it's not worth it (eg. Army Men on Patrol, with 25% off, was £11)...

When you buy anything there, you get a flyer, which has a voucher in it for 10% off toys (and some other stuff) and 20% off everything else. But still it won't be much of a discount, given the original mark-up!

Also, there's a voucher in the Lego club magazine for £1 off Hero Factory sets at Tesco... should you want it!

Just a heads up, there are hundreds of series two figures at the Lego store in Milton Keynes. I went there yesterday and picked up a few more figures (I wanted two more spartans, another Pharaoh and two more Karate guys).

Toys r us have already knocked a tenner off their truck and shop set(no 7848)

http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Toys/Construction/Lego-City-Truck-and-Shop-7848(0080966);jsessionid=F26CB595592F3B3B486A374714DEE44A.app25

Hope to think no one actually paid the £40 they were asking. Trying it on just a little bit id say. :sceptic:

I couldn't even think off paying £40 for that set it would just be... wrong?

I was the same! My Fiancee told me to get it a while back & I had it in my hand, then it dawned on me that I could buy 2 of the regular trucks for the same price so put it back!!

They must've realised they just weren't selling!

Hopefully they'll reduce the price of 8404 Public Transport too as charging kids/parents £20 OVER Lego's own price for the set is nothing short of scandalous!

I know I actually could think that kids and parents would buy that set for £99 it makes me ashamed

Found some minifigs in John Lewis the other day, Just on the shelf so easy to get what you want. Heard they are in Game as well which is a new one on me.

Luckily im pretty much done with this series, got 12 spartans which will probably do me, as i broke my foot the other day so dont fancy hobbling round town looking for these!
