Cardinal Brick Posted August 27, 2008 Bah! Cross Bow Attack a mere wannabe lets take a look at the original. Theme: Castle Set Name: Siege Cart Set Number: 6012 Number of Pieces: 51 Figures:2 Released: 1986 List Price: £1.95 (according to price tag on box) $3.50 (USD) Lets us begin with the box. The cart being move into position while an archer provides cover. The back shows a selection of alternative models, the plough’s quite inventive. After opening the box we find the instruction booklet Being a set from the 80’s Lego have been kind to us and provided us with two figures and a lot of kit, for the two soldier we are provided with; three spears, one bow and quiver, 1 shield and a blue cape. Someone’s certainly decided to kit this pair out well. The construction is simple and effective, it uses common parts which give you the opportunity to build more of them. Main body under construction. The arm is very simple but also effective. The cart fully decked out and ready for war Finally it all comes together, troops and their siege cart. Are you ready for a war? They sure are What do you mean the bolt doesn’t fire, who designed this thing! A good set from the early days of Lego Castle, it’s easy to build and made of common parts. Also for those interested in army building you’re paying one pound a figure in the UK which is uncommonly good value. The Rating System Figures: 7/10 (Two figure but both have the same torso) Parts 7/10 (There’s a good selection of parts though it is black heavy.) Fun Fun Fun 8/10 (It’s a good fun set and I plan to amass an army of them.) Design 9/10 (Great design uses simple parts to great effect) Price 9/10 (At the original UK price give me 20 of them) Grand Total 40/50 Very highly rated. Conclusion. A great set, it provides a wide array of those must have accessories for the discerning knight. The designers seem to have struggled to come up with a large number of great alternative but that doesn’t matter to me there are still several interesting one. This set is better than army builder we’ve been provided with recently as it allows you to only build one faction at a time.
KimT Posted August 27, 2008 Thanks for that fine review. Personally I think this was the Golden Age for LEGO Castle - yes the new Castle theme is also great But look at that thing, it's beautiful I'll add this to the Castle Review Index

WhiteFang Posted August 28, 2008 I love the good old days of castle. It's so fun to play with, especially with the range of weapons offered. Nowadays, it's getting harder to get quiver these days. This set is indeed a classic. Seeing it again in high quality pictures, certainly placed a smile in my face. This is superb good army building set. Good job on this fine review. Teddy Posted August 28, 2008 Dear Cardinal Brick, thanks for the review! I just love this set. I got one back in the days. Shouldn't they have called it Ballista attack? Wish I had gotten more than one. Well I guess I just need to keep on dreaming/hoping they will re-release the 80s sets. Kind regards, Teddy

WhiteFang Posted August 28, 2008 Well I guess I just need to keep on dreaming/hoping they will re-release the 80s sets. Teddy, I shared the same sentiments too. This is just a far far away dream for these sets to be back again. I miss those Forestmen and Black Falcon.
