BricksMcgee Posted August 29 Hi folks, it’s that time of year again already! I’ve had a hectic year so apologies for the silence since last year - we’ve added 2 new categories (one for purist builds as a user suggested here, and a “build challenge”), and entries will open on Sunday again. Look forward to seeing what everyone has been building again! - The Brick Train Awards are back for their fifth year, with 17 categories to enter your models in. From steam, diesel and electric locomotive categories to wagons, scenery and even a “purist” category for those builders who don’t use custom parts such as wheels and rods. The awards started in 2020, and to celebrate their 5th year a new “build challenge” category allows builders to submit a new, railway-related physical or digital LEGO build which fits within a cube of 16 studs. Each entry is shared on the Brick Train Awards social accounts too, so it’s worth following on Instagram and Facebook for a month full of LEGO train goodness in your feeds! Entering your models is free, and can be done from 1st - 30th September 2024 at bricktrainawards.com where information on each category is listed. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges from the international LEGO train community, and prizes for the global winners are kindly provided by Trixbrix.eu. TeddytheSpoon Posted August 30 Small question on the eligibility dates - I see in the FAQs it goes back to September 1st 2022, does that mean the models need to have been completed before September 1st this year? Or is September 30th the cut-off? Say, if someone has a consist that's still work-in-progress...

It’s fine if the model is completed by 30th September - I know we have some people still building!
Murdoch17 Posted August 30 @BricksMcgee Just a thought - there really needs to be a 'railway-related structure' category. I have a bridge and switch tower that don't fit really any of the categories except 'purist'... and that doesn't feel like a good fit IMO. I also fairly sure other people have stations, sheds, switch towers, bridges and other structures they'd like to enter - but can't. Maybe next year, if possible? We did used to have one, but it didn’t receive enough entries to be worthwhile, sadly!
