Celesté before Blathers? I guess he's coming soon though. The celseté set might be the first I buy for my self, I've bought others as gifts but I think I'll get 2 of the celseté set, one for myself and one for my sister, it's less than a tenner for a nice looking build and one of the best characters.

Honestly, they should have held off on doing Celeste until they figured out an arm mould. The standard minifigure arms just don’t work at all…

Even if they didn’t want to create a new mould, the Baymax arms could have worked, or even the looney tunes road runner arms. I get they want the figures to be able to hold things, so maybe not road runner, but no way should they have just used the minifig arms… would have set them up for Blathers, as well as the duck and chicken villagers

No Sable is a bit of a downer, but otherwise, I think all of these sets are very good! Able Sister's for $40 is a good price, and I'm very excited to see Poppy is coming. I'd still love to see a CMF wave at some point to fill in the increasing amount of gaps in the NPC line and get a few more villagers, though...

On second look, it also looks like there's a new kind of flower with the Celeste set - possibly mums? Those look very reusable and handy.

Those pieces will be introduced in the Wicked sets :classic: Quite nice to see them here as well!

The wing arms wouldn‘t work. As you pointed out yourself, the minifigs would not be able to hold things which reduces playability quite significantly. Not sure how well newly moulded arms would‘ve worked either, given they‘d still need to have clips of some description, making them look weird :shrug_oh_well: Minifig arms aren‘t accurate at all, but still the lesser evil

I think these sets look adorable—though with another sibling pair split up, the need for a minifigure series or something to fill in gaps is more evident than ever.

Only three sets is also a slight disappointment, though, especially since no actual houses are included in the lineup this time. I'd been sort of hoping for something like the "Maker sets" in the Mario theme (perhaps a "Happy Home Designer" set?) that could be used to build and customize multiple houses, with a selection of furniture, windows, doors, and optional house styles. As it is the ability to build houses for the growing number of figs without them is seriously limited by the lack of window and door variety, despite new window and door styles being introduced specifically for this theme.

I expect the 2HY wave will feature larger sets like potentially the museum, since that tends to be the case across themes.

5 characters in this wave with all of them being NEW. I love that the NPC Characters are getting to shine but I hope future waves give us more villagers. I don’t think we have even scratched the surface.

Lack of Orville and Sable must mean that a CMF series is coming soon. They wouldn’t separate them from their sets unless they had plans later on in the future.

There needs to be a CMF series. The amount of squirrels alone that I want to see in minifig form is insane.

I mean, who wouldn't want Blaire?

To be honest squirrels are some of the easier ones to do since head and tail molds already exist. It's a bit of a shame that this wave of sets doesn't include any new villager types—squirrels and bunnies are always popular but plenty of other species still have yet to appear (including my favorite villager, Merengue the rhino).

That said, it seems the new molds this wave all went toward the NPC characters like Leif, Celeste, and Mabel, where they're much appreciated. I can already foresee people juxtaposing the Mabel fig with Sonic the Hedgehog!

I still don‘t think a CMF series is necessary. There‘s only so much you can do with 12 minifigs, and the minifigs we‘ve had so far are of such high quality with unique head pieces and prints that a CMF series could not really improve them in any way :shrug_oh_well: Maybe by adding unique accessories, but that would create inconsistencies with the sets. Them using existing pieces for the items adds to the theme’s charm in my book.

The only benefit I‘d see is to speed things up, as they currently seem to approach things slowly by introducing important characters one by one

One of the issues currently is important characters getting left out of some of the only sorts of sets they'd belong in—Orville didn't appear in the airport set and Sable didn't appear in the tailor shop, despite both of those characters mostly appearing in those locations. A CMF series would be an avenue to release those "missing" characters without having to wait for the theme to age enough to retread those subjects.

There's also really no shortage of villagers to release, to the point where it's practically impossible that everyone's favorite could be released—but a CMF would offer an opportunity for a batch release of several, potentially even including villagers who might need bespoke molds such as Ankha (with her distinct headdress making the normal cat mold insufficient) or rare villager species like octopus (with only a handful of villagers of that type and probably needing a unique leg mold unlike most other species).

A CMF series could also be an opportunity to include special holiday characters like Jingle, Jack, or Franklin. Outside of the occasional Advent Calendar (which only the biggest licensed themes tend to get anyway), holiday-themed sets are a rarity in ordinary themes—possibly because the seasonal relevance of such sets can be fleeting compared to the typical shelf life of a retail set. But CMF series are not only shorter-lived than typical retail sets (typically only being available for a few months instead of a year or more), but are a great avenue to release more "niche" characters who are special but might not fit naturally into ordinary retail sets.

All this is to say that while a CMF series may not be 100% necessary, it certainly wouldn't hurt and would provide a good avenue to release characters we might not get otherwise.

Fully agreed. And aside from the heads, most of the other parts could even be used for other minifigs, especially in city scenarios. I really do fear that, if we can't get a CMF, or possibly an advent calendar, that Orville, Sable, and more may never get made...

That‘s an argument against doing a CMF series though  I‘d say it‘s not very consumer-friendly to release one member of a duo in a set that‘ll be available for roughly 2 years and the other in a very short-lived CMF series.

Besides, CMF series tend to include variants of the main characters, so two spots would go to Nook and Isabelle for sure.

The main reason however why I‘m opposed to CMF series based on AC, HP, or SW is that we currently only seem to have one licensed theme a year again and I‘d rather they either use that spot for a theme that can benefit from that budget (Marvel) or new licenses that are unlikely to get regular sets

That said, if AC got a yearly series à la the Mario buildable figures that‘s in addition to the three other CMFs, I‘d welcome it with open arms!

To be honest, I'm not really thinking about it in terms of what it'd be "taking the place of", especially since my interest in other CMF themes like Marvel is quite limited. I feel like it'd work better as an "atypical" series like the Mario ones anyway, possibly including not just figures and accessories but maybe also small builds like those sets had (allowing them to include things like scenery or furniture to complement each character).

Julian is coming in a polybag next year! :excited: 30703 Julian‘s Beach Painting (credit goes to @Lego_Minecraft_Goat)

I kinda wish it would be someone new, but I also passed on the original Julian set, so I'll probably pick it up.

…fudge, I forgot that the German and English Julians aren’t the same! In the German version, Julian is actually Punchy :snicker: The unicorn is instead named Jimmy.

Too bad. I‘d much rather have Punchy, but the chances for that are virtually zero since the source isn‘t German

More cat villagers would be great. We already have Rosie and Tangy, TLG - we know you have the mould!

Haha, not even 24hrs ago I was considering buying Julian’s birthday party because it was cheap, but then I fell asleep and forgot about it. Glad I held off after seeing the polybag leak

wonder if he’ll have a new outfit tho? I do like the shirt he had in his current set, but if they’re going to do a repeat of him in the polybag, I’m sure most Lego fans would want him in new clothes. I personally don’t mind tho

A Julian repeat isn't that exciting to me (unless it's a mistranslation from another language, as @BrickBob Studpants suggests could be a possibility). Granted, new minifigures in Lego polybags are more the exception than the norm (Maple was a rare treat in the broader context of Lego polybags).
