SpacePolice89 Posted August 12 Several times I've found Lego pieces when walking on streets, beaches or in the woods. When I went to the beach last week I found a pink round 1x1 plate and then I thought that I should ask what you have found over the years. My favorite find is a skeleton that I found when I was a teenager (pictured below, it was missing one arm that I replaced). I've also found a brown rowing boat at the same beach a year later. Once around the year 2000 when my dad and I went for a drive with the car along some country roads we found some bricks from the Adventurers temple on the side of the road. On several occasions I've found smaller pieces. What have you found?
DelQuinn Posted August 12 The skeleton was an awesome find! I've only found a couple small pieces here and there. Once I was out with the family in winter a few years back and found a black 1x3 curved slope piece in the snow. It has a few nicks and scratches but otherwise in reasonable shape. I've kept in in my coat pocket ever since for good luck.
JopieK Posted August 13 Yup, two months ago when doing some shopping, I don't remember which part it was though. Here it is very common: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/whimsical-legos-are-still-washing-ashore-decades-after-they-were-lost-at-sea-180979580/
Autumn Posted August 13 About a year ago I found a 1x1 round plate in trans light blue at a library. When I was child I found a blue one of these on the street:
BrickMatit Posted August 13 Once I found a skull on the banks of a lake, between some rocks, near the water. I was a kid - probably it was in the end of the Nineties - and it was my first skull. At that time I had only a few small sets: 3 or 4 from town and 3 or 4 from fright knights.
Karalora Posted August 13 I have a Spider-Man minifigure I found in an alley, in shockingly good condition for having been left on the ground for any length of time.
Corydoras Posted August 13 Once, as a kid, I found an M-Tron/Spyrius (don't remember which one it was exactly) container box under my neighbor friend's windows. He then leaned out the window and said it was his, and I gave it back to him. Another time, I found an Ice Planet torso, and even though it was cracked and slightly faded, I was overjoyed, as I loved Ice Planet and only had one minifigure from the theme back then. BrickBob Studpants Posted August 15 I've found two pieces in the middle of the street, a 2x2 yellow Duplo brick in good condition and a badly scratched Minecraft sword (not on the same day and in different locations) I took both of them home and cleaned them thoroughly
The Reader Posted August 16 I once found a heavily scratched white 1x4x3 panel on the sidewalk. Senor Palomar now uses it as sign for his trading post (the sticker is self-printed):
Peppermint_M Posted August 18 I have found a lot of random bricks lying around on the ground (some worth rescuing, some that just need responsible disposal) but I live in a village that has a primary school (Grade School) and is walkable, so a lot of small children are bound to be dropping parts they smuggle out of the house. I do put minifigures somewhere they can be spotted as losing those is devastating and I want the kids to have a chance to spot them. My best find was Homemaker figure parts half buried in demolition rubble, a very old derelict building was torn down when I was a rascally child who would sneak into places like that (These days I can wear my work boots, hi-vis jacket and a tool manufacturer hat and look entirely like I should be in those sort of places ). There were also some old pre-decimal coins, so I wonder if there had been a nook or hole that it was easy for things to fall into.

This brings back a memory from when I was about six years old. My dad had pulled up some carpet to replace it and I can't remember why but he pulled up some floorboards too and we found quite a bit of Lego down there. Some of it was a helmet, a megaphone, a rifle/camera thing, mostly space elements. Edited August 18 by Autumn
BrynnOfCastlegate Posted August 18 I was helping a friend vacuum out her van once, and she let me keep all the LEGO elements we found. There were a bunch of pieces, but the only one I remember was a nice Friends figure.
rtamason Posted August 21 I once found a ice skater figure at a bus stop that I picked up for my Granddaughter.

I found a formerly spring-loaded cannon that didn't fare so well, lawnmower carved one of the bars off of it and put a big dent in the side so it doesn't work. It still looks like a cannon though so it was good enough for me.

That was going to be my question. Ocean currents are truly fascinating. (Look up the Garfield phones too, a most weird thing!) There was recent news that a fishing crew pulled up a LEGO shark. This page will probably interest you all.

antp Posted August 27 I found a few times a random brick in the street. I remember when I was kid I found a few bricks (4 or 5 ?) on the beach, in the sand. It was a good proof to what my father said, not to take Lego to the beach or I would lose parts :D (so I never did, I was only playing with regular toy cars). More recently (well, still a little more than ten years ago), I remember I saw a whole bunch of parts on the street, but nothing was salvageable: cars already flattened all I don't know if it was lost by someone or if that just dropped from a trash bag. I was more lucky when I found a whole set 3844 (Creationary), with the box and mostly complete, laying among the trash bags waiting to be picked up in front of the building across the street of where I lived. All was still clean, fortunately (I washed all, though).

You will find I was quoting someone, maybe take a read through and try correcting the person who made the post? 23 hours ago, JaBaCaDaBra said: I know all about it, also that TLG didn't do any effort to clean our beaches. It looks like you know how to quote, so maybe find who I was quoting? Also, ocean plastic is a huge issue and the fact that even all these years later people are finding substantial parts from the spill? It is evidence that the parts were nowhere near the coastline to be successfully "cleaned up" in the same manner of other spills that occur. A "bounty" system would be abused and generate a pittance for anyone handing in found parts. One container is, sorry, a drop in the ocean when compared to the plastic waste some nations dump on purpose and all the litter people just drop. Terrible terrible stuff, so we all should make our best effort to dispose of things properly. Really, all the major plastic producers and the companies that create things from plastic, could sponsor or fund efforts to collect ocean plastic and remove it from the environment. I am certain that Coke is responsible for more plastic in the ocean than a toy company. Hence, why when I do find LEGO in places it should not be, I remove it to places it should be (Aka, my collection or the plastic waste bin) and everyone who proudly declare they "chuck clones in the trash" should consider recycling instead. Millions of people use the term legos. There are many other examples where brand or company names are used as a general term (for a class of products). I don't remember finding any Lego though. Probably as a kid, but i don't remember. I have a box of never-use-Lego and now i think i should build small "mocs" and loose it on purpose in the train etc. so other people can find it.
