Louis of Nutwood Posted July 28 Serenity I woke to the constant slapping of the waves against my face. My head sunken in the black sand, bursting with the biting cold. To one side, the unstopping streams of an unknown river. To the other, trees I had never seen. A world I had never been to. Each breath was a frosty cloud dancing before my eyes. I rubbed my hands together, but warmth was nothing but a distant memory. Up in the North, winter is brutal, and I felt its cruelty in my soul. I stumbled through an untouched trail amongst twisting naked branches. The hissing wind whispered words of fear and doubt. Compelling and unquestionable, I dared to give up. It could have been weeks, months. I cannot say. For time is irrelevant when life slips away on every breath. But in the distance, amidst distorted and twisted trunks, the glimmer of a star caught my eye. And with it, the faint warmth of hope. Every step was a challenge, and every challenge, a new reason to move on. I stopped, not for being exhausted, nor for being drained. But for being amazed. For such beauty, such indescribable exquisiteness, was not from this world. Stillhettre, the tree of hope. Serenity. Louis of Nutwood
zoth33 Posted July 28 Great looking tree did you reverse some tires to get that effect? I like the layering of the leaves, plates and croissants it creates a nice visual.
Kai NRG Posted July 30 Really unique idea for the tree trunk here, I like the way the black works with the lavender. I would be interested to see this kind of tree in a larger scene.
Grover Posted July 30 Louis! You're back! I am excited. What a beautiful build to make a return with too! Love the tires on the tree trunk, and the overall dark/light contrast looks fantastic. I love your attention to detail, with the strings hanging down from the tree and the perfectly placed snow on the leaves. In my opinion, the snow only on the tops of the leaves makes the brain see a more realistic picture. I see white limbs thrown on top of other limbs frequently to give an 'idea' of snow on leaves, but it looks more like an artists rendering. This looks more like a photograph, as the snow would fall down between the leaves. Similarly, you have a few lavender plates on the ground to simulate the leaves that fell due to the weight of the snow, which looks great. The thick irregular base does a great job showcasing the 3D nature of the tree roots and looks very good. Outstanding build!
T-86(swe) Posted July 30 Lovely use of the different tires!! As mentioned earlier in tue thread the colour contrast each other in a great way. I would have loved for one of the roots to be a bit longer and stretching down towards the centre of the snow.
