Perusing LEGO Pick-A-Brick recently, I noticed the 2x2 macaroni piece is now available in trans-clear. It isn't cheap and it's the new style, but it can be ordered in Volume! Search for: 6507853

That's the new 3x3 variety, not 2x2. I'd say it's actually more useful than the old 2x2 for trains, to be honest...

Here is an example I've been working on of using them for a observation car.

Good catch. I completely missed the size difference of it going to 3x3. Interesting. Well, should be fun with my PAB order to see what I can do with the parts now.

Thanks! I was waiting for those parts to arrive on PAB for several projects since I first spotted them in the Friends mansion set back when it first was reviewed. I hope you find them useful - keep us posted on what you do with them, please!
