Steve's Boat

Ezzel a kis csónakkal járta a környéket. Nem ment nagy távokra. A terve az volt, hogy seftelni fog az árukkal amíg nem találkozik egy régi cimborájával vagy nem tud lopni vagy venni egy bárkát, hogy tovább állhasson.

[ENG]

After Steve survived the big battle and found a place to settle down, he was determined to get the attention of a ship and return him to civilisation. Every day, he sailed the sea in his little raft, so that if he saw a ship, he would have a chance to get in its way or signal it somehow.
One day luck smiled on him and a small fishing boat picked him up. From there he was taken to Porto Brick, where he left in a small sailing boat a short time later. But he grew fond of his little hideaway, so he returned there from time to time in this little boat to land his contraband. He used this little boat to travel around the area. He didn't go very far. His plan was to seft with the goods until he could meet an old mate or steal or buy a barge to keep him going.

Good thing to see an overarching, multiple part series for the contest instead of just a bunch of disparate builds. On top of that, there's a lot to like : a nice usage of parts for the sail, colourful merchandise, and an original colour scheme (black and red is fairly rare around these parts) all work in your favour.

However, I think the ship, as a contraband vessel, is a little lacking in hiding spots, maybe just a treasure chest could work to explain how he hid all his merchandise? Because I am not currently convinced...

Thank you for liking it. There is a hiding place on the boat. There is a gold bar hidden under the big chest. And the smuggled goods don't necessarily have to be hidden in a secret compartment, there's no room for that here. So just openly supplying the legal stuff you need. But otherwise, it moves in such a small area that the risk of being caught is minimal. Good boy, Steve! 😂

I missed that photo on mobile. Fair enough, well done!

Ahoy Matey!

You know me by now- It’s Captain Crit, back with another criticism sandwhich for polly!

Ye did a great job buildin’ this and writin’ a story to go along with it. I love the way each entry ye build adds to the previous one to keep telling the story of Steve.

It was a tough task to come up with a critique for this build, as it looks quite good already. The biggest thing I can think of deals not with the build, but with the presentation. I would suggest adding some blue on the lower half of the pictures to depict water. With the current purple and white background some of the builds make it appear as if the boat is flying!

Me favorite part o’ the build itself, is how well you stocked the boat, with everything Steve could possible need. Many other builds have good exteriors, but are rather lacking insides, but this build has both- well done!

Fair Winds Matey!

Now I can't unsee it, this isn't the flying dutchman, it's the flying hungarian!

Blue would do much to improve it, then again, focus on finishing any of your remaining entries before fixing presentation, since that's what most people look at first.

Great little boat: I love the seagulls. Can't find many negatives to say, but if I had to be picky, I would say that the sails look too stiff and red, and that some rigging would go a long way. Good work!

I concur, a few pieces of string would help a lot.

Then again, speaking from experience, I know strings and software just don't go together.

That's the magic of a real build. That, and being able to take it apart to build something else when you are done. Oh, and illegal building techniques.

Seen this many times but always usage of this big Technic curved panels as pieces of fabric (as sails as you did here or as tents etc.) makes me wonder - why haven't I bought them already? :D

Btw, I think there is something wrong in the entries summary post - clicked on link under this entry photo and it takes me to another topic. Is it just me or some copy-paste issue took place?

I went to the entries index, and when I click on this entry`s picture, it works just fine.

Maybe it has since been fixed?

Speaking of the sail, I quite like the fact that it is red and not white like every other MOC ever.

Red because this technic element was only available in black and red in either the S6 or S5 palette. At first it was black anyway. But the black hull made me think it was very dull

Well that was a good stylistic choice MyFirstMOC!

I am always happy to see users making MOCs with parts limitations.

It's much nicer than merely using all the colours that exist like most folks using digital designs do.

@Horation I'm clicking on the topic name, not on the picture (checked now and the picture works correctly, topic name still leads to another topic).

@MyFirstMOC-Hun Good choice with the red. Black sail would not only be dull but above all it also has dark connotations. Black sails in stories like Tristan and Iseult or slaying Minotaur by Theseus in Greek myth was a sign of death. Sails were visible from far distance and characters made a deal that black will mean failure. In both mentioned cases returning victorious hero forgot about that deal and due to misunderstanding someone died.

No problem, it's my duty to serve. When you work in IT-adjacent company, you tend to get this type of errors also in hobby related places. I was a bit confused when clicked on link and got to the topic with different ship in it. :D

Tech issues! I think we can all relate to that one. It seems to be a universal occurrence.

Another awesome entry! There's a lot to play around with this small boat. I like how all accessories fit in and you can navigate the boat with Steve's minifig. The boat shape and colour scheme are great as well. If you add this boat to the entry of "Found Forbidden Fortune" from @thewatchman would make an awesome combo! Cheers and good luck for the contest :pir-triumph:
