Arioh Posted July 15 (edited) Hi. I decided to give new TC a try. Im not sure if i manage to finish this small car, before my enthusiasm run out... Main idea - make simple skeletal car in style of early technic vehicles like 8865, with minimal bodywork made of beams and connectiors. Right now i have a rolling chassis in ldd, but it still needed to be built and tested in physical build. I managed to implement in simple chassis all features that i wanted: I4 engine with diff on rear axle, basic suspension and working steering wheel. Now the harderst part left - to desgin vehicle body. Edited July 15 by Arioh
Erik Leppen Posted July 15 I like hwo compact this looks. I hope everytying works as planned in the physical build, but I like how you get all-wheel suspension and a fake engine, and a connected steering wheel in a model of this scale. It also looks the steering wheel is easy to switch from right to left :) 1 hour ago, Arioh said: Now the harderst part left - to desgin vehicle body. Yep, for us Technic heads that is the hard part... curious to see how this will turn out, also color-wise. :) With the short length, I'm thinking of some sort of buggy, maybe that's not too difficult :)
Arioh Posted July 15 (edited) Just built a test chassis from spare bin parts (thus colour vomit and some strange parts substitutes)... Well, in some places it need reinforcement, but all functions works perfectly. It rolling VERY smoothly. For this scale i cheated and made rear suspension very simple, like in 42124 - its just a trailing arm that can swing only up and down. Overall, im very satisfied how chassis came out. Paul B Technic Posted July 16 Nice progress, it is always good to take something digital and make it in the real world.
Arioh Posted July 17 Some more progress - chassis rebuild in proper colours, slightly modified rear springs placement, which resulted in slightly softer rear suspension, first version body outline.
Paul B Technic Posted July 18 Nice level of detail there.
Arioh Posted July 24 (edited) I hope, i finished it.Dune basher retro. Retro technick themed buggy, with clean, bold lines and easily visible mechanisms. MangaNOID Posted July 24 I like how this ended up. The simple old style look works so well with the tyres that have a old and dated tread pattern, so I think you did well to fit the theme 👍 Im not too convinced by the chain for the steering connection, but it could grow on me. Arioh Posted August 25 (edited) Bonus: Suspension and steering are modular. Its easy to make vehicle LHD or RHD. Steering type could be rack and pinion, or just links like in 42093, or 42124. And whole suspension with engine could be changed without modifying base chassis. Example - road version without suspension, but with narrower track and classic 2 piston big engine. LXF file for road version. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/x4vendnmasq4ltwwsriv5/Road-basher.lxf?rlkey=b53bfzp2qcaovmln339ck7lh1&dl=1 Edited August 25 by Arioh

Thats awesome, I really like the version with the wide track width, it looks exactly like what comes to mind when you call it "Dune Basher". I think it has some sort of childish joy in it, and that's really special. Edited August 25 by Aurorasaurus Fix some weird formatting from my phone
