This is a MOC from a collaboration project where members are creating chess pieces.  Once every piece and the board have been modeled, we're hoping to take the whole build on tour so a few major conventions.  Having never created a horse before, I took on designing the knight figure for the medieval team (white).

Wow, this turned out very well! I know very well how difficult it can be to build something in shapes you have no experience with. When I Built my first male human figure in my GOBLIN SLAYER MOC I had real trouble, especially with the additional weight and shape of a more bulky male stature. For your first attempt at a horse you hit it in the first shot in my opinion! The head shape especially is very well done. The Knight looks pretty good too, only the upper legs look a bit flat and weird imo, but I know this is a difficult area and don't have any real ideas to improve it... The leaves in the armor arn't for me, but that's a question of taste. The base looks really nice, will it be the same design for all the other chess pieces? Personally I dislike the use of transparent supports, but without it such a dynamic positioning wouldn't have been possible.

Have you already built this MOC irl? I'd be especially interested how the shoulder and ellbow joint of the arm holding the spear are made, that looks quite heavy with a lot of leverage at the shoulder. Maybe I can learn a thing or two

Anyway, overall this is awesome!

Thanks for the comments.   I'm not necessarily a fan of the leaves on the armor either but as stated in the description, this is part of a collaboration build and the gold leaves are part of theme with the white knights.  I expect they will be dotted around all on all the pieces.  I created an alternative version using different colors and far less leaves just for fun.

As for the legs, I have seen them done several ways in various MOCs.  I opted to try using the axle connectors to reflect the skinny legs and the bulge at the knee horses have.  Maybe not great but better than how I had it before with a basic ball joint connection.  I also wish I didn't have to have the transparent support but that horse is sold and heavy and if the pieces are to be using in an actual game, it has to be build to be moved around.

The base will be the same on all the pieces including the pawns.  I have to give Ryan McBryde credit for designing the base.  He is the lead on this project.  We're still in the planning stages and have to design several more parts but it will get built in the end and hopefully appear at a one or two conventions.

Fantastic job, for that being your first shot at a horse it's clear you had nothing to worry about. The knight looks impressive and intimidating, as they should be. Great dynamic pose as well. Kudos!

I like how the horse came out, and the knight is proportioned well. However I miss a little detail on its head, maybe you can place a sticker on its mouthguard? Or a line of somesort. I think the head should be more pronounced.

Thanks for the comment.  At one point, I tried to create nostrils using SNOT bricks but it looked a little odd and made the nose a bit bulky.
