Not surprising, but good to get confirmation nonetheless. We have been drowning in police sets for years, but the new colour scheme is just so stylish that I cannot complain!

I'll give props to Lego, the City theme hasn't been oversaturated with police every wave like it was during the late 2010s. They seem to have piped down on them a bit.

And 2025 is the 20th anniversary of the release of the City series, so I think a large set will come out to celebrate it.

What might they do? We already got a big city centre set just last year, and none of the 2005 sets really need a remake (since basically all of them have already been ‘remade’ many times over!).

That’s a valid point. Maybe they do something different competely that we never saw before like Robot World roller coaster this year?

I understand that they always remake sets over years. But Ninjago had 10th annivesary and they had remade some sets with golden minifigures.

That is because Ninjago has iconic vehicles and locations that can be remade - A remake of the 2005 City fire truck or police car would just be another fire truck or police car, since the source material is real life. 🫤

To be fair, this year's superb excavator and mobile crane can be seen as remakes of the 2005 models, after a fashion.

I think you misunderstood something. I was saying what I thought, not a false rumor.

According to Stonewars, the 60380 will be retired in 2024 this year. That is why it seems likely that a big set will be released in 2025.

As we know, police and fire always show up n January wave annually, which it’s no surprise.

I don’t think there is some misunderstanding from @NewTown - you only said “I think” which it just means “I assume” or “I speculate” instead of “I know there will be a police set”.

But….as I said above, it’s no surprise that police and fire sets will show up in January wave every year.  So I will accept your “I think” part.

Actually there's not much to say about city 2025 besides the number of sets. We might see remakes of classic models from older eras of this theme. It's possible to see a new police station, but the 2022 won't be discontinued so not sure if we get a new one.  We might get a new train station and Cargo train according to the 2024 EOL list which includes some of these space sets and ambulance sets, the freight train and train station

That's right. I often use a translator to communicate with you. There may be mistranslation in the process.

Yeah, they don't do the "themed" police years either,  this year had the prison island, but it's not like they do Sky Police type of waves anymore that run at the same time as regular police , now there's obviously the option to roleplay harbour police with the 2024 sets, but they did not make those a different subtheme entirely.

Also recent years have better focus on buildings and vehicles being seperate sets most of the time, I'm a big supporter of selling buildings and vehicles seperately, especially for basic things like a bus, tram, or main street/downtown type of set.

As for 2025 sets, they'll probably make new Downtown/Appartment type of sets, as pretty much all of those seem to be retiring at the end of this year (including sets like Ice Cream, Car Wash, Skate Park etc.

A  big downtown highrise building  would make a lot of sense, seeing how huge the new 2024 crane is (even if the 2023 Downtown and Appartment sets do allow tall builds as well, it would still make sense for a new 2025-2026 version to be on the market to sell the crane more), as for actual design, it seems they have departed from road plates and the 8x8 , 8x16 system in 2024, but maybe that's just because of existing sets being around / available. Current 2021 road plate expansion pack is not listed as retiring.

DUDE!!!!! I was psyched when I saw the pictures of the tour bus. When I heard there was tour bus set, I was like...."Nah! It'll just be a way of selling another town accessory set!". Lo and behold, when the pictures were revealed this past May, it was a standalone bus set - like something that is part of the Great Vehicles lineup, something I have been asking for for ages now. Thanks to that, I now have hope of seeing a standalone bendy bus. To make matters better, the set came to US shelves in June so I was able to get it on release day. I got that set and the ATV, which is the only jungle set I'm buying. Glad Lego made it easy to snag a Johnny Thunder without having to play the CMF game of trying to hunt him down.

Could happen! They'll probably do that alongside space.

Yeah! Car wash, I got first. That downtown set broke my town budget, but I needed pieces of it (such as the barber shop, comic store and electronics dept. I also got the ice cream shop and the apartment on clearance. I never got the house or the skate park though. I actually wanted to get a few of those small houses to make a neighborhood in my town, but they were so rare AND I was kinda short on money this past year. I'm kinda on a budget as far as my town is concerned. One of my plans was to grab the modular museum, which Johnny Thunder owns in my town. But I'm a little tight on funds. The urban skate park is another piece I wish to add to my town. I only got five sets this year so far; burger truck, go karts, prison island, tour bus and Johnny Thunder's ATV. I plan to get the auto transport for the cars.

If we get Space police, then we should also get Space crooks for them to capture; Space fire/EMS would round out the main City ‘factions’ (construction/mining has been covered by the 2024 sets), and maybe we could even get an exploration subtheme in space - Space arctic exploration, perhaps?

Wait a second. . . 🤔

MODERATORS???

Can you PLEASE read this... we need a NEW topic for all ADVENTURE... From Indiana Jones to LEGO CITY subthemes. CITY sub themes are adventure? NOT CITY anymore.

...

Over the last few years, LEGO City and Friends have habitually moved out of town and in search of adventure in the second half-year sets. They visited the deep sea and the jungle, ventured to Mars, explored the North Pole and dove into volcanos. In 2023, a new ‘explorers’ branding appeared. I didn’t pay too much attention: New Branding appeared on a semi-annual basis. But our explorers boarded their dark blue and orange craft, and took off to both the Arctic and the Deep Sea, bringing many wonderful new animal moulds along with them.

And now the branding reappears in 2024: similar colouring of vehicles, as well as the return of the logo. Many of the new Jungle Explorer Characters have appeared with last year’s crew of polar explorers and divers.
