Didn't you say it would be released in October before? Has it changed again?

August from TLG and October for regular retailers, I guess. The previous 4 also had a 2 month exclusivity.

Not here to throw too much shade on TLG for their 1:8 cars.  I have the Porsche and the Bugatti.  But I stopped purchasing them after that.  TLG, in my opinion still puts out quality products, but the 1:8 supercars are not among them....

Ironically, the Sian and Daytona have the best "playability" imo, since the suspension doesn't sag and the gearboxes work as they should.

They still don't hold a candle to what some MOC designers offer though. And yes, those MOCs are largely for a different market, but they (the markets) are not as far apart as they once were.

@nerdsforprez respectfully, I could also list a few highly praised 1:8 MOCs that were released as a product (either as instructions, either by other manufacturers) with some non-working functions... as I said there are pros and cons on both sides.

Respectfully, both viewpoints are respectable.

No pics yet, but most of the thread is about how much of a sh.t the modell will be.

And yup, the Cada Renault is so fine it clicks when you push it and the suspension doesn't do anything apart from stressing and bending parts.

I'll be honest, TLG cars are high quality. The Porsche was crazy cool when it came out, I built it and was completely impressed by it. The Sian also, it's a phenomenal car, and I do believe that some things could be changed based on personal preference, but remember that the mother company need to approve the design. If they are happy then it is good enough.

Also with MOCs it's always a lottery, even by same designer. If you overcomplicate things and make some crazy mechanisms, yeah it's cool, but only when it works. You can't expect for Lego to make super complex things, as reliability is more important to them than to a random 1:8 MOCer.

I am not saying that MOCs are bad, but they are different to sets, as it should be, and for yourself, just buy what you want. Lego will sell, 3rd party companies will sell. So who cares really :)?

It’ll be a car, will have steering, a fake motor and a gearbox. Closures will open (doors, etc) and a wing may be functional. What more are people expecting ? I’m very pleased with the collection of “UCS” cars so far. I still like the 911 but I think my favourite is the Sian but that’s because I like Lambos.

We should stop comparing MOCs to TLG creations. Think of it like comparing a car straight from the factory to one someone has modified with a new body kit and an engine tune. Both have their place in the world but they’ll always have their own strengths and weaknesses.

lets just wait and see what TLG delivers us this time round.

Useless thread. Makes attention by title but is totally misleading. No confirmed model, no confirmed release date, no model info and pictures.

Something other than ANOTHER BLOODY CAR.

It would only have adjustable suspension if the car has it. I know for a fact that the Chiron and the Sian both had passive suspension.

It’s only every 2 years that they release a “ultimate” car … just think of other people who think … “not another truck” or not another “backhoe” every now and then. I’m still waiting for a decent large Tractor, and no the CLAAS didn’t count as that had the same size wheels

While I'm looking forward to the McLaren and it will add to my Supercars collection I wouldn't mind seeing one in the future with maybe a retractable roof as a point of difference to the ones that have come before it

On rumor, P18 is V8 hybrid. I hope TLG made fake motor too this time.

I still find it hard to believe LEGO would break trend and release a model built after a 10 year old car that is no longer produced... But oh well, only time will tell.

I do have a feeling it's just a matter of time before a 1:8 model will break the 4000 parts mark.

Artura is also a mod of P1 which will be revealed soon if I/m not wrong. But if I'm wrong it look at least strange indeed TLG will produce 10 yers old car..

Something new, not the same boring stuff as usual.

Some features that came spontaneously to my mind:

- Adjustable suspesion (height and/or resistance)

- Foldable roof

- A Mechanismen for foldable side mirrors

- Working wipers

- adjustable seats (like the first supercars had)

- Maybe some working fake valves on the Fake engine

- Air damped door mechanism (as we had already in some older sets)

- Working brakes

- And of course: Working LED lights!

But I am not a Designer and I believe there are much more possibilitys.

I own the 911 GT3 because I was curios about the new step mechanism. But after that, I got bored.

Working vipers and folding mirrors: unrealistic and big mechanisms for such underwhelming features. I can already hear people whnining about such lame features.

Face it: cars are boring. Just as in real life. And so as pretty much any other machine if you see some of them, it's life. The only solution to this is to simply end Technic. Do you like the idea? Or maybe TLG should do as the real industry does: make yet another car/supercar/exotic car/machine that has very little evolution since the last 500 iterations.
Okay, it would be nice to see some clocks and GBCs, but honestly, we would get bored with them quickly except for a few clock enthusiacs, who would probably whine all the time how unrealistic TLG clocks are.

I'm also talking about the glut of non-"ultimate" cars as well. And we don't have nearly enough backhoes!

I believe Seasider was being sarcastic, considering how few Backhoes there have been (4 main models I believe, last one in 2013, unless I've missed something?)

Yes, it tured from green to yellow in shrinked itself

Anyway all those series of 1:8 cars are for display, so except suspension, transmission, steering, key is actiually to replicate the look as good as possible

I think in the world of off-roaders, there would be many possibilities for building interesting stuff, like suspensions. For example leaf springs, proper live axles, portals, linkage based steering, etc. Pity that Technic focuses on new models instead of classic cars that had those types of suspensions.

Even in case of regular/sports cars, suspension geometries could be improved (like MacPherson).

Also, don't forget that we are probably getting a new gearbox construction with this supercar, at least.

And hopefully the G-wagon will focus on diff locks. Not that new conceptually, I know, but maybe better constructions..

1:6 scale when?

Only 1:6 scale car sets ive seen is from a chinese company, one is 5.5k pieces the other is 6.7K pieces

Neither have a transmisson for obvious reasons, because the friction would be too high, they can be motorized optionally however. So I think LEGO will not make a 1:6 scale car for a long long time if at all.

That's crazy! I built a Bugatti Chiron on Unimog tires one time, and I think that only came out to 1:7! What kind of wheels are they using on 1:6?
