6285 Black Sea's Barracuda - Captain Red Beard's Telescope

In one of the UK commercials for the Pirates theme, Captain Red Beard / Roger is seen holding a black atennea backwards as a telescope. In another shot, it appears to have been cut to make the piece smaller. Has then been officially confirmed or was it the angle he held the piece?

I don't think that specific use has been confirmed, but there was a Blocks magazine article awhile back that said the designers did all manner of cutting and gluing for catalog displays; I would assume it would be the same for commercials.

I believe he is talking about this.
At first I thought it was a perspective trick but the end appears to be flat; and antenna had rounded ends until 2012 or something so it appears to have been cut and sanded resulting in a slightly “matte” finish.
